  1. I use it in a soy body butter. works REALLY well.
  2. I just got a new swiper - cell/swiper thingy - and it is so cool! it was free with my merchant accoutn (I switched services), and I pay 19.99/mo for airtime. but my transaction rates are fixed and much lower than I was paying before. I couldn't be happier. PM/email me and I"ll send you my referral form.
  3. it's a different book. 'making cream soap'
  4. yup, if you put it in lip balm it'll make any mica/colorant stain your lips for longer lasting color.
  5. Maybe adding olive oil would help. it's notorious for slowing down trace...
  6. if you elect to go with crystal clear labels, try labelsbythesheet.com you can buy just one sheet to test - although you pay a lot more for shipping than you do the one page... I use them - although I shrink-wrap my pillar first before applying the label.
  7. wow. someone musta raised enough of a stink for that to happen. funny that it was just a couple of days after this thread started...
  8. both would the reseller and the manufacturer would probably be listed
  9. Notice there's no mention of how POISONOUS the caustic soda beads are...
  10. I can't believe my eyes! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-2/qid=1175091139/ref=sr_1_2/601-3507924-4375302?ie=UTF8&asin=B00092CUD4 "Making soap at home can be fun, economical and part of a simpler, more self-sufficient way of life. 11. I read somewhere that Lanolin helps micas/oxides to stay on the lips.
  12. I melt my other butters, then partially melt the FBB before adding other oils, and use one of the recipes that TexasBrat mentioned, slightly tweaked. I like it light and fluffy, so I add water (2-4oz pp), a little at a time to get the texture I want, and instead of sugar or salt (tends to aid in separation IMO), I last used Almond Meal - and it's fabulous! No separation at all. As far as it being drying - I think it may depend on the user's skin. I have combination skin (typical t-zone) use it about every other day without problems. No breakouts, and I don't feel that it's drying at all. I have a customer that uses it every day. My nephew uses it every day and swears by it for his acne.
  13. I use the square masons and I offer my customer a 'refill' discount. they give me their old jar, and I give them a new candle/new jar. I re-use the old jar, but not in a candle. I instead put a smelly jelly in it. saves us both money, and I don't have to worry about heat stress on my jar.
  14. Those look great! My molds didn't have wick pin holes either - until I took them to my hardware store. The owner drilled holes in them for me for just $5. Best money I ever spent!
  15. I am! I am! I'm leaving my FT day-job in June. I have plans to do several farmer's markets in the area 5 days a week (sounds like a new FT job...) through the summer. Then fall/winter craft shows start up and between that at wholesale orders, I'm going to be a busy bee. Biggest thing I'm concerned about of course, is keeping my head above water. Removing all debt from my life by the end of this year, and am socking away as much into savings as possible for a safety net. Another concern - insurance. I was able to talk to a rep here at work re: some benefits I have here. They will follow me, and then I only need to get an HSA (health savings account) to cover anything else that comes up. All in all, I'm feeling REALLY good about this, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
  16. sorry, no suggestions... but I can relate. I use liquid dyes and have this with red, green and brown when I put in a touch too much dye in. and anything over a few drops can be too much...
  17. I'm with Wildheart - I pour much hotter than I used to now that I use CB Adv. I don't use additives and the only time I've had frosting issues were with 3 different colors - red, green, brown. I use liquid dyes, and any more than 8 drops per pound will cause frosting for me; sometimes less with those particular colors.
  18. I've only seen that happen with a wax that wasn't the greatest quality. This doesn't happen with the soy wax that I use.
  19. I think you're talking about the wax flaking? kind of sparkly sometimes? sometimes it's inferior wax (stuff from Michael's will do that) and sometimes it's all about the temp that the candle was poured at. Sometimes hitting it with a heat gun will take care of that cosmetic problem.
  20. I finally broke down and bought a laser - Xerox Phaser 6120. Been wanting to for a while, and I'm very happy w/ it - except I got better coverage (smaller margins) with my Epson C86. I'm sure I'll recover, but in the meantime I have to change a few of my documents (brochures, etc) because my text runs off the page...
  21. I have some in various colors I would be happy to part with - 4x4 I think. PM me if you're interested...
  22. I don't know how good a match it is, but I mix one that's pretty good. 50/50 Very Vanilla & Caramel (both from BCN)
  23. in the past coupla days I've poured: Autumn Spice Lotus Blossom Mandarin Cranberry (my own mix) Olive Blossom Cherry Lemonade (my own mix)
  24. what temp are you pouring at? are you 'fussing' with the mold, or trying to force it to cool too quickly? I had similar problems if I played with it, or poured at an incorrect temp. I havent' been using this wax for long, but I'm getting great results, because I let it do its thing in its own sweet time... I pour in the neighborhood of 240*, immediately after adding FO and dye, and then I leave the molds alone for about 1hr per inch of height (I use the 3" diam seemless molds from BCN). HTH
