  1. It's the dupe for White Barn's Aspen Winter -- or did Slatkin take that one over?? Either way, it's "Aspen Winter" and not just "Winter"...I'm not even sure if WB still puts this one out during the holidays or not. I haven't had to buy it ever since carrying the one from JS I love it!!!
  2. My main reason for never adding dye to our candles was this: suppose someone really loves apple cinnamon candles, but they can never have it because the traditional "red" color of that scent clashes with their decor. With dye free, every scent matches
  3. DO NOT get Vanilla Caramel Cream -- it's extremely weak OOB and even worse in parasoy wax. I let it cure for over a week and it still had zero HT...even the CT is weak. It's the only one I've had problems with thus far, other than Amber White <~~ too light for candles, but may save it for b&b
  4. When I was testing 6006, I found that CD's worked best (but I hated them) -- I found that I could wick up one size with zinc wicks and it was doable with most scents. In other words, if a 44z normally worked in an 8oz tin with KY's Perfect Blend, then a 51z worked with the 6006 (yes, I'm a former PB user myself)
  5. I use that wax, but heat mine to 180, add FO, stir for a minute or more, and pour around 155. I use a 9% FO load with most oils (less on the really strong ones) and I've always had great results (more than 8-10 hours per tart).
  6. I 2nd Backwoods -- I received a sample through the classies here...it's the best one I've smelled yet!! I plan on ordering it myself for cp soap
  7. Good to know cuz that one smells amazing in a tart! So far, hubby has only cp soaped the purple sage & mint from him -- it was so light out of the bottle that I was worried, but the notes really came alive. Please continue to post your cp results with his oils....
  8. @ RWV -- the maple is detected in the sweetness, but not enough to make it stand out and smell like syrup. To me, it smells just like the one from Yankme...and my customers have been hooked on it for four years
  9. I used the one from NG last year -- I thought I liked it okay until I tried the one from JS this year. In my experience, JS has the best BBW and Yankme dupes...they're always spot on for me!
  10. USPS DOES NOT cover candles being melted due to heat...even with insurance! I have this info posted on our site, so our customers know that they're taking a chance when ordering in the summer! I've never had any complaints and I ship six days a week...
  11. You get those "I don't have a good feeling about this" moments for a reason... In my opinion, drop ship = nothing but trouble
  12. I actually use/have used lots of oils from JS and love them (some of them are even from her bodacious line) -- I do use a parasoy and not straight soy, but this is what works well for me: Cherry Slushie Vanilla Buttercream Crunch Vanilla Shake Harvest type Vanilla Sandalwood Dirty Dancing Almond Cookies Caribbean Salsa (one of my personal faves) Fudge Brownie Sinful Sandalwood (not a great throw in candles/tarts, but awesome in b& Island Nectar (not a great throw in candles/tarts, but awesome in b& Pumpkin Marshmallow (smells like butt OOB and even takes several days to cure before it smells right, but it is nice once it does) Frosted Pumpkin (one of our best sellers) Pumpkin Cheesecake Sage & Citrus (never smelled the original, but her dupes are usually spot on) Vanilla Bean Noel (dead on dupe and super strong) Aspen Winter (dead on dupe -- one of my favorite holiday scents) Lover Boy (not strong at all in candles/tarts, but yummy in b& Coffee Cake & Spice (not as strong as some I've tried, but for $10...) Vanilla Silk (smells like rice krispie treats to me) Sun & Sand Blonde Bombshell (smells like a strong sweet tart) Be Thankful Okay, there are lots more but those are off the top of my head....hope this list helps I know some people don't care for JS, but I personally have had more 'yes' oils than 'no' oils from them...
  13. I can't remember if the one I used came from OBI or somewhere else -- ordered a bunch of them a couple of years ago through a co-op here and kept one for myself. NOT IMPRESSED!! I put mine in the bathroom and I tried several different tarts (even my strong ones) and it barely put out any throw. It's now collecting dust in the cabinet.
  14. Good to know!! I wish he would put what it is instead of making up new names for them -- it makes you spend unnecessary money. Luckily, I figured out on my own that his Autumn-something was just a dupe of Twilight Woods. In my opinion, it's important to put that info!
  15. I've used several of their oils recently with no problems, but I haven't used the two you're having problems with -- I would DEFINITELY contact Luis and tell him the problems that you're having. But I wouldn't totally disregard the wax as not being the problem -- even though IGI should universally be the same, I've had batches here and there with water in them (not with IGI, but with other waxes). I recently had Vanilla Bean Noel separate from my wax and this is an oil I've never had problems with. So, the water in the wax was my issue!

  17. Just browsed through AAA's website since I'd never heard of 'em -- what is it with companies who don't put scent descriptions??? Ugggh, that just irritates me!!
  18. I've put the following into my parasoy tart wax (ALL HAVE VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT THROW): Vanilla Silk - I really love this one -- kinda smells like rice krispie treats to me Vanilla Shake - yep, smells just like one Pumpkin Caramel Cake - the pumpkin overpowers the caramel but it's still a great one Loverboy - this is such an intoxicating scent; it's not super strong, but it doesn't have to be...the scent just lingers so nicely Praline Pound Cake - yum Raisin Bread w/ Buttercream Frosting - this is the only one I personally don't care for...has a weird zing in there I don't like
  19. That's why I'm always afraid to buy perfume dupes -- I never know what the original smells like, so I end up changing the name to something else so customers who DO know what it smells like don't/can't complain
  20. Glad I could make you laugh But in all seriousness, some people really think that if you throw up a website or open up an Etsy shop that the sales will just pour in....I just always like to make that comparison because it certainly fits!! ;-)
  21. We have a website and an Etsy shop -- we sell plenty of candles and 'plain' ole tarts! While our Etsy shop does far better than our website, our website traffic has picked up greatly since interacting with our customers on FB and promoting it. So, yes, an online business can be very successful. You just have to be willing to put forth some effort -- this isn't the Field of Dreams where "if you build it, they will come" ;-)
  22. The best peach IMO is/was Fresh Peach from KY -- literally smells like a fresh peach! I love citrus combos -- mountain dew, lime cooler, sweet orange & chili pepper, coconut lime, etc. Apple scents are another favorite -- don't care if it's a sweet fresh apple or a baked apple scent....they're all great!! One of my all time favorite fruity scents though is Butt Naked from The Candle Source (peach, melon, strawberry, vanilla, coconut) -- different from all other Butt Naked fragrances and simply divine! Super strong and fruity!!
  23. Just thought I'd post results --- I went ahead and ordered a case to play around with. I find this wax to be very close if not identical to KY's parasoy tart wax, so if I ever find myself in a dilemma again I know where to go! Since Aroma Haven will be carrying KY's tart wax, I'll get it from her...if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? ;-) Still wanted this info to be there in case anyone else wanted/needed info on the one from Tennessee...
  24. I've actually pondered your same question -- we carry over 100 fragrances, but not all of them are in candle/tarts AND b&b products. Our products have a pop-up scent window so they don't have to bounce back and forth looking at descriptions....BUT....the problem comes in when they see a scent they like but it isn't in the product they're wanting. I do make a statement at the top of the scent list that not all fragrances come in all products, etc.....but we all know that people don't read! I've considered having on my sidebar: Candle Fragrances, Tart Fragrances, Body Butter Fragrances, Soap Fragrances, etc. -- by doing that, my pop-up scent description windows would then be exclusive to just those scents in that product. No more confusion as to why a scent is listed that isn't in a particular product. Now that I've typed this into words, I may just go do it....so thanks for the nudge! ;-)
