  1. I like the look. Too bad coffee beans are so hazardous. By the way, resourcefulness is a good thing. The coolest thing about candle making is that it lends itself to creativity, to being done in myriad ways. You planted a nice visual in my mind. And then my mind added a couple other .... but I'm down to one brain cell tonight. It feels like Monday 5 days in a row.
  2. Honey, you could soooooooooooo many things as a mold. Just don't want one that's weak when hot or porous. Heck Just look at Donita & others who use balloons to make 'cane shells.
  3. Very nice. Particularly like the star & moon chunkies. Indeed, how did you manage such a translucent overpour? You've got the 1343 eating out of your hand.
  4. I would just like to make the suggestion of posting larger sized images. The one you have is just too small (& too dark) for me to be able to make out any significant detail.
  5. Wow .... the coloring & patterning are gorgeous. Shame to burn such a beautiful candle. BUt a chandler has to do what a chandler has to do. Candlesprite, when you get the palm wax, remember, Relief Holes & fat skewers.
  6. Nice 'cane. I'd like to try the balloon type someday. In the meantime, I'm happy to admire everyone elses - including yours. :highfive: I would make just one wee suggestion ... that you resize the pix so we don't have to scroll to see it. But keep in mind I like 'em big 'cuz I have "old eyes".
  7. Sharyl, I would hardly call you "clueless". The fact that you had the tester burning in a pan is evidence of your experience & widsom. lol. Wow, Jojo! I'm diggin' those cannedles! They all look good to me. (I meant to spell it that way ...canned ....candles ... cannedles ... get it?) Hehehehhe [it's a good thing we can edit. Sometimes I wonder, "if I never edited my writing & read it as is, would I discover I was writing in another language?]
  8. Totally dig that shade of blue!
  9. Nice chunkie! Is that a red color or orange? Whichever, nice vivid color. I also like the creamy white overpour look a lot more than a clear overpour. I guess it's a contrast thing.
  10. :laugh2:You made me laugh, Tucker. She'll need them for when she pees her pants when you come out wearing slinky black panties. Would they be the thong variety or ...? (Couldn't resist being a smart a$$, hope you don't mind that it was at your expense ).
  11. You'll have to let us know how things turn out at the gallery. If you have any unsold 'canes, I will be VERY surprised.
  12. It wasn't *that* ugly. Actually, I thought it looked kinda interesting. It's good to experiment, to see what happens. Even if it turns out to be a bad idea, it could led to a better one. You just never know.
  13. Cute! hehehehehehe I like the dot one, but the overpour color is not to my taste, but I wouldn't call it a fugly. The top one appeals to me the most. I just wish your pix were a bit bigger so I could make out more detail. I'm not sure who I'm quoting, but it works for me, too .... I have old eyes.
  14. Looks like you've got some mottling on the bottom layer. I really like candles that have multiple textures. I also like that your layers are subtle ... I'm guessing that's the result of using the same color. NIce rustic. Does one have to "splash" in order to get the rustic look or is the rustic look more the result of pouring temp?
  15. Those jars put me in mind of thread spools. I like that they have the same diameter from top to bottom. I like to make my wicking issues simple. lol. That's a great bubble gum pink!
  16. Great 1st mottles! Funny, I have the peak's navy liquid ('I'm assuming it's the liquid - plz correct me if I'm wrong) & have not liked the color results I've gotten, but I dig the blue you got. Maybe I didn't use enough.
  17. Very cool prototype, Donita. Looking forward to seeing the ones you put up for sale.
  18. I'd like to suggest that you work on one thing at a time. So, instead of doing both rustic & layers, just work on rustics. Baby steps. Use fewer ingredients (i.e. no FO, one color, one additive). Start w/ the simple & move toward the more complex. Once you master an element, move on to the next. Have no expections about the finished candle, but be sure to have an open mind so you can learn from your happy accidents & unfortunate conclusions. Are you keeping notes?
  19. Do you have a checking acct? If so, you could probably get a debit card, which you can use to make online purchases. I do all the time. There's no cc company out there cwazy enough to give me one (thank God)!! You'll find the successful chandlers are those who never give up. I hve problems w/ rustics, too. Right now, I'm very happy to admire other's successes. I also like that little bit of color on the top.
  20. I just saw the balloon arrangement - how did you get the roses in there w/o breaking the balloon? What an enchanting centerpiece. High five on it, too. :highfive:
