  1. Oh gosh I love the colors on your soap! This would be a great Fall soap, with those awesome colors. Reminds me of Autumn... HALLOWEEN time!! I love Halloween!! Great Job!!
  2. I have no clue! I guess I'll have to wait and see!! LOL I don't think it would. But as soon as I can test them, I'll be sure to let you know!!
  3. Eh... it came out alright. Better than I thought it would! I did notice a few small holes in some of the bottoms of the soap. Air bubbles? There is nothing leaking out of the holes, so I'm assuming it's air pockets. Is it best to slam your mold a few times against the counter to get out air bubbles?
  4. Wow Grandma!!! They look LOVELY!! I wouldn't worry about the specks... you can market it as exfoiliating! LOL Real nice bar!! Love the swirls you achieved! I'm still trying to achieve mine!! LOL
  5. I'm trying!!! It's so hard when you're addicted. I need professional help. I need my soap!! Hopefully... I'll get it Monday!!
  6. LOL I will post pics tomorrow morning. LOL Maybe around noon... I'm sleeping in late. LOL
  7. This is really appealing!! Very classy and upscale looking! I like the bow on there now. Looks girly. I love it.
  8. Yes, I used an oil soluble dye. First time using black though... the other colors behaved nicely... the black... no. LOL I really do think it was the coloring... I don't think it was the FO.
  9. I think you did a good job! Very eye appealing! I'd do what one of the others said... next time, decorate each bar with maybe three beans... but the look you've achieved really caught my eye! Makes a nice looking texture!! Exciting!
  10. Oh man.... My first batch that really seized on me. When I added the black dye, it started with the consistency of applesauce. ACK! Added the FO, mixed with SB for a few seconds, it smoothed out. As soon as I'm pouring.. it starts making these lumps in the mold. I had no time to swirl :embarasse I TRIED to swirl... but I think I just made things look alot worse. It's hard to see the clumps and lumps in the pic. My swirl portion was ALOT thinner than the pour portion. It may end up looking like a layer...lol... but I really have no idea what this will look like cut. I'm thinking something like CRAP. But hey... it could have been worse!! LOL Trial and Error Babe. Scented in Chrome (type) from Solas.
  11. I know, my Pina Colada has a heavy pineapple smell, not too much coconut. Not too many people request this scent. I scent my Foot Scrub in it... I only did it because of summertime... wanted a summer scent for the scrub, since this is the time of year people wear sandals, flip flops, or just go barefoot. It sells in the foot scrub. But not too many requests in this scent for other products. I had ordered a plain Coconut from The Candle Source, and I was not satisfied. Too perfumey. Ugh. Where do you get your Pina Colada from? I got mine from Cajun Candles. It's STRONG.
  12. It smells STRONG. Really strong. Yes, it is that bright of a green! LOL Supplier said it depends on the season and harvest of it. She said the green is actually more desirable because it has the most nutrients. It really does feel different on my skin when I tried it straight out of the container. In my opinion, this green shea moisturizes alot more better than all the shea's I've ever bought! It's just so hard to hide that smell. Even my strongest FO that I usually use for unrefined shea doesn't cover it. I'm just going to use it for CP. I ordered some more shea from Scent Works. I think it's the best shea I've ever tried.
  13. I bet if I'd send you my Whipped Shea Soufflee... you wouldn't know the difference... I have only ONE oil that completely covers the smokey smell. So, I only do it in this scent.
  14. Kelly... let me tell you... I can't stop putting body cream on scented in this scent! I wore it today, and I got compliments all day on it. I did the body cream in this scent and I did a body spray with cyclo. Let me tell you... this scent really rocks in cyclo. I need to order a bigger bottle next time. I've been telling all my customers about it... and they are begging me for scent samples! Just the name alone sounds so luxurious and graceful!! It really catches their attention!! I think the next big batch I do, I will add some silver mica to give the body cream a sort of sheen... like pearls!!! Ooooh! LOL
  15. Your bars are sooooo purty. I love them.
  16. Girlfriend... lol... I don't even know the first thing about discounting water!! LOL I'm just learning all this... I wouldn't know how to do that. LOL I know it's basically cutting back on your water, but how much do you know how to cut back? Will the soap calc calculate the correct lye percentage if I discount the water? See, I'm so clueless. :embarasse
  17. Ok... let's say, I'm doing a 3lb recipe. Can I add say... a cup of sea salt at trace, pour in mold... and NOT put it in the oven? Has someone ever done something like this? I like the idea of adding the sea salt to the liquid. So, I'm thinking if I try this, I add the sea salt to my water/liquid/etc, stir until dissolved, then add my lye? I just don't want to have some kind of disaster chemical reaction because of the salt. LOL I think I will try both ways... adding the salt at trace, without putting it in the oven... AND a batch of using sea salt water.
  18. I've read about the salt bars, I've even tried one, and I love them. I haven't attempted to make a batch though. I'm going out on a limb here...lol... but my mind is always rolling... So I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to add Sea Salt to their soap at trace? I bought this bar one time from a very popular and reputable soaping company, and it was called a Sea Salt Bar. It was not like a salt bar. It looked like the salt was added at trace, with medium sea salts sprinkled on tops of the bar. It was a very cool looking bar. I'm a big believer in sea salt. It heals wounds, acne, and draws toxins out of the skin. It can be drying to some people though. When I was younger, and our family would go to the beach, if we had any "boo-boo's"... our mom made us go play in the water. By the next day... our boo-boo's were healed! Helped with acne as we got in our teenage years. I would love to experiment and make something like this... has anyone added sea salt to their soap at trace?
  19. I bought this scent, along with a few others the other day, it came in... and my God!!! This scent rocks!! It is to DIE FOR in body cream. I'm curious on how it will do in CP... the smell is a little on the light side, I'm wondering if the scent would stick in soap? I think I will be ordering a bigger bottle next time... I really want to add this to my line. Has anyone soaped with this scent?
  20. I've tried lots of sandalwood too, but I have to say, I'm really impressed with the Sandalwood from The Candle Source. It's very STRONG... I'm not a sandalwood fan... but I have alot of customers who ask for it. I bought an 8ozer... kept my fingers crossed... and I got it in the other day... and this scent will be a dream in CP soap. I can't wait to soap it. I really like it. Alot. LOL
  21. Maryann... your soap is dreamy. Me and this bar of soap have a relationship in the shower.... lol... I'm in LOVE.
  22. OH No!! That purty soap melted?!? Awww.....Shucks. Oh well, use it as an excuse to make another batch!!!!
  23. For my body butter, I just scoop it in the jar and tap it on the counter a few times as I'm putting it in there... smooths out my tops. I also don't put it too full.. I leave a little "headspace".... it looks more professional that way. Who wants to open up a jar of cream or body butter and some of it's all stuck on the lid? LOL I do think the jars are more convienient for customers instead of a pump. That way they can scoop in there and get every last drop of that wonderful product! :highfive: Your welcome Kelly... and my real name is Donna:grin2:
  24. I've used both unrefined and refined in a body butter, and my customers like the unrefined better. I do add a strong FO... so the smokey smell isn't there anymore... but they prefer the texture. I find when I use refined shea, it gets grainy. The best unrefined shea I have used so far is from The Scent Works... a beautiful golden color, real soft, mushy texture... It was a breeze to whip up. No melting... just dump in the bowl... and WHIP. And no grainy texture AT ALL with this shea. Awesome.
