  1. Hope this works. This is my crackle candle I tried (terrible colors and hate the smell, personally) and my swirl candle (not too shabby, would like more color, but it is otay). Ugly green one is Juniper Breeze type and the swirly one is clean cotton. Link goes to: My Picasa Web Album I can't seem to upload the thumbnails...ohs well.
  2. Yea...it is hot here this week...only going to get worse Hate AZ summers. MP true dat...didn't think of that. *ponder*
  3. I worked at Pier 1 in college and they just box their candles and ship them on the box truck with everything else. Nothing was ever melted. No special packaging or anything. That was in Texas in the summers even. Just small cardboard boxes with candles.
  4. I tried to find all my threads I read in my search, here is some of the info...You know I always have problems with the square ones tho. The round pillars always tend to burn better Quotes from other similar threads: (sorry I didn't note who quoted what) "In my experience ECO, CD, or LX wicks burn wider, and RRD tends to burn down. You could even put a Square Braid in there, about a #2 or #3. They melt really wide." "IMO the LX's sometimes need to be upped at least 2 sizes than from what is recommended." "And RRDs will bend as much as CD/HTP in soys, but bend less in palm waxes. In 2.5" containers you'll need at least an LX24 with something like the "advanced" soys and at least an LX26 with the "regular" soys. With the paraffin/soy blends start at around LX18. (All assuming 6% FO.)" Wick Chart from CandleWic I don't know if that helps at all, but it is some of what I found...I just used the google search tool for the boards above and looked for threads on LX wicks. g'luck
  5. A couple years back a friend and I were going to start our own business...nothing to do with candles or any tangible product, for that matter...A great resource many towns/cities have is SCORE They do the following: 1. Hold meetings/learning sessions (those are for small fees) for up and coming business owners as well as current business owners 2. provide you with a counselor(s) (free of charge--at least here it was) that help provide you with tools & advice you'll need 3. provide you with alot of the connections you'll need to get started and grow your business. This organization is made up of working and retired business owners that succeeded in your area. This maybe something to look into. The nice thing for us was having that group of individuals to brainstorm with and point out the things we had overlooked, hand;t even thought of, etc. Other thing I would suggest to take a look at is: SBA I really don't believe you need to pay money to get the information you need to start your business...Make sure you don't dish out money to someone to make a business plan for you, etc. You need to/should make your own for more reasons than I could list. The only time we paid money during our initial planning stages was to purchase software to create our business plan and we spent no more than 20 bucks, though we could have gotten away without it. That is just my 2 scents *shrug* We never started our business in the end...I don't regret it tho. I like candles more
  6. I think I already found my answers in another thread :embarasse
  7. Has anyone tested these in their soy pillars? I use 1.5 oz FO/lb soy wax and I'm leaning towards the LX 26, but don't want to over wick. Just curious. *shrug* If not the LX's what do you use??
  8. Do you think this is something you could do with soy?? Why or why not?
  9. hmmm...I have to think on that one...*ponder*
  10. scoops : http://www.lemelange.com/scoop.htm http://www.chemistrystore.com/bathsaltjars.htm The second one is a better buy, first one you have to scroll down past the sea shells.... *shrug* I'm sure there are more out there. Basically, they're salt scoops for b&b stoof.
  11. Martini Tarts sent me this link for a seller on ebay that has those little jelly bean molds too (as well as other tart/embed molds) at reasonable prices: http://stores.ebay.com/Sue-Croft-Candles_Tart-Embed-molds_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm Scoopable tarts would be cute packaged in a tin with a scoop attached to it. *nod* Reminds me of dip n dots ice cream for some reason tho...*ponder*
  12. Do you have any programs like photoshop or anything? You can take a picture in there and just make it black and white.
  13. I like those as well. Where do you get such adorable molds for your tini tarts?
  14. I currently use the ecosoya's pb for pillars and tarts. I like it overall and haven't had any problems that I can think of. I'm fairly new at the entire thing however. For the pillars my biggest problem was getting a big enough wick...I started out using the the same ones I used for my first paraffin candles LOL. I suppose I should have read more first!
