  1. LOL!! Oh dear!! LOL!!! I just realised after I read your response where i posted this! LOL!! I dont know how that happend!LOL!! this is what happens when you make both candles and soaps! LOL!!!!! Yes, I would think it will defiently be moved!:rolleyes2
  2. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I purchased one of those 3 in 1 molds from mr.doright on ebay. AFTER I had purchased it, paid for it etc I found out and read all the feedback on here about his molds and as well as some negative feedback from customers on ebay. I placed my order back in Sepetmber and paid for it all on the same day right away. Then I waited and waited. I beleive it was like two weeks later I had not received it or received word that it was even shipped so I emailed him and asked him if my order was shipped. He responded immediatly and apologised saying that he had misplaced/forgotten my order(he blamed himself) and said something about the fact that i was a new ebay buyer and he got confused??? HUH???? Yes, his mold was only my second purchase via ebay but unless I am wrong I dont see what that has to do with why he misplaced my order. I mean he would have received word of the purchase and an email about the payment. I paid I beleive $38 for the mold and about that same amount for the shipping which I thought was ALOT for a mold to be shipped to me.(it is being shipped to Canada.) Anyway, after he apologised he refunded me the price of the mold and just kept the shipping fees as an "I'm sorry" for misplacing my order. I thought this was really nice of him and was pleased that he corrected his error right away and did that to make up for the delay. My order finally entered into canada October 1st and sat ...I dont know where...it took the post office right till almost the end of October before they sent it to me. weird. never had that happen to me. Anyway, whenever I order something online I always check the postage paid sticker on the box to see if I was overcharged. I was....the shipping ony came to approx $25 and I paid over $30....I geuss the man got the price of his materials on his mold afterall. Now I know why he didnt mind refunding me the mold fee initially. Anyway, i was SCARED of using the mold after what I had read on here many times about leakage etc. But I finally used it....and you know what? My mold is on level. The soap is not level. All my other molds I use I dont have this problem but this mold is not level. Well, needless to say, I will not be ordering from him again and I only wish I had read in here first before purchasing it.I waited over a month for a lopsided mold. LOL!!! No, I wont be contacting him again about the mold problem...what can he do about it?? Just not worth the hassel. Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents to the doright experience. Seems Mr.Doright didnt do so right by making his molds after all.
  3. sorry this happend to you. I hope you get your money. This is why I NEVER NEVER EVER fill and hand over any order, retail or wholesale, unless I have my money upfront and it has cleared my bank.
  4. Hi Everyone, I just finished making Bunny's Bath Melts. I had seen the recipe posted on here and read all the rave reviews about them. I followed the recipe to the "T" only I used refined cocoa butter and added FO to it for scenting. My question is, once I had added the citric acid....is it supposed to really thicken up like that?? The recipe said to pour into the candy mold cups but I had to scoop it out and into the molds. Also, one I had added the citric acid it felt gritty....is this normal??? I have never made bath melts before and was just wondering if this was the way it was supposed to look and feel??? Thank you for any help and input on this.
  5. Sorry this is happening to you....really bites. I only wholesale my melts and have a low minimum order of $50 which I thought was wonderful for those who want to wholesale from me and sell on their websites.....we all know how tight our budgets can be running an online biz. Anyway, this one gal wanted to order from me for wholesale melts but complained that $50 worth of melts too much and she didnt need $50 worth of melts. So, stupid me, just for her I said ok, just order what you need and I will let the minimum amount go for your first order. Not so much as a thank you did I receive. NO MORE, NEVER AGAIN will I do that. Just not worth it. I would follow your friends advice and dump this wholesale lady of yours.....she just jerking you around.
  6. I attened a craft show this past weekend too where I saw Mary Kay, Avon and tupperware....along with a bunch of other stuff that was bought not made. I was in and out of there fast. Tihs craft show had been going on for 20 years and it had alot of traffic but it sickens me what they allow to be sold at a craft show. I had orginally signed up to sell my own handmade goods but backed out as I was just too busy. Glad that I did and didnt waste my time.
  7. Oh my gosh! those are wonderful!!! I LOVE those!! You did a wonderful job with putting it all together. It's very eye catching and very "high end" looking! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Would not change a thing. You hit it right on the head so to speak....just wonderful!! One of the best I have seen!
  8. I wish I could help you out but I ordered my mold from him over a month ago...must be going on two months now and I have yet to receive it in the mail! There was some sort of mix up and he finally shipped it out on September 28....but I am still waiting on it.
  9. Good point!!!! But what scares me still is that even though you test and test and test you dont actually test the candle that the customer is getting. What I mean is that you could have tested that particular candle with that wax, wick, dye, jar, FO, etc and all went great. BUT, there is always that chance beyond your control where maybe your supplier changed suppliers wehre they get those wicks from or that dye and didnt tell you and you think its the same and you go and sell it, feeling condident and poof! you have a bad candle that you did not know about. I have heard of this happening, where suppliers get changed and you just dont know. Anyway, needless to say, no matter how much we test and test our products I dont think anyone should be leaving them along like that. It just amazes me how many people leave a candle unattended.
  10. To me, if there was no cancellation policy stating that you would not get a partial or full refund then she has no legal right to keep your money. Some have said its looks bad on you but to me it looks bad on her. Surely this is not their first show???? So has she not come across this before, where a vendor wanted or needed to back out at the last minute? Why doesn't she have a policy about those wanting refunds for whatever refunds???? that is weird. Also, the fact that she was keeping you informed and telling you up until last week that she may cancel the show due to lack of interest....well come on! What ARE you supposed to do??? you run a business, you booked a show with her, you have to schedule it into your busy life and she leaves you hanging as to whether there would be a show or not??? If you are having to make a large number of products just for this show that you would otherwise not make I would be getting mad...do I make all this extra product or not???? Me personally, I would email her back or call her and state that she does not have a cancellation policy on her show application that says you CANNOT get a full refund and she has no right to hold onto your money like this. Obviously if she did have a policy then you would know about it in advane and willing to just walk away from the money...but i would NOT like someone trying to keep my money and just making up policies as she goes along. There is no cancellation policy...that is your loop hole for getting your money back. Who is HER boss??? I would try to talk to someone higher up then her. This is not just a matter of you deciding to do a better show, this is a matter of her saying it was up in the air due to lack of interest and she may cancel it and so BASED on that you made other arrangements and she then decides to say No, sorry,no refund??? I would just be blunt with her and tell her like it is...that you went looking elsewhere because she said the show was up in the air and probably be cancelled and there is nothing stating you could NOT get a full refund and therefore you want your money back. As far as she is concerned you are a customer and if the customer is asking for a refund and you dont have a refund policy then how can you not give one???? What leg do you have to stand on? Good luck with this. Oh, I would also suggest to her that perhaps she should enclose a refund/cancellation policy on her show applications so other vendors dont have this sort of problem.
  11. I do my own printing. I hate paying someone for something I can do myself. I have never been able to come across anyone who offers this service here in Canada.
  12. Oh I LOVE it!!!! You did a wonderful job! I love soaps like that!
  13. Gosh! Just makes ya want to contact CNN and let them know that its been around for a LONG time and this woman sure as heck didnt come up with it on her own! LOL!!
  14. Hi Karen, Have you tried Pritchard Packaging???They are located in Ottawa.
  15. well I couldnt vote because I like both! They both have their benefits for me. I use lotion during the day and at night I use the butter.
  16. WOW!!! Congrats!! Wooohooo!!! Even if you decide not to do this what a great compliment to you...my hats off! I don't blame you for feeling overwhelmed....I would be too! I dont have advise to offer here...but sounds like others gave you some food for thought. I'm a mom of three and a certified daycare teacher....retired! LOL!!! There are good daycares out there and bad ones...just like with everything else in life. Daycare can be a wonderful experience for your child....she will make new friends, learn how to interact with other children, learn about being on a "school" type schedule etc. If you ever opt to put your child in a daycare do alot of research, ask other parents who they use and get their feedback. Make an appointment with the daycare, take a tour, meet the staff, check out the enviromnent, come prepared with alot of questions, ask for their daycare policy book, their classroom activity schedule etc AND, drop in unannounced sometime after you have had your initial visit there. I say this because when the staff is always informed when a visitor is coming to the daycare so everyone is on their best behavour. Popping in unannounced...make up an excuse to them why you did (I was in the neighbourhoob blah blah blah) and keep your eyes and ears open the first few minutes you are there....are the teachers still interacting with the chidren the same way as your first visit before?? What your looking for is if that first visit was staged or not for your benefit. LOL!!Ok, instead of giving you advise on your wholesale problem I gave you some daycare hunting advice! LOL!! Hope you dont mind. the whole point I am trying to make is that daycare can be a fun experience for children. You can be more picky and have more say in the daycare your child gets put into then you can about which teacher your child ends up with in school....and not all teachers are created equal in there either. Good luck with whatever decision you make regarding the wholesale.
  17. I have never heard of them before. Do you have a URL for them so I can take a peek at their stuff??
  18. My mom had bought a pillar candle about two years ago and it bulged like that. I had never seen that happen before so it was actually very facinating to watch! LOL!!!
  19. This recipe sounds interesting and can't wait to try it myself soon. Thanks for sharing! I can't beleive how much I am learning in here!
  20. This is such an interesting topic. When I did my very first craft show I was'nt expecting anyone to ask me how to make certan things...so when they did I thought they were just curious and I was happy to tell them how I did it. Well, I quickly learned after being asked twice to keep my mouth shut. I told this one gal how i did something...as she was looking at my product for a long time and I thought she was going to buy...but when I told her how I did it she put theitem down and said she was going to try that at home and walked away!!! I have been asked by family members a number of times on how I make my candles....they asked me to actually physically teach them how to make them saying that they dont plan on selling candles...jsut want to make them for personal use. I said there is alot involved and I really cant show them eveything in one session and they are better off continueing to buy their candles as the supplies, molds, equipments, dyes, wicks, testing...I really went on and on about what was involved...would not be worth it for them. I turned them off candle making. In any case, then I get asked questions about any of my products I stick with the basics....they have a right to know the basic ingedients. If they get persistant and want to know HOW, I just smile and say "sorry, against company policy to disclose that kind of information". If they get mad hearing that too mad...I would be more mad if I gave my recipes away and they used it for their own profit.
