  1. Because sometimes things made by one manufacturer are just a little bit different than things made by another. Some people just prefer one over the other so people carry both. *shrugs*
  2. I do like the C3, and like the others had some sinkhole issues. I just poke a couple relief holes when it's setting up and do a topping pour. I feel better poking the relief holes anyway, that way I know for sure there are no airpockets down inside
  3. That would be way cool! If I can find a digital camera to use I'd love to post some pictures of my soy/paraffin blend pillars after having been burnt for a while. They don't burn like paraffin of course and I'd love to know if other people get the same kind of thin shell thing going on.
  4. I'm SO glad nothing worse happened to you or your kitchen!!!!!!
  5. Hotplates rule my world!! I keep a 5 gallon bucket of water with a plastic pitcher next to the table with the hotplates so I can easily add water to the pot on the burner so it doesn't boil dry.
  6. Here it's been more the humidity than the heat.... We don't normally have both heat and humidity at the same time in Seattle except for maybe 2-3 weeks in late summer. We've been unusually humid and even my container candles have been developing little pock marks and very weird jump lines that aren't even where they've been topped! The solution has been a garage tent set up indoors with a dehumidifier running.....
  7. Yup, water bath just like the others said. Plastic molds are notorious for that kind of stuff. Sometimes you can shine up the candle with a little tiny bit of mineral oil, but that won't work with funny spots and jump lines.
  8. The shrink wrap can react with the candle depending on which kind you're using. I haven't used shrink wrap in a long time, but I'm remembering that I had to be careful what kind I bought. Maybe someone else will know. Also, there are some scents that just do that, have you tried not shrink wrapping some and then comparing after the shrink wrapped ones have changed?
  9. If you want a coral type peach color, use a tiny bit of orange and a tiny bit of red, more of one than the other depending on which way you want the color to look more like!
  10. Added to what the others have said, I also think that people that regularly burn soy are totally used to it looking like that!
  11. Some of it also can be caused by bumps and lumps on the insides of the containers. A lot of places seem to have nice exteriors on their containers but the insides have concave and convex spots which can really mess up your adhesion.
  12. I do one with lemon, lime and tangerine that people just love!
  13. I've done it in the past, and a few more time during an emergency or when I needed a funny size for burn testing. Yes, you do pretty much what you described, but be careful not to stick the wick too far down into the clip or it won't sit nicely in the container. Also, when you pinch the metal together (I use a small needle nose pliers for this) don't pince TOO hard or you'll bend the base of the tab and again it won't sit nicely.
  14. Working on fall stuff, thinking about Christmas... I've got a sort of pumpkin spice and an apple for fall, mostly will use same scents, just maybe a few different colors.
