  1. I'll go check out the one grocery store we have, the one with 8 whole aisles. :rolleyes2 *lol* But on my days off starting tomorrow, I'll be driving into a real city to shop for groceries anyways, so I'll get it there. Small town living, gotta love it. I'll add "light" oil to my list though. I'll probably get a few different kinds to try these out with, all the ones mentioned here. *lol* Do you experts out there...that includes YOU Blazerina, remember how excited you were when you ordered your very first supplies and were waiting excitedly for them to get to you? That's me right now. I'm terrified now of even attempting soaps or candles, so I'm starting with milk baths, bath bombs, lip gloss, stuff like that. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I can hardly stand the wait!!! *lol*
  2. She might have meant this...I saw it posted down the list a ways...
  3. I live 90 miles away from the nearest health food store. If there is one closer to me, I don't know about it. And 6 years ago, when I lived in a much smaller state, it was 260 miles, one way, to the nearest health food store. I literally can't even buy socks in this town, let alone safflower oil. *lol* Anyways, I am blaming this site for my new online ordering frenzy. I seriously need to stop looking at the recipes and the beautiful pictures thinking that I too can make these items.:undecided Next week or so I'll be receiving stuff I've been ordering...and then what??!! I'm already getting nervous thinking about making stuff!:embarasse I know I want to try to make these bath bombs and many other recipes I've been writing down. Ok, I'm rambling, I'll stop now. Anyways, thank you for the recipe.
  4. I was actually really surprised that Ca. didn't have a ton of suppliers! I lived there most of my life...oh no wait...that's not true anymore now I'm...well...nevermind. ANYWAYS!!! I always thought Ca had everything and then some. Bad drivers...*lol* I am one. I never thought I was...until I had a head on collision. That qualifies me as a bad driver. The black ice kind of got in my way, and I wasn't considered an inexperienced driver at the time. So people that haven't driven in that kind of weather, REALLY scare me now.
  5. WOW! I love them! The brightly colored ones are way cool!
  6. That was a bad day. And PMS~ing wasn't helping either. I've been checking out all the sites that are listed on here and have been ordering stuff from different ones. The UPS man is really nice in this town, he even helps my DIL hide my sons xmas presents out in their garage every year. *lol* With all this ordering I'm doing, I better up his xmas present. He won't take cash, so I have to be creative each year.
  7. Thank you, I'll need all the luck I can get *lol* I wish you all the luck in the world! I hope you add your creations to the B&B Gallery so I can see them! Good luck!!
  8. MsDammit, I LOVE that name! *lol* Thank you for that info. With the luck I had yesterday, they would have been out of THAT as well.:rolleyes2 *lol* But I have added that to my notes. This notebook is getting huge! I ordered kits last night. Hopefully I will be able to make something that isn't atrocious! Can't wait for them to get here!
  9. Simple & easy?? WHERE??!! *lol* I am soo lame at being creative, you have no idea. All of it looks hard to me, and I wish it didn't. Yesterday I learned a hard lesson...buy nothing at Walmart and everything online. So now I have ordered kits with hopefully EASY directions! I already know that no matter what I make will look horrible. Except to my 5 year old grand daughter. SHE will tell me it's beautiful. *lol* She also has a couple of goats...so Grandma will be hitting her up for some milk for soaps. *lol* I love the thought of her growing up & telling HER children about the stories of how her & her grandmother made soap using HER goats' milk.
  10. I've looked at those more than once. *lol* And when you have time, make sure to click on some of the crafters' sites that have them listed under their id name. You'll see tons of beautiful stuff that they sell. I am sooo not a creative person, but I swear this board has given me the desire to create something beautiful.
  11. B & B Gallery is what it's called. have you been there yet?? Grab a cup of coffee and expect to watch for awhile. *lol* I HAD to see every page once I opened it up.
  12. Yep! The crafters on this board are awesome in helping you find out whatever you want to know. And talk about creative people...I am not kidding when I tell you I have never in my life seen so many beautiful handmade soaps & candles! Theres a page just for pictures...you will go crazy if you haven't seen it yet! I look at it every day in amazement. I think it's called B&B something or other. The first one is of pictures. Amazing stuff! But no one seems to mind the stupid questions...they have answered all of mine. I just feel bad asking something that I'm sure has been asked a million times already.
  13. the search feature rocks but unless you know where to search you'll end up going trough a ton of posts trying to find the one that answers your question lol That was addressed earlier today on the "newbie" form down at the very bottom, but evidently doesn't warrant it's own thread to help out others. Having a thread such as that is considered "spoon feeding" us newbies.:rolleyes2 Whatever. I'll just continue to drive everyone crazy with my hundreds of questions because it's impossible to find anything I've asked without some sort of help.
  14. Thank you Rachel! I'm sure you know WHICH Walmart I was at. It's closer to you than me. I'm checking out these sites and ordering TONIGHT. And you're right Dani, the gas alone wasn't worth this trip.
  15. Thank you all! After I wrote all that I felt stupid. *lol* I am going to the site you mentioned mountainmadness and I'm going to spend like a fool! *lol* As for the cuppa, I'm having a diet pepsi that I bought at Safeway! *lol* That was my first time ever walking out without a grocery cart. I was so mad I didn't even laugh until I re-read what I wrote once it was posted. Now I will have to go 90 miles away for decent priced groceries but I don't care. I don't know what it is...but this Walmart I went to hires the wierdest people. At xmas I was buying presents for 2 kids I had never met but are in my soon - to - be family. They went through Katrina and I wanted to get them some nice things. While unloading clothes & toys at the counter, I had my fiance on the cell phone with me who was there visiting. I was making sure I had the right sizes and the right toys. Spiderman and Princess Barbie everything. *L* Anyways, the checker heard me say something like, "Well....I hope I got everything right, it's been fun shopping for kids I've never met." After we hung up, the checker said, "If you want to buy another kid you've never met some things, I have a 5 year old son." She was serious. I didn't really know how to feel about that one, but it stayed with me. Yeah...I'm sooo done with Walmart after today.
  16. Thanks Carriegsxr6, Now that DOES actually make me feel better. Just having someone tell me I wouldn't have found everything makes this experience...better. *lol* I was sooo frustrated. I'm never shopping there again though. There was no reason for someone to be so rude. That "look" on my face couldn't have been all THAT bad! It was kinda like this... *lol* Just kidding. Thanks again!
  17. For days now I've been bugging everyone on this board about how to make soap, bath bombs and dipping bears. I was too impatient to order what I wanted online. So today I FINALLY get out of this horrible tiny town to go to another town, much bigger but just as lame. I get to Super Walmart with this huge list of everything I want. Including groceries which I took care of first. I was so excited that I was finally getting the stuff I wanted for these projects I had in mind. I began with getting the stuff needed for bath bombs. I was almost finished when 'witch hazel" was on the list. They don't have it. Then there was citric acid. (What IS that anyways?) They don't know either so I can't get that. So I flip over to the next page of notes for the stuff needed to dip bears. Can't find any teddy bears, (I'm serious), so I choose 3 little bunny rabbits. I figured what the hell, they are for practice anyways & Easter is coming up. So then I try to get a Presto for the wax. Umm....yeah, they have a daddy small fry or something like that, and thats it. Even these little bunnies don't fit in this tiny thing. So I look at all the pots & pans, and I become disgusted because I don't know the tricks of this trade and what would work instead. So I take a break from that in search of wax. First I looked in the craft section. Dumb move I soon realize. So then I went to the grocery aisle. Nothing. So THEN I went in search of a manager and asked about wax, ANY kind of wax. She brought me to some aisle where they have canning jars. No wax. I must have had this "look" on my face. Because then out of nowhere she looks at a watch she is NOT wearing and has the nerve to say to me.."Well it's NOT canning season yet, what did you expect?" I actually kept my cool for a minute and showed her my list. I had marked the things I couldn't find and she laughed at me and said, "This is Walmart, what did you expect, a kitchen store? That's when I lost my cool and yelled at her.... "What did I expect? How about you not having a friggen attitude with me while I'm standing here with $300.00 worth of groceries?!!!" Then I told her to put the damn groceries away herself because I was going next door to Safeway. So...I drove home, 70 miles away, mad as hell. No bears, no bath bombs, no soap. Oh well. Back to these boards in search of kits.
  18. OMG! I just now saw the pics you put up of your daughter! That is awesome! Thank you soo much! She's adorable!
  19. Hi Jcandleattic! That is sooo good to hear that it's something I'll be able to do! I have to drive past this mans house to go shopping, so I'll be stopping by to talk to him. Ok, how about some really stupid questions...do they have to be a certain age to milk? Does it matter if they are Market or Breeding? You have no idea how excited I am right now about this! I have my shopping list ready to go for everything I'll need. Just waiting for the sun to come out a little to melt off the ice from the roads.
  20. Thank you jbren! Not having to do anything special works for me! However I am LMAO at the thought of me milking goats!
  21. Thank you so much ChrisR! I am going to go talk to him today, the man with the goats. He raises them & sells them. I have no clue if he ever milks them and I also don't know if he would let ME milk them. It's 6am right now and I want to run over there so bad and ask him! *lol* But I'll give it a couple of more hours. That is such a great idea, to freeze them like that! You guys are going to have me so hooked on this whole soap making thing. I am literally leaving to go shopping pretty soon to buy stuff I need to make soap. I have never made any before, and I am really excited!
  22. I am very interested in knowing this as well. I haven't made any soap yet, but I just learned that I could use goats milk and my grandchildren just got 2 baby goats! The couple living next door to my son has a bunch of goats and he gave my grandchildren each a goat for their 4H project and all of his goats eat off of my sons land for free. Is goat milk expensive to buy? Maybe I can make a deal with this man who has all of his goats on my sons land? Is there a process the milk has to go through before using it? How long is the milk good for before it's no good to use? I was already excited to try to make soap for the first time, and now I really can't wait to hear how to use it and what I have to do with it! I hope this thread doesn't get buried!
