  1. I'm thinking I can treat them almost like a wax-dipped bear. If the fragrance fades, you can hit them with a hair-dryer. Store them correctly (air-tight container, no zip locks) and they should be able to use them year after year, assuming there is nothing else in the container to damage them. I do need to play more the the UV stuff though; especially if they want to use again and again.
  2. The ebay description says the dissolving mixture contains mineral salts and that you can actually sit in the tub while it dissolves.
  3. That was what I thought! I made them to decorate a tree I'm sponsoring for our Festival of Trees. Going for a country/prim look. I made a raffia garland, I have a couple dozen of these and I'm going to take some muslin bags, stamp them with gingerbread men (maybe?) and stuff them with scented cotton. And tie some cinnamon sticks with homespun. Then maybe some burlap for a tree skirt... should be cute. if nothing else, my tree will smell better than anyone else's.
  4. I only have 2 christmas-y cookie cutters, as luck would have it. but I did find that if I left the wax in for any length of time, it was a bit more difficult to remove. it was easier to remove ASAP and risk them falling apart that worry about crumbling them by forcing them out.
  5. Mine are entirely whipped, and plopped into the cookie cutter with a fork. I think if you poured in a layer they might be too heavy for the tree.
  6. Here are the ones I made http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=323091#post323091
  7. These were a lot of fun! made with IGI 1343 (whipped) brown = spiced cranberry, ivory = christmas wreath (I know, my niece chose the color), green = mistletoe, red = sleighbells
  8. I find that people who like patchouli scents are in their 50s/early 60s... if you know some women in the age bracket, you'll get some reliable responses, I'm sure..
  9. Muslin bags - I iron-on my label info
  10. I had read somewhere that if you add up to 1T salt per gallon, it will thicken. More than that will make it thinner, if possible.
  11. I made the cutest ornaments out of this wax this weekend. I took about a pound, added FO and dye - and then whipped it with a whisk. put it in cookie cutters with a fork and voila! gingerbread men made of wax. and with the right coloring, it looks like it could have been oatmeal cookie dough that I used.
  12. I wonder - if you scored it, could you break off a chunk when ready to use?
  13. I've heard of Continental Glass and Ryco. they both have warehouses in other places - CG has one in KS, Ryco has one in Omaha
  14. I use it, although it's the Mac version. you should be able to delete the PO. just open it up and then go under the file or edit menu. you should see 'delete PO' or 'delete transaction' in that menu.
  15. to the brim if at all possible, sometimes in between top of cavity and brim. I use a soy container wax
  16. I use the feathering wax from BC too. and wick pins in my seemless molds. with the wick pins, they're really easy to get out of the molds.
  17. I saw someone at a wholesale show selling by the log, but I didn't take the time to check the price. Wasn't into the B&B thing at the time... sorry.
  18. I just LOVE Hot Orange Danish from Natures Garden - yummo! - and a really good seller for me.
  19. I don't think some people recognize that you have a vision of what your business should be, and that every little thing you do has a cummulative effect to get you to that ultimate vision. Even if they have good intentions, some people ideas of what your product or your store or your display should look like is NOT necessarily what we think is right for our own image.
  20. Fedex has some zones where there is not Saturday delivery. it's possible you live in one of those zones.
  21. It's really not as difficult as you're trying to make it. in your item list, set your cost & sell price on a per votive... ex: .50 cost 2.00 sell that gives you your base price for those people that buy only one. when you have a customer buy your 3fer deal, you just change the way the invoice reads... qty = 3 then tab over to total (forget the unit price for now) and enter in $5. the invoice will recalculate the individual sell price and your cost will be accurate. HTH
  22. Don't you think it's okay to list like this: base (all of their ingredients in parentheses), shea butter, fragrance.... etc After all, you see it on food products... milk chocolate (list here), granola (list here), etc... I would think anytime you use a ready-made product you count it as one percentage of your total and put that in the appropriate order with the rest of your additives. Sounds reasonable to me, anyway.
