  1. I haven't seen a combo package, but if you have a Michael's Arts and Crafts store close to you you will save on shipping. They sell both of those kits for i think $35.99. They also sell a kit with 3 plastic votive molds, 1 pound of wax, dye, fragrance, thermo, and a pouring pot.
  2. This was going to be my next question, storing votives and pillars...I've got them in ziplock bags, and the newest ones look fine it's the one's that i've moved around they've got knicks and such. I'm still going to sell them (call them the learning hand made look) but i want the ones they will potentially order looking better.
  3. I've got the same mold and used it the other day for storage of the botched patch of wax...It held a good 6ish pounds of wax...I want to make one of them as a normal candle, but i'm scared after that thing
  4. I Love the look, I should make Yule logs like that thanks for the idea.
  5. I love the look of all the rustic candles in the gallery, but do they sell well? I went around my office with a picture of a rustic candle and the response was leaning more towards the smooth candles. So in my quest to make candles for a craft fair at the office i've been making smooth for that reason. Should i only make smooth candles or make some rustics as well??
  6. I like it, If you look at it, you can see all 4 layers.
  7. I so envy you all when i see the fancy candles, and then the shear number of candles you all turn out....one of these days.
  8. I'm in VA so i just switched to CS for shipping cost and it took them one day to get the stuff here. The customer support is top notch, i'm a PC tech by trade and trying to wrap my head around the science of candles is a bit tough, and the lady on the phone was pleasent understanding and very very helpful...she made sure i was clear on what i was ordering and why i was ordering it, and if i tried ordering something i didn't need she asked why i needed it, and told me why i probably should save the $ and not order it.
  9. I like that, i was thinking about doing mugs with mulled cider, but thought they had to be clear mugs. Need to send the wife out to the store today...
  10. dat's a lot of candles. How many shops do you have?
  11. got the scent from Candles and Supplies, and they smell just like a root beer. I've got one of the smaller ones on a warmer next to me atm and it took about 2 hours to finally melt all the wax, but you can smell it on the entire floor of my office. 3 co-workers have already asked me to bring them one on monday. I've tested the larger ones and they smell great. I used clove for the coloring and it looks like an old style root beer, i'm contemplating buying ice cream scoops for the next batch.
  12. so they are still cooling but i had to share these First one is going to be a wickless warmer it's a 6oz glass Second one is a 16oz glass
  13. ::walks into that head long bumps head on wall and passes out:: yup i need to chose my wording carefully at times.:tiptoe:
  14. No hijacking allowed and yes i do dip the wick now since i've learned about that a few weeks after starting making candles.
  15. That would definitely be part of my throw problem, before i started making candles i'd put the store bought ones on a warmer. Now i'm trying to be a good candle maker and use a flame and wick. I brought a votive to the office and put it on a warmer and it filled the whole floor with scent. Thanks all for helping this inquisitive idiot out.
  16. I'd be willing to become the lab master and spend all my life testing the theories if someone is willing to give me a big enough grant:D I think i could convince my daughter to help me out and work for free....This would all be on the up and up, legitimate lab, one of those nifty scent detecting tools we've all seen on CSI...the white lab coat and hair net make me a scientist.
  17. Do you take the stick out before the repour?
  18. Welcome to the boards. Mottle is when the candle appears to have snowflakes on the outside. your candles are all shiny? what wax are you using? Did you put any additives in the wax? I know the candles i made with my starter kit were shiny so when i got a different type of wax it threw me off when it started mottling.

  20. Soooooo, i've seen the posts on the Wick Setter from CS, and i like the way it looks and i'm leaning towards buying it. I've also found the Wick Stick on Candlewic and wondering if anyone has used them, and if so will they work on votive jars as well? Opinions please.
