  1. I really like those. The rustic is my fav...what do you do to get it extra frosty?? Cute votives
  2. Well, I'm going to try to explain this. As it isn't a visual thing I hope I succeed so someone can tell me what was wrong. I made (1) 3x4.5 pillar using the following: Ecosoya PB 1 purple dye chip/pp 1/2 tsp of coconut oil/pp (one week old, has been in fridge entire time) 1 LX 26 wick (tabbed and pre waxed from Peak's) 1.5 oz of Violet Lime FO from CandleScience/pp I'm doing my first burn test and I have this odd smell like melting plastic?? It is chemical-ee smelling (for lack of a better word) like plastic. It isn't super strong strong, but it is there with the Violet Lime making it smell off...is it possibly the CO? Also, I added the wick after making the candle. So the wick wasn't sitting in the melted wax during creation. Maybe my nose is just off tho too...just odd.
  3. It is quite possible the owner may not be able to smell the candle in her own store. As hard as it is to believe I couldn't smell Pier 1 candles in a Pier 1 store and very few could I smell in my own home for the entire 3-4 years I worked there....*shrug* If you are around it for a long time (8 hours + a day) you can't smell it. So, in short, ignore the manager/owner not being able to smell it. I like the business card part. I would not go to the manufacturer either, I'd go to the store. AND I agree with scented, someone had to have started all that talk. Perhaps someone else wants to sell their candles there over yours? *shrug* Maybe an educational workshop for the employees on the craftsmanship of your candles would be good? Not a step by step this is how it is made thing, but something about quality and craftsmanship and how to properly burn a candle so they can turn around and educate their shoppers. It makes them experts on selling your candles and shoppers like experts to help them shop. Get a small sample candle for the employees of their favorite summer scents and re-excite them about your product. *shrug* Just an opinion/suggestion.
  4. Where do you buy 'sticky wax'? is it really called 'sticky wax' or does it have another name??? that is so awesome!
  5. Has anyone bought any of their fragrances for soy? I don't see any of theirs listed in the Soy FO favorites...I was just curious. They have neat names and I'm a sucker for names/marketing/packaging *blush*
  6. Wow! I paid 14.99...I've gotta go look in the fridge at the amount in the jar to determine if I should be sore about the price
  7. SO I tried this on Ecosoya PB. I had to drive to the other side of town to Wild Oats, but hey, all in the name of candles, right? I used 1 tsp pp of wax. 1.5 oz of FO pp wax (that is what I generally use in ecosoya pb). Cold throw awesome-- so so strong I walk by the candle and can smell it...and it is only one 3x4 pillar!. Better than in the past and nice shiny outside instead of the usual outside that gets alot of oogley fingerprints and frosting. No real frosting and it is two days later...going to burn it for hot throw testing later tonight or tomorrow. Very cool! FO Sage Pomegranate (very sagey, not so pomegranatey *shrug*
  8. I've only used Ecosoya PB, but I am a newbie. I like it though No complaints. Still wick testing though and FO testing...and yea...testing. Isn't that the best part though?
  9. Already got my wax Wednesday from Peak's. Yay! And I am so excited! Waiting for the UPS man to show up with the FO I ordered from Candle Science...I'm trying out Pomegranate/Sage, Wildberry Mousse, and Violet Lime...*shrug* They all sounded different & I've not tried their scents yet *sits and waits for UPS Man*
  10. WOW!! I want to come shop at your store!!!! That is awesome! Congratulations! Just way too cool...Wish only the best for you ))
  11. That was the most awesome thing to read! Congratulations That is so awesome!!!
  12. Very spiffy! Where did you get the twig and berries scent from? That does sound good!
  13. Too cool! Is there a secret to making the jelly parts look so liquid-y sweet and the crusts so rich and crisp??
  14. All of them look fabulous! So fabulous!
  15. Wow! Thanks soapersworkshop for your link! That gave me alot of insight on pricing I wouldn't otherwise have considered. It is a long way off before I ever sell anything but that was a great breakdown. <3 this board
  16. *smacks head against computer monitor* Thank you! I was having a blond moment I guess
  17. an ornie??? I still can't figure this out.
  18. Out of curiosity (and since you brought up packaging tarts)...could one package the tarts in chocolate's foil? without losing scent? similar to this: http://www.surlatable.com/product/id/126890.do Just curious how that would work and any problems that may arise from it, if any?
  19. I love food scents and the colors rock! The mint green is awesome
  20. lol that is so funny, but true. Great thing about being in business for yourself and not working for a corporation, you can pick and choose your customers instead of having to appease them when they are wrong
  21. I had to look at your website to get what you meant by no product I get it now. Just change the website so the drop down automatically goes to the first item and they can change it to the following items if need be *nod*. As for her...she is being difficult, but as any business grows you'll get the difficult person here and there and it isn't what you say, but how you say it. I worked for a year in a retention center (i convinced people to keep using AND paying for a product they had already tried and for whatever reason did not want to keep using it). Most of my calls started out with someone yelling four letter words at me. To complete any negotiation and win the customer back into using the service the following formula was used: 1. Cushion/comprehension statement, something usually starting with, "I understand you are upset because <regurgitate why they are upset>" 2. Gain trust/friendship "If I went through that/If that happened to me/If I was put in that situation I would be upset too" 3. Take control/action statement "WHAT I AM GOING TO DO FOR YOU IS (whatever you are going to do for them)" 4. Gain commitment/agreement statement (easiest statement to remember) "OK?" What you do in that little bit of time is you let them know you listened to them rant, you let them know you listened, you gave them empathy, and you took control back in the conversation and by say "This is what I am going to do for you" --you made it seem like you were doing them a favor; that you were going out of your way to help them. By ending with OK, you are given a greater chance of them replying "OK!". It is hard to reply to someone who says OK? without saying OK in return. It can still happen, but if you say OK they will usually go OK back in response. If they hesitate too long you repeat OK?? But say nothing else. First one to talk in response in a negotiation typically loses. Sometimes with particularly difficult people you have to just be blunt and say, "I will take part of the blame for the following situation, HOWEVER you are responsible for (whatever they are responsible for)...SO WHAT I AM GOING TO DO FOR YOU IS yada yada yada, OK?" That would be my future advice for any similar difficult customers in resolving any issue and keeping the sale. An action plan for what you would offer customers in those situations is always good, be it a discount, a free exchange for another similar item, etc. In my current job we ask three questions at the close of a sale in hopes to get repeat business and resolve any unresolved issues (often times people won't tell you anything is wrong when there is something wrong, because they feel bad, but they won't return again). Questions we ask: 1. How was our service? 2. Could we have done anything better? 3. (if we could have done something better or they were unsatisfied) What can I do to make it up to you, because we want to make sure you leave here completely satisfied? *shrug* Just food for thought. On a non business side of thing, I think that lady you dealt with was a moron NO CANDLES FOR HER! (thinks soup nazi, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!") no worries be happy
  22. thanks for the replies...Teal would probably look better *nod* for juniper breeze I used ecosoya PB on the swirl...that is just the color of the overlay without coloring it...just white soy...I'm thinking of getting more paraffin and trying it...I just went out on a soy binge lately. Definately going to try what you said moz and get the rings closer to the edge and the heat gun too I use to like juniper breeze...until I poured it. Something was just over lotiony-y smelling in it for me and coated my tongue with that lotion-y smell (if that makes sense??). It took a while to make anything taste right after smelling that LOL. thanks all
