  1. Hi Andrea and welcome to the board, I'm glad you found us.
  2. I'm so sorry to hear about Brent, he was always so polite and helpful when I spoke to him a few times on the phone a long time ago......
  3. I love the 12 oz Status jars. I still offer jelly jars and am testing some western themed jars right now.
  4. Welcome back! I too started back recently and have found many changes with some of my old suppliers having closed.....however thank goodness I remembered this board from before. The people on here have been helpful and friendly. Plus I spend a lot of time going over the very informative posts. We are all in this together!
  5. Great job, it looks great and kudos on the organizing too! Enjoy!
  6. I use the same one as TallTayl uses. Taylor digital. Started out using the glass candy thermometers. The infrared sounds interesting though:)
  7. Well thank you Belinda, I will be placing orders tomorrow with Bitter Creek, Lone Star and Texas Candle Supply. I've decided not to go too crazy ordering for now and take my time testing them. I need other items from BCN and Lone Star too. Can't wait to try the Texas CS........very sweet of you to offer and will let you know. Thank you:)
  8. Scented, thank you for the advice on using leather scent. I have never used it before and it's good to have a starting point when I begin my testing.....which is taking me too long because I'm being indecisive or some reason! Lol! Thank you all for the great ideas too!
  9. Now if I can just narrow my list down to fit my bank account! Lol!
  10. Belinda, I did experiment with Eco Soya for a while but for some reason I never could get it perfected, although I know others who use it and love it! So I have stuck with KySoy when I started using It Vickey Robinson owned Ky Candle Supply, she was the sweetest most helpful person and would help with any questions asked of her! I have always offered paraffin wax for my pillars upon request along with some of the Palm waxes too. What wax do you use?
  11. Thank you all for the great ideas....I forgot to mention I do order from BCN and have ever since I started, but didn't realize they are offering scents from the BCS store, will check it out. I didn't know about Texas Candle Supply but will be checking them out this evening! I'm so excited I feel like a newbie:) I don't know if I ever mentioned that I use KY 125. Again, thank you all and I will keep you posted as I test!
  12. I'm going to be testing scents for a new line which will be a Western type line. When I initially started my business it I lived in Illinois so I did most of my ordering from the suppliers in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and eastward. I know live in ND and the shipping cost is so much from those areas. I will now be testing fragrances from Peak, Lone Star,SWC and a few others. Would any of you have any initial ideas of must haves from these suppliers? Especially for western types.....I already have leather on my list. Lots of testing ahead but it will be fun, so glad to be back into candle making! Thank you;)
  13. Beautiful candles and the colors are great! What type of color do you se if you don't mind me asking? I used to color my soy but now I don't color them unless requested. Very nice candles!
  14. Welcome to the board Dakota! It's a great place to learn and share....
  15. How exciting! Your candles are beautiful......congratulations!
  16. Forgot to mention that Cajun was the very first place I ordered from back in late 1998 or 1999........very good people to do business with. So I will definitely order a Creme Brulee sample from them. I order often from Bitter Creek North and Peak too. Never ordered from Alabaster before although I've always heard good things about them! So many candle supply places, so little time! Lol!
  17. Thank you everyone for your responses, I apologize for not answering or commenting as I haven't been extra busy lately. I will be trying samples from some of the places mentioned..........again, thank you!
  18. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been reading posts since yesterday, need to rest my eyes a bit! Lol....
  19. One of my favorite and best selling fragrances was the Creme Brulee from "At Wix End" I know they are no longer in business and my question is did they sell their business/fragrances to anyone else? I've tried samples from other places but haven't found one I like as well as that one.
  20. Hi everyone, I have finally gotten back into candle making after being away for quite a few years, due to circumstances. My name is Gail Haywood and my candle business is Autumn Mist Candle Creations, established in 2000. Nice to be in touch with other candle makers again.
  21. Thanks Tasha for the info on the HTP 126! Are you using soy?
  22. Groovy Chic, Those are absolutely beautiful! Love them!
  23. I too will let you know how the testing turns out too! Can't wait to start using the new jars.....if I ever get the wicks right! Anyhow, I think a clear round label with some elegant fonts would look good on the Balmoral jars. I know my regular rectangle labels won't work, as CandleGrl said. Thank you CandleGrl for the web site, Please let us know when you get your sample.... Gail, Illinois
  24. Groovy Chic, I've been testing the 9oz. balmorals for a few weeks now and almost had it right with the CD's. but like you said, when it's hot enough for the wide part, it seems too hot for the bottom narrow part. I'm just not comfortable with that, so I was about to give up on them.I used to use zinc wicks in my jelly jars when I first started out in 2000. Matter of fact I'm almost sure I have some at the storage unit. I had to leave candle making during 2006 and feel like I'm starting all over again, which of course I am.......lol! I just love the balmorals, after I get the wicking done on the 9oz. I'll start testing on the 16oz......we just never stop do we? I'm sick of looking at the jelly jars after so many years. If you don't mind my asking, how do you label the balmorals? I was thinking a round label on the lid or a hang tag. Thank you for your advice on zinc wicks. Gail, Illinois
  25. Thank you Kitty for the great instuctions.....can't wait to play! In the middle of a fund-raiser right now.
