  1. Ooooh, you cheated! lol. Good for you. Sometimes the trick is just finding the method that works best to achieve your aims.
  2. God only knows what color you'd get if you remelt that. Too bad the wick wasn't the right size. :undecided
  3. I wouldn't call that a powder blue ... I call that FABULOUS! I wish my eyes were that color.
  4. Well, what I can tell is that your pix looks level. Good job on that accomplishment. I think that's the hardest part about making 'canes. Do you have a tripod or a table top tripod? If you're taking pix in a low-light situation, most point-n-shoot cameras will automatically select a slower shutter speed; so any movement shows up. Using a tripod or such will take care of that. You can also use the timer on your camera to avoid jarring the camera when you press down on the shutter button, esp when it's sitting on a tripod. Hope that helps.
  5. Lol. Don't I KNOW it! My 1st 2 'canes look horrid & someday I'm going to have to remelt & strain the melted wax (the 1st one I used organic plant matter) to have another go'round. That might be sooner than later since I'm not seeing any high melt wax available thru Peak's. Well, I look forward to seeing your next one.
  6. Hey, I have that triangle mold! I'm just getting ready to "season" it. How long did you wait to pour between layers? Both those colors are great. Now I want to play!
  7. I like how the top of the image nearly reaches the top of the 'cane & how the most important part of the pix, his face, is adequately illuminated by the flame. Good job.
  8. Good golly miss Molly, where's mine & where's a spoon? That looks so yummy. What a great, rich brown you got there!
  9. The only opinion I have is .... turn on the lights!
  10. Too bad we can't discern greater detail of your pix. It seems to me that making a rustic using palm wax is kind of a waste since the rustic appearance would presumably mask, to some degree, the feathering of the palm. On the other hand, it could add an interesting counterpoint to the texture. Palm comes in either pillar or container waxes.
  11. Very strange how it split at the top. I'd love to see a pix of the lit candle from the side to see how it glows, if isn't too late.
  12. Are those egg shaped votives w/ lids? What a clever idea!
  13. So glad I could be of assistance. :highfive: Congratulations on making such a beauty. What a beautiful shade of yellow ... puts me in mind of a banana bomb pop. Gotta test 'em to verify your relief holes were sufficient to make sure you weren't cursed w/ a horrible air pocket, or two, or three. Not to rain on your parade ... just saying .... Looking forward to seeing more!!
  14. It looks like a beginner's candle ... but just 'cuz the design looks simple. I like the vivid white you have, the brightness of the yellow, & the gloss. It's not something I would buy, though, but it would inspire me to get in to carving candles.
  15. Ooooooooooohhhhhhhh, I love it when someone listens to me. Great 'canes Lin. Thanks for showin' 'em!
  16. Yellow may be caused by using regaular light bulbs, which are made with tungsten. Perhaps you've heard of a type made by GE, I think, that is "white" light. They probably cost more than regular light bulbs, but for photographic purposes would be well worth the expense. Just a thought ...
  17. You've got the rustic thang down!
  18. Got any palm wax to put in that mold? Oh yeah, baby, palm is soooooo the way to go w/ irregular shaped molds since palm isn't all consuming. Now I want that mold.
  19. Lin, do you think you can stand hearing one more time how awesome your ... wait a sec ... is that wicked? Gorgeous!
  20. Those are wonderful! Nice, bright, vivid colors. Ahhhhhhh, they're so cute. Really great colors.
  21. It looks good from afar. I like how the wall was painted in that way & the yellow color & patterning. 'cane & wall go well together. Just shoot a little closer or edit out the extraneous stuff around the 'cane so you can size it bigger. Bigger is better, you know. I really would like to see more detail of your 'cane. I'm wildly attracted to it. I hear it calling my name ... It's speaking to me.
  22. Ahhhhhhhh. Wow, those look very cool.
  23. A camera system? Do tell. I just got my 1st digital. I pretend he's my bf. His name is Canon; race: digital. I like to say "he's not very cuddly but he's great company!" I've been spending many a night reading the manual & playing w/ it. I'm working on a new system too... acquiring this & that for macro ... yeah takes a lot of my time. I confess phototgraphy is my 1st thang. Great 'canes. You made me think of a couple pix I have that could be real interesting material for a similar project. Mmmmm. But it will have to wait 'til I get done playing with my thang. Could be a while. lol. You make me want to make 'canes. I wish had the wax. sigh. You said this was just some of 'em. Come on, let's see some more!
