  4. LOL...are maybe some blondish gold...i wouldnt know that either but i heard of acapoco(sp)gold and then there was jamican red.. but i really like the candle, have often thought about ordering the mold and scent...but then i think who in the world would want a weed scent smelling up their house? now that i am way older the memory smell that i have in my mind, it really didnt smell that good...but back in the day:D
  5. broadzilla, i know the sick feeling very well, my first scents was a peach and mulberry twist....the first time i made candles the mulberry made me dizzy, queasy and man did i puke...i am talking alot..i had to keep turning the melter down and running to the bathroom, i opened windows and turned fans on..finally finished the candles..well a few days later the peach did the same thing....i did find out that if i eat before working with those two, it was better...no other scent has effected me the way those did....i used the scents up..gave away the candles...and i wont ever buy them again..
  6. i use the 6006 and really love it, EXCEPT FOR THE SINK HOLES. but i have too have become one with my handy dandy heat gun..lol..and i am going to build me one of the styrofoam boxes GrayMaire spoke of.. the 6006 has a great hot throw with all the scents i have tried with it, not to bad on wicking either..of course then there is the cure time, i usually wait atleast a week on that..hth
  7. omg, i had followed the same post a while back, and i love the 6006 except for the sink holes, i will most definately make me an insulated box too..thanks Fredron and thanks GrayMaire for updating..
  8. i used a piece of cardboard under glass, traced, and then measured for proper spacing of wicks, used 3, i used 16 oz. of wax, had just a little left over for a votive, filled almost to top, had little to none shrinkage. not sure of wick size, but were zinc. on first test, wasnt sure on the mp, had little hang up, but next burn it all caught up and burnt really nice, entire candle was great, hth
  9. my gosh, i swear i have been all over this site and couldnt find it..like my mom use to say, cant find the forest for the trees..lol...thanks alot, my face is sooooooo red...lol...

  12. sorry dont know a thing about 6228, but i often check the website of supplier and it usually has that kind of info where the wax is located on site. also check to the left of this site -techniques and ideas and/or basic instructions. i often find that helpful..good luck and dont forget to post pics when done
  13. those are so cute, now i want to make some too....and on the bright side you dont have to wick them:p
  14. thanks Patience, i grew up in the 70's too:naughty: wicked does mean good, bad also meant good...lol... not me of course but i remember friends saying stuff like "man that weed is wicked" or that is some bada** stuff..lol...
  15. welcome Justin, this board is as much fun as the candle making, i am rather a newbie too, and have learned a great deal here.. use the search, ask ?, and read, read, read.. its all good..
  16. they are really nice tho..you can send them to me:smiley2:
  17. looks good to me, keep rockin'. i tried the swirl one time, and havent gotten up the courage to try it again:cry2: but you are inspiring me:drool:
  18. these are wisteria, i scented chunks in these, using 1343,stearine,and 1oz of scent, the overpour straight. one of the pics looks blueish, but they are actually purple and a lighter purple. any suggestions are appreciated..and i will be buying me some molds...they are so much fun, i even got my 12yr.old daughter involved making the chunks..she wants to try different shapes.. and just look how good i am now doing posting pics:yay: i also lowered overpour temp to 170 for these.
  19. ok, beings i was dying to try some chunks and didnt have any molds, i used containers. i used 1343 colored chunks yellow, orange, and blue(unscented, no additives) the overpour i used stearine and scented tropical beach. the overpour was at 190, i think a little to hot? does this look about right?
  20. my sister just discovered that burning candles brings on her sons asthma, and it just so happens she had some brand new candles, well a few had been used..so now she is switching to wickless and smelts(using electric burners), so i took all her candles and used heat gun and melted all the wax and made smelts for her.they all made like a walmart bag over flowing full...i used long tweezers to pick out any debris, and believe this or not but one of the candles that hadnt been burnt had stuff in the middle of it..now i ask you ,,how did that happen, and it was bought from a craft show, not store bought.anyways she was happy, she has tarts to last maybe a week:D
  21. I poured about 20 jars, different types, different wicks, yesterday using 6006, only 2 had the sink holes, the other ones had like a raised area around the wick. my kitchen was warm(temp outside was like 70)i had windows open:yay: , i just used heat gun to fill in the sink holes, and smooth out the raised area around wick. i did lower my pour temp from 185 to 170, that does seem to help. i heat jars, and have a big baking sheet (for like commerical ovens, it wont fit in regular oven) that i place over the top of stove(it covers entire top) i have oven on low to heat jars and the heat from oven comes up to top and keeps jars/wax warm for slow cooling. after awhile i move to other location and group closely. wet spots i do get, i use the heat gun again for that, and I TRY to let cure for a week, but dont often make that..
  22. All containers did great, with the lx16's, no soot, good mp, great hot throw...everyone was RIGHT...THE LONGER IT CURES..THE BETTER... there was maybe 2 containers that after the first 3 hr. burn had a little hang up, but it caught up on the next burn..the tureens i doubled wicked using lx16, did good, could have been a little better, think i will wick up a size for those..but the sink holes is still happening..i love the 6006 ..so i quess the holes are something i will just have to live with..
  23. great i had looked at those and thought about ordering some..thanks for letting us know.. great for gifts too..
