  1. Oh, I just thought it was interesting to watch. One day ,if I dont have anything else to do, have dippers, different waxes hot at the same time(different colors but same fragrances:lipsrseal )I might try to do this . Is that a potato peeler shes using? And Bruce ,if he happens to check this tread, how long does it take to finish a cut and carve from start to finish? Thanks
  2. For those interested in this craft: http://www.wicks-wax-scents.com/candle-making-video.html
  3. Please dont please me that people that own a forum or message forum, let people get away with this. And on a second note, how do the mods let them get away with it?
  4. I remember there was a discussion on this sometime early last year... The only thing I can think of that would not work is that some fragrances do not smell the same when they are put into wax or b&b. maybe someone else can think of something else. something like scent cards or sniffies or something like that...I'll try to find the thread Will have to try that Good idea!
  5. Not to high-jack your tread, but if it is containers, will you add if its a screw top lid or...?
  6. Thanks for all the replys. .I was getting deperate so I looked up BCN and ordered ( first time) 20mm votive wicks. Cheaper than LS where I usually get them. Called yesterday, received them today . Very fast shipping.But.....................wrong wicks..30mm. .Talked to a lady( very nice), she says that she has customers that use 30mm tabs on votives. Very big bottoms,Ive never seen these before.Any one use these?????? Do you think that the tab itself will get hot towards the bottom when the wax disppates, shatter glass??????
  7. Cant remember the website now, but they have the 600 series spool of wick.Im looking for a paper wick that will give me a better burn and less smoke than zinc-core wick.Just tired of soot on my jars. And yes I keep the wicks trimmed. Any who, I e-mailed them for a sample. Anyone have any luck with the 600 series?
  8. To those of you that buy rolls of wicks cord and buy tabs. Is it cost effective to do this? Roll your own so to speak? lol .Time wise and cost? Yikes...I just did a search ....and predipping each one? Is it worth it?
  9. How many ways can you rephase vanilla???????? Your bound to quote someones description. Or descripe it so no one knows its vanilla, like Grandmothers lace or something.
  10. I had a spot at the trade days this past weekend..I didnt hardly sell a thing. .I got on line to check for candle vendors.Only showed about 10 .But there were about 30 ( if not more) out there. And it was hot.Candles started melting at 95 degrees. I was out only the gas. My son went to sell furniture and he made about 2000.00.He paid for the spot and place to stay for 3 days. Never again. On the plus side, I never been there before and it ws amazing. Anything and everything was there and it was HUGE. It would take at least 3 days to see every thing. And rent a cart or motor scooter. Drinks were 1.00 and 2.00. Hamburgers were 5.00. Food was high dollar there. Everyone I talked to said Oct and Nov. is their best months. Has anyone else been there before?
  11. have any of you had to deal with this issue and what did you about it? Ive noticed on the bottom of my votives that there are particles of dirt. And bottom of some jars.GRRRRR. Ive used tulle (lol) , a type of straining cloth you use for making jelly, old pieces of clothing to pour thur .Its such a pain to do this.Is this just a way of life for making candles? Theres a dirt road in front of my house that a lot of trucks and cars use and I noticed when the wind is up, more dust in the air. I keep the door to my shop closed most of the time (Texas heat).Keep my pots covered with plactic bags, but Im still having this problem.
  12. come on people:yay: you dont have to comment on this post, just vote:bump:
  13. Well,I have cucumber and english ivy,so I melted a votive of each together.I can smell the cucumber a little more than the ivy. But I guess over all its ok. Now to pour and sell. Has anyone tried the cucumber and ivy thats out there and what does it smell like and does it sell for you?
  14. Thanks Robin! I guess the " something else" would be tarts, tealights, jars that would set on warmers? I was surprised at the poll, "something else" and jars almost the same.
  15. Jars ,pillars or votives?I would do a poll thingy, but I cant find where to start it. I did a search for polls on this subject and didnt find one. So hope this isnt a repeat. So guys and gals, which is it???
  16. oh, I like the scent too. But it doesnt sell for me.I have it in a dark green. Thought if I mixed it with something else it might sell.Anyone else have any ideas????
  17. Ive notice a new scent called cucumber and ivy and wondered if it was a mix of the two. Is it?
  18. What in the world can I mix with this fragrance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I can not sell it for .2 in a candle. I brought too much of it from a lady to not use it. Thought about adding something to it ,to see if it might help.E-bay and the classy are just too much trouble for me to deal with. Suggestion anybody????? Thanks ,Jan
  19. What new summer scents are you pouring? What has been the best selling one for you? Are melt tarts ( on a warmer) more popular in the summmer than candles with a wick? A good selling point?
  20. Thank you, Brooke .You gave me some great ideas! :highfive: Jan

  22. To the ones that had the brochure swap, how did it go? Did you get any ideas from each other? The reason I ask is that Im trying to come up with a brochure and was thinking I wished I could have been in on the swap.
