  4. I measured everything exactly using a basic recipe. I think my wife and I removed the soap from the mold too early! The soap turned dark and looked like gel. Which from what I have been reading is normal. However, after washing my hands with some of the excess soap I still feel a small burning from the lye. Couple questions: 1. How do you know for sure when to remove the soap from the mold? 2. I balled up some of the excess scraps after cutting the soap I removed from the mold. We removed it 17 hours after pouring it in the PVC molds. I then used the excess soap in water just to see what it would be like. I can still feel a small burning sensation on my hands. Would this be normal? Does the final curing process make it so that when you use the soap it wont have a burning sensation from the lye using the soap?
  5. I guess I forgot to mention that it smelled like yellow cake mix to me also. Imagine the odds of meeting someone with the exact sense of smell… I generally work with percentages. If more people respond with a specific scent then I will probably put my money on that scent. Another small variable that I forgot to include was that I have to have this candle completed by next Thursday. I don't want to bore you with the details but I will kindly say thanks for the advice. However, sample packs for this particular application unfortunately won't work. I'm out of time. Thanks for ALL of your input ... Daystar's Cake Batter is!
  6. ARrgh I'm caught in the middle I can't decide. The lotion we smelled was labeled "Vanilla Buttercream" however when my wife smelled it she said it smelled like yellow cake mix. I can't decide if buttercream would be more like the yellow cake mix smell or cake batter! =O
  7. Any suggestions on the best vanilla butter cream or yellow cake?
  8. which one? there are two: Candy Cane Longwyck formulation Candy Cane Another fragrance we had formulated just for us!
  9. Ok problem solved. I melted a little wax and made it a very concentrated cranberry and poured it over the top =P. I'm interested in seeing this burn and watching the colors melt together. fun fun
  10. I just poured a Pomegranate and accidentally put in the wrong color block! So now instead of having a cranberry color I have a cinnamon (stick) color. It's a very light tan. Naming it Pomegranate obviously wont make sense due to the color. Question: anyone have an idea on what I might possibly name this candle.
  11. OH MY.. poured it this moring.. its very strong cinnamon as your melting with subtle Sandalwood but dang.. once the wax is cooled its like the perfect blend.. its a VERY GOOD sandal wood with warm hints of cinnamon. This has instantly become one of my favorites and I havent even burned it yet. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
