  1. hmm.. so would tussah silk not be vegan? Oops.. my question was answered above.
  2. I'm refering to round soap cavity molds. I have used pvc before but I want to do a specific application. Basically I want to cut loofa into 1" round pieces and pour a light trace of soap into the 1.5" cavity mold, drop the cut loofa circle into it then pour soap around it and on top of it. My concern is the whole gel process etc. In the molds I generally insulate so my soap gels. I'm wondering if cavity molds can be used for CP soaps. I'm under the impression that cavity molds are generally for M&P soaps. I'm I wrong with this assumption?
  3. I just started making soap about 4 months ago and have made about 20 batches of soap so far using a 19" log soap mold. I'm doing the CP method and was wondering if using 4 up Round Soap molds works good with the CP process?
  4. Where can you get 16oz of patcholi EO for $30?
  5. Any ideas on good earthy type fragrances and the best place to purchase them?
  6. Looking for either of these fragrances: 1) Molasses (updated found molasses - lonestar candle supply) 2) Biscuits Any help would be much much mucho appreciated. -Patrick
  7. WOooohoOOie. Just curious - why did you give up distilled water? That's currently what I use.
  8. I live right near several natural springs - one of them comes right out of a cliff area. There is a historic mill next to it and I thought it might be a great selling point of the soap especially here locally. Would there be any issues with me using real natural spring water?
  9. All I know is there is absolutely no need to go outside of these boards for molds. We have the best of both worlds here with itsmeJeff and SoapMaker Man. I purchased an 18'in HDPE mold and couldn't be happier. I have a system down where my soap practically slides right out. It takes me under a minute to line my mold and under 15 seconds to break down and release my perfect soap from the mold. I'm planning on heading to SoapMaker Man's house sometime soon to check out his products. All I know is that both give exceptional customer service and stand behind their products 100%.
  10. Dang, I seriously need to drive up to your neck of the woods. I need to hit Springfield soon for some candle wax. People still wanting candles... I use to love making candles until I started soap =P. All I'll probably need is beveller for now. You dont have to give me tallow. I would buy it from you for much higher $$ then what you pay since you put in all of the elbow grease =).
  11. Bah, I read the title of your thread not the post =P sorry.
  12. At the very top of the soap forum there is a sticky thread on scents that rock...
  13. Is Lard the same as tallow? We generally use shortening for our soap but found a glyc recipe that calls for tallow. I'm in southern missouri - is this something that is generally ordered via net? I did a search on the boards with no luck.
  14. crap.. I used one chip =). The orange vanilla soap turned out perfect. Thanks for your info. I would have called candlescience but it was closed and we had already mixed the lye/water and fat/oils when we decided orange lol. oh well.. pretty and yummy smelling soap ALL FOR ME WOOHOOO.
  15. Anyone know if its safe to use dye chips from Candlescience in soap?
  16. did you use that open source zen shopping cart sys? You learned how do actionscript (search) and flash in 3 months! That's awesome.
  17. What's with peoples noses LOL lavendar is a hate or love type of scent.
  18. Thanks! Ya. I was scared ea. time to lol. So many steps and things to consider vs. making container candles. Locals keep asking me when I'm going to make another batch of candles and I don't know what to tell them cuz all I have on my mind is soap haha.
  19. My first three soaps... Hello, my name is Patrick and yes I am a new soap addict LOL. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I did a Garden Mint (Peppermint EO/ Mint&Eucalyptus), Natural Oatmeal (no fragrance), and a Chocolate Lover soap.
  20. I love the way you incorporated scents and metals given at that biblical event. Very cool concept. Curious - which Frank/Myrrh did you use? I like Candlescience’s version but haven’t tried any others.
  21. Hmm.. I just realized that Crisco main ingredient is soy. Is Crisco hydrogenated soy?
