  1. My mouth fell open when I saw these. They are beautiful Donita.
  2. I wonder if it would do any good to add FO and color back to the wax.Is the wax ruint(sp). Can wax ruin?LOL.It was almost on 400. Im still interested in knowing if any of you have a smoke alarm in your work shop?
  3. Who has one in their candle work room? Boy! Im going out to buy a couple TODAY!!! I went out to my shop and turned on a few of my pots of wax. Figure I waited enough to go back and check on them and my banana nut bread was HOTTTT! 380!! on the temp!! Somebody kick me:embarasse .Turned on 2 fans to get the smoke out.Could hardly see to the other side of room. Scared me to death . If my dh had walked outside to smoke a cig I would be dead.OMG Well, the wax has cooled down now .Cant smell FO and the color has faded out.:embarasse .
  4. Ive thought of that before. But didnt get good enough results.Wax ran if you used too much pressure. Look under Branding Irons .They make them that small. You might want to try a wood burning tool first.Anyway HTH.Jan
  5. When is the next Texas Candle Conference? .
  6. Trish, I agree.I won`t let a candle leave my shop unless its perfect. My family will say,Oh that just a little blemish after they burn it for a minute it will be gone. NOPE,it blows.Back into the pot it goes.
  7. Ive been reading RobinOR`s post on Fear of success but what is your idea of success? A store of your own with all your products or delivering your candles to different stores or mailing them out to different stores far away?
  8. Hey Tucker, Maybe this will help? From Peaks: Universal Additive: Inhibits mottling. Increases wax hardness. Prevents bubbles. Increases opacity to some degree, but not nearly as much as Vybar. Also minimizes the occurance of surface pits in molded candles. Improves surface gloss. Increases fragrance oil capacity of wax. Can be used with waxes of any melting point. General usage is 1 TBS per pound of wax (2% by weight). One pound of UA will treat approximately 50 pounds of wax. MP: 184 deg F. Wax must be heated to above 184 to add this additive directly to the wax. If not, melt separately, then add to wax . It seems if I dont use the correct amount of this ,I have the fingernailing issue. Be sure your measure amount are exact.
  9. Ok Im in if theres room. I missed the tart swap too. I havent finish the fall swap reviews yet!!:embarasse
  10. LOL Sorry guys but the thoughts that come to my mind.....LOL

  13. does anyone know of a place that custom makes a votive or cantainer label for you? I dont want to make my owe, just too expensive.Ive checked some local suppliers but they have the standard labels. Edit to add I also did a search but didnt find anything.
  14. When is a good time to put in the next seasonal candles or b&bs out? Like the next Valentines. Put them out the first of January, the middle of the month or the first of Febuary ? What has worked the best for you?
  15. Do all you put labels on every votive candle you sell? Ive thought about putting a index card with warnings and advice on how to take care of the candle for their own choosing.
  16. Yes but.........if you add 3 or 4 times what you have in your candles and sell wholesale at that price is that enough of a profit to keep selling ? Is that a normal price. What is fair or normal??? This may be too personal or a stupid question. Im always second guessing if Im doing the right thing.
  17. I wonder what kind of wholesale pricing Walmart gets from other candle venders to sell their candles so cheap. Sometimes I have doubts about my wholesale prices and think Im too high. Does anyone else worry about this?
  18. CSAS, your probable right. I tried to fill the whole shelf this time with what she could afford.I stay with the smaller shelf afterall.
  19. Thank you both for your advice. I just wanted a nice way to put in writing to keep your crap off of my shelf:wink2: . Yes in a lot of the stores Im in, Ill provide a shelf if thats a way to get in there.Ive been burned only once by a big company in not getting my shelf back.
  20. Ive been stocking this store since the first of the year with my votives. She didnt buy very many to put in her store and Ive only been in there about 5 times this year. She in a bad location and its a combination water filteration(?) and gift shop. Anywho, she called and wanted more candles and jars brought in.I go in and almost all candles are gone and she has other things on my shelf. Gift bags, tarts and a few jars from someone else. She brought almost 150.00 worth of votive candles and wants me to bring an even bigger shelf and about 10 jars.Im thinking because she wants to use it to put her stuff on??? Do any of you have an agreement that your stores have to order in a certain time frame? I dont want to provide her with storage space for her stuff. How do I word it in a contract????? Thanks for any advise, candlelady
  21. Jennifer,my dh did the same thing for me.Knowing how busy he is and taking the time to do this meant alot to me. The only thing is he had the inside of the shop walls blown with foam .Its great in the winter but bad in the summer b/c of the heat it keeps in.Im running the a/c all summer in this tx heat. But to have all this stuff out of the house is wonderful! Congraulations!!!!Jan
