1. Thanks to all that posted. Yes, like you Granny I have had people come back and say that I missed counted and not enought jars:shocked2: . I triple count, then do it again.lol.I like the idea of delivering, then counting out inventory when I get there. So there is no misunderstanding on count.:rolleyes2
2. What do most of you put your individual orders in. In boxes or paper bags??? Or do you just deliver the candles as a whole and let them sort it out? Thanks,Jan
3. Ditto what everybody says...its says alot about a person that will go out of their way(time) to help someone else especially in this business.Thank you, Candlelady4ever
4. Angela,Im using plain pariffin w/ 3%fo. So you think 44-22-?? would work? Ok ,I`ll try that and let you know how it goes. Thanks all for the information.I`ve all ways use the victoria jar and thought I would try something different.

7. catuslady, thanks for your input.I was wrong on the size. You dont have any smoke or sooting problems?
8. Ive been having trouble with the size wick the company recommended for these jars.Sooting only..Full melt across jar is good. They recommended 51-32-18z and I order 6 bags of this in Dec.. I just called and told her about it and she said to try LX 18 or 20. Hate to order another that doesnt work. They have a sample pack that you can order...no freebies .Has anyone tried this and like it?I use pariffin and 3% fo .oh...9oz hex jar. Thanks ,Jan Just edit ...I put 51-36-18z...its suppose to be 51-32-18z.sorry
9. Just a question....do you have to coat the insides of these so they wont leak after pouring wax ? Seems like I read somewhere to use Modge Podge? Thx Jan
10. Just wondering about the FO.Can you let kids play with dough containing FO. What if Johnny puts his hands in his eyes while hes making up this dough?Just a thought....Jan
11. how much fo per lb of wax? wax can only absorb a percentage of fo before it sweats it out the excess.Maybe a old ct member can chime in here with the correct terminoiogy.Or do a search, its on here somewhere, several hundred times.
12. I spoke with them about 6 mos ago and they told me they were going out of business. They only had some jars and wicks left by the time I found out. Their web site said (for a while) that they were opening back up and I tried calling but no answer.
13. If you can stand one more rave-pat yourself on the back, you did a outstanding job on your displays!Jan
14. Has anyone seen this site?Very useful. Click on "Starting" then "start up topics" there are business forms there. http://www.sba.gov/index.html
15. Does anyone know where you can order boxes that can hold the small 2 or 3 ounce sample jars?Ive seen little kids carrying these around for fundraisers, and they will hold 5 or 6 jars at a time? TIA, Jan
16. Thought I would bump this up.Just got an OFFER to help me with setting up a website but I dont have a clue what to put in one, so I went a lookin.
17. WELLLl....I guess I`m the only one that would actually do something like this.Old age,My excuse and I`m sticking to it. I brought a few of those little bears at Micheals.Dipped, dryed and hung on the rear view mirrior. Last summer.....Parked the car in the drive way ..in the sun...windows rolled up...happen to walk out to the shop from the house. I did a double take:shocked2: as I looked at the wax dripping onto my dashbroad...cinnamon on grey...not pretty.
18. You know, If all of us on CT were in one big room,we would all be patting each other on the back and telling each other that we CAN sell just go out and do it!!! An the thing is...its true, we can do it. Ive walk into stores breaking out in a sweat, heart beating fast, stumble over my words, get a "no". and cry all the way home. Then it makes me mad and Im bound and determine to sell to the next person. But when you get that "yes" its the greatest feeling.AND you will get that yes, you JUST have to take it to the next step.Sell..Sell...Sell. I know this guy that sells his rustic furniture all over Texas. He told me for 100 no`s he get 5 yes`s. Didnt mean to go on and on...started to delete this a couple of times...but what the heck... maybe it`ll help someone.
19. We Use Free Accounting Software. I need something to keep up with all my records of sells.I didnt want to spent a arm and a leg so I looked and found this. I`ll look into and let you know.Unless someone is using this already and can tell us.
20. Banana Nut.....and I thought men like this scent.dh thinks it stinks
21. DO a search...Ive read, on the old forum I think, that there are some people that use Crisco in their wax for candles.
22. Thank you for all the replys.Im alost deaf so a alarm going off ,I probable wouldnt hear it.Even got my dil to give me her old baby monitor and tv to put out there. After the other day, came to the decision to keep my @ss out there.Common sense. I dont need a college degree to figure that one out.LoL
23. Its really hard to admit to yourself what is actually holding you back.I not working so have plenty of time to make candles(with housework in between).I still have my last kid finishing high school. .But (theres always a but),Im not putting as much into it as I should.I have a few stores, but when it comes down to suppling them with candles (once a mo.)I get into a funk. Or talking myself into going out and getting new stores. I get down on myself for being ungratefull and try to stay positive.I want this candle business to work.Sometimes just to show everyone I can.Like right now I need to service two stores and get to a supplier and buy warning labels. But( theres that but again) where am I? In front of this #$%@ computer!
