    Trying M&P

Since glass isn't absorbent I would think if you washed it thoroughly that would be fine. I do it all the time with glass & metal.
  2. I've read somewhere that WSP has a stainless steel decorator thingy that some soapers use for whipped soap
  3. your welcomed firefly. I just got a chance to look at my notes. I wanted to make sure I had my numbers right. There's a slight correction to what I posted above. LxWxHx.554 for raw soap (i.e., for oils & liquid) and will work for mp also. Do let us know when you try it so others will have this info too.
  4. Firefly, I seem to remember reading on either this forum or another that this formula will work for mp: LxWxHx.54 I did try it once on of my 1 lb mold & it worked. Let us know if you try it. Since I usually use individual molds, I do as prairieannie does, I measure the volume of the mold & melt that amount. That works also.
  5. Beautiful! Very retro! Flower power and all that!
  6. OMG that's beautiful Kristy! Hope you don't mind my asking but did you just sprinkle the glitter on top or was it mixed in the batter?
  7. They're great for soaps. Mix with a tiny bit of oil or water to remove clumps. Add to a bit of your soap batter and swirl in the pot or in the mold.
  8. God woman, I'm so jealous You do some damn fine work!

    Soap Molds

Yes, please! I would like that link.
  10. Wow Ann Marie. That's awfully generous of you. Yes, I would like to try it and see. I'll pm you my addy. But I've never heard of Yaley. What's their website so I can take a look. I also get all my colors from TKB and never been disappointed, just wish they'd come out with a vibrant red. I know you've been on the look out for it too.

    Soap Molds

Know what you mean. I've been looking for one for a while. I bought the one from Chase. Not extremely happy with it but it's ok. I find it a bit too flexible and have a hard time getting the soap out. It's made of a soft plastic and when I pull back to pop out the soap it pulls back too much. Sorry. Not sure I'm explaining that right. Anyway, I'm still on the look-out for something else. Maybe I'll check out the one from Peak.
  12. Thanks for your help. I contacted Kaila at TKB and she responded saying that they're liquid brown oxide has a reddish hue and that's probably why I got the pink. She's so wonderful She'll gonna send me a sample of a different brown. I don't want chocolate smelling soap, so the cocoa powder is out. Tizimarezie, how'd you get the powder to mix without speckles? I always have trouble with that.
  13. What's up with that? A few drops of the brown oxide into opaque to get a beige/tan and I get a dusky rose color instead. I've tested it twice. So how do I get a tan color using the white base? If I use cocoa powder, do I have to worry about mold or yucky stuff?

    soap display

I like it too. Great idea. They all look so nice.
  15. Curious newbie here. Is there a benefit of this in soaps or is it just for color?
  16. Interesting. Never thought to do this. Questions: Do ya'll line the can first? If so, with what? Or would this can be a "one time use" only?
  17. awwww but I likes the mac & cheese look!
  18. wow! cool effect! I never seen that before. You use the same funnel & then pour different colored soap through it without moving the funnel from the center of the mold? Would love to try that.
  19. I think (correct me I'm wrong) because of soap's high pH you don't need preservative. I've used (for my own use of course) scented handwash and shower gels, diluted it (2 oz soap + 7 oz distilled water) & works wonderfully in these bottles. Plus very cost efficient. I've even tested dollar store cheap brands liquid soaps and they also work. I add a bit of turkey red oil for more emolliency (sp?). For gift-giving, I've bought unscented (Dr. B's) liquid soap. Colored it, scented it, added a bit of TRO. Everyone's enjoyed them. Hope this was helpful PS. Thanks for the shredded cp tip. I'm gonna try that.
  20. Wow! Those are lovely Kristy.
  21. Beautiful soaps & beautiful shop! Congrats.
  22. Beautiful soapies. Don't know what you mean about the pics. They're great.
