  1. i agree kelly, oddly shaped, that is why i did wickless first:grin2: i was on the phone with alabaster earlier, the woman there said to double wick, i didnt think to ask for wick recemendaton. hopefully someone here will. i can say they work great wickless. my family loved them, as they all got candlewarmers for christmas:grin2:
  2. not sure if this is meant for me or raganrock, but i will chime in. the mp stays at about 1/4 in. takes about an hour to get that. and the bad side is now melting down much better than it was. btw i am still learning about the mp, time, depth etc. , what is good what is not. i quess i have been more focused on smoking, sooting, burning even, and the throws, which all go hand in hand..with the mp. sorry ragnarock, if i and i did hijacked your thread.
  3. looks great to me also, job well done..dang it, now i want to try balls.. i too am addicted:laugh2:
  4. i would like to try wicking 8 oz. tureen jar, i used them earlier for wickless, now i want to wick a few, should i double wick? they are 3.75 x 1.75 tall. any advice toward wicks? using igi 6006. have asst. cd wicks. as always thanks
  5. ragnarock 47, i am as new to this as you are, i have tried several waxes also, so far i really like the igi6006,(from lonestar) they have sample slabs(which i like to buy to test) so far the 6006 is great(for me) no problems except for one jar, it tunneled, leaving a void in middle of candle, so i used it for a test jar, and when it burnt down the wick was off centered therefore it left wax on one side that i scraped down to the mp, after that it still burns to oneside..but i am still burning it. i used a cd 7 wick, in the 6.5 oz. 12 sided jar. i do think the wick could be a little small, so i think next time i will wick up one size. btw, cold throw was good, hot throw good, used butterfly kisses for fo, used a medium light yellow for color. and everybody loves the fo. And for the seasoned ppl, please post any suggestions you might have for me. ty
  6. I used the microwave for the 1st time last nite to melt the repour, started with a min. then 30 sec. and another 30 til just right..worked good, for a small amount.
  7. also after you pour the 1st time, and it has set a bit and the shrink starts, poke air relief holes around the wick, use a skewer or something like that, air relief holes helps with the repour..check out the techiques pages on this board, you will see what we mean. i am a newbie too, and is now addicted. this is a great board, great ppl, they will help you alot, you will love it here..
  8. i like it, easy to navigate, need more pics, which i am sure you will be adding. it will be great once you do a little fine tuning.

  10. SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, I WOULD SAY CONTAINER/JAR(16oz) and the others that posted ALABAMA could you please post what area? i am originally from there. lower BAMA, a place called atmore on the florida line..just curious..i like to know where ppl are from..sorry for messing up the thread..
  11. thanks MaryAnn, i thought i thought about that too(wick causing shrinkage)..this is sounding better and better to me..wickless the way to go...
  12. they look great, but i am curious what the butterfly kisses smell like also. i recently ordered that scent, but havent received shipment yet..i cant wait to smell it tho..can you please enlighten me? i was thinking of doing in yellow, something bright...i dunno..any suggestions?? i also ordered the pink sugar..i heard it smells great also..thinking of making wickless...
  13. yes for shrinking wax, wouldnt it still shrink with or without a wick?
  14. hi all, if your making wickless do you still do the air relief holes? i was wondering about that..i think that is what i am leaning towards, wickless..no worries....
  15. ragnarock47, i have seen several post about putting the candles in the oven to soften, and then remelting and repouring..yes it is confusing to me too:D but as much as i read on here i should be an expert..maybe oneday...
  16. ok so what is the web site.. i put in justscents.com and got nothing. i love going to all the recemmended sites and window shopping. i to cant wait to make more candles, but am very undecided on wax and wicks again!!
  17. thanks for the input, i do suspect that is what happened, mushrooming wick, and i proably didnt trim well enough. now i am getting ready to order more wax and wicks also containers, i am thinking of trying peaks, and suggestions on the wax and wicks will be helpful. i would like to make something in the line of 160z. i would prefer glass but i am open to tins. i looked at the website, and am totally confused on which wax and wicks for what container. and another thought...when making wickless do you do them the same as wicks..air relief holes and all? i do know to use short and fat containers tho..that sounds excellent...no wicks no worry:D oh yeah, i havent quite decided on fo yet..i saw several i would like to order and will (proably) one is the storm watch..any advice on that scent...?
  18. i recently ordered a kit from candlesandsuppliesbyfarmhouse, i was mostly satisfied with it, it was $55, you get 12 1/2 pints, 12 pints, 2 8oz scents(your choice) 2 color blocks(your choice) should hve been 24 wicks(ended up being 40) 2 slabs of wax. the only thing i didnt like was no description on wax or wicks( no id number etc..so i have no idea what kind of wax i used or wicks) i could proably go to the site and figure it out...when i get time..so overall i was somewhat satisfied..the wax and wicks did well also..but i can tell you this..the mulberry twist scent is awful..(atleast to me it is..others say it smells like koolaid)
  19. yes i was test burning the candle, it had a good melt pool, all that was fine, just the soot at the top 2inches of jar. as for the wick, it came from farmhouse in the kit, with no description same as the wax.
  20. ok, here's one for you, on the peach candles i did, i had a tester i quess you could say, 1/2 pint, filled about 1/2 way, it burned well for awhile, i would blow it out, burn some more, blow out and so on til it was about an inch left, when it got that low, the top of jar began sooting up..i would say the top 2 inches. what caused this? and that is one thing i hate in candles that i buy:mad: oh yeah, the candle kit is under accessories on farm house, i did go into another page and looked at there different types of wax and found what i think is it...but...... i forgot what it was called..:undecided
  21. hi, newbie here also, i did relief holes in pint jars @2 hours after pour. my instructions said 6 hours, but i figured that if it has set and is cool enough why not, and i did the repour at 4 hrs after 1st pour. candles turned out great, but the scent is horrible, working on my sinus's...its called mulberry twist..and it has to be the most awful i have ever smelled...i just hope the candles itself wont smell as bad or strong. good luck and i can tell you, there is alot of wonderful ppl here that will help you with any problem, and have great advice..one big extended family is what i feel..
  22. wow thanks for the info, i will try to follow the directions on that. funny thing is i went last nite to look at pics again..and the large pic was a thumbnail, i clicked it and went to the bigger...must be some elfs taking care of me:D but no i dont have a paper clip either..i have also tried to find info on when and what determines what.. btw cute child there..:smiley2: he looks real impressed
  23. who do you order supplies thru? if you go to candlesuppliesbyfarmhouse.com look at the kit i ordered, the $55, it seems like there was another kit that was soy,not sure. with this you can wipe up with paper towel, and then a little rubbing alcolhol takes care of any residue left. of course i learned the hard way about putting newspaper on the floor;) . i just made some pints too, i was much more relaxed with these, had temp regulated just right, poured smoothly, but i was reading one of the post and it said out of a 4#vat it should make 6 pints, i only got 5 with very little reserve(hope its enough for repour)anyways i made mulberry twist(which is sickening) and i put in a wine dye,but i dont think i got it dark enough..oh well, i will pass on to my sister to test for me...lol...
  24. 7pawz, i did the 1/2 pints, they turned out well, i did the 1st heat at 170, then the 2nd at 180. out of 4lbs of wax, i yielded 10, sound about right to you? the wax shrunk hardly any. i did air relief holes, if i hadnt, i proably wouldnt have had to do a repour. i have pics in the gallery, check them out and tell what you think. the wax i used came from farmhouse, it is a very creamy almost like shortening, wipes up good:D but i have no idea what kind it is, just a container wax, not suitable for votives it says. i had ordered the kit, so i just got what they sent, no kind of description came with it..so if i wanted to reorder, it would be a quessing game with me..:undecided but i do like it. and i did heat my jars. i am pleased how they turned out. i used a little extra on the fo too, they smell good on the cold throw, havent tried to burn one yet tho. i have a piece of one i made with leftover about 2 inches deep, i may try tomorrow..cant wait..
  25. yes thank you, i can use your help. i uploaded to photobucket straight from memory card, and then when i finally got them to the candle gallery, i have one that is small and the other is huge. i have notice other peeps, they have a thumbnail, you click it to go to a larger size. that is what i want. i did a resize on photo bucket and it resized it, couldnt change it back that is why one is small. when you click it, its the same size. any help would be great. thanks
