  1. I used to use table rates based on total price to determine shipping, but that was not a very good way. Two days ago I got the USPS API account set up and I couldn't be happier. The shipping quotes given to customers come straight from USPS based the total weight of their order.
  2. I use the ones from WSP as well. They work good, although they seem a bit long for the tube if you want the perforation to line up with the space between the tube and the cap. I usually just trim the tiny bit off the bottom before I shrink them on.
  3. open "control panel", and then double click on "fonts" and it should open a folder full of font files. Drag your new font into there and it will show up in word. Hope that helps. If you need anymore help with it please let me know.
  4. I use 4630 container wax. It is a paraffin wax - and it is very soft and sticky. A lot of people will say they don't like it much because of smoke problems, but I haven't had and problems with it at all and really like it.
  5. I'd hope not. I'm guessing that was to test with water to make sure there were no leaks. That's what I do at least. I'd hate to fill it with wax after making it and have a leak.
  6. I agree, I like the spigots too. The only problem I have is that the aluminum on the pot strips out easily when threading it. I have fixed that though, and have made two of these and will probably do another one next week sometime.
  7. My wife decided she wanted to use different jars. As usual; new container, new adventures in wicking. We are now trying 9 oz. and 15 oz. Honey Pot Jars from The Jar Store with 4630 wax. Here are the combinations we have tried: 9 oz. - single LX 22 - melt pool way too small 9 oz. - single LX 30 - burned well but took a while to not have hangup on the sides. 15 oz. - Single LX 30 - melt pool too small 15 oz. - Double LX 20 - (set on the second set out on the wick centering tools - more toward the outsides of the jar) burned well, but took a while to not have hangup on the sides. 15 oz. - Double LX 20 - (set at the first set of holes off center on the wick centering tools) - burned well, but seems to need a bit larger wick I have zinc wicks in the jars I'm going to test with tomorrow, however she was trying to get away from zinc wicks if possible as well which is why we got the LX sample pack. Trying tomorrow morning: 9 oz. - single 62-52-18Z (since this is the only other wick we have right now that may be big enough) 15 oz. - double 51-32-18z (set on the second set out on the wick centering tools - more toward the outsides of the jar) 15 oz. - double 51-32-18z (set at the first set of holes off center on the wick centering tool) 15 oz. - Double LX 22 (set at the first set of holes off center on the wick centering tool) Any suggestions on wicks to try out would be great. I would love to get these jars wicked and set this week if possible. Thanks in advance.
  8. I never use the flash on the camera for product pictures. However I did find a setting on my digital camera that I can't think of right now that made them a bit less yellow. Either way, they are easily corrected in photoshop. I do like that wood frame idea though since I don't have a permanent place to keep the cardboard one I have set up. That would be much sturdier to move and put away. I'm going to have to make one of those tomorrow now. Thanks for the idea.
  9. I'm similar to MoonShadow. I use a cardboard box with the ends cut open, poster board, and clip on lights. It's been working good for me. http://http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent The pics are a bit yellow, but using the "auto level" and "auto color" adjustments in Photoshop makes them look great.
  10. Paypal reversals are usually only allowed for items not received disputes. I have dealt with a few of those and had to provide a bunch of information in order to get them fixed. Anyway, if you have stuff to get rid of please let me know I may take some of it.
  11. Has anyone had trouble with a certain FO not holding solid for a bath bomb? All of the batches we have made are nice and hard with the exception of one FO which we have tried several batches. It just doesn't get hard... if you touch one to pick it up it will crumble. Any help would be great, otherwise this won't be a bomb. Thanks in advance.
  12. I've been working on a front and back label as well. So far all the bottles are fine with the exception of one. I'm using a boston round bottle for lotion and I've noticed that the labels pull away from the bottle when you squeeze it a bit. Any ideas on fixing that?
  13. Ok, maybe I can shed a little light for you. I used to work at a local water bottler and we had a contract for Wal-Mart and Target (both of whom have distilled and "purified" water). They are both identical and are both distilled. Where you run into the difference is with spring, artesian, crystal clear drinking, and infant. Those are not distilled. Hope that helps you.
  14. Yeah, I called there last week to order some jars and got a call back saying the owner had an accident and wasn't going to be shipping any jars until later this year.
  15. I am stuck trying to decide between using clear inkjet labels or inkjet rub-on decal paper (which leaves the printing on the bottle without a label - available here http://www.papilio.com/inkjet_rub_on.htm). Has anyone used the inkjet rub-on decals or any rub-on stickers for labeling on plastic bottles before that may have some input on them? I was thinking that they would look nice but I'm having a hard time picking which way to go. Thanks in advance.
  16. Those are impressive. I love the colors and the pattern is great.
  17. Thought I would share this. I had an order to place through Candlewic this week and decided to wait and see what their new specials were. I'm glad I waited. Ended up getting a free $18 bottle of FO for having an order over $60. :yay:
  18. I am using ZenCart. It is similar to oscommerce. I find it easy to use and haven't had any problems with it at all. The few questions I do have are answered within minutes on their forum. Best of all it's free, works with paypal and many other payment options and has many choices for shipping options, and you can easily change products, make sales to start and end on set dates, etc.
  19. This will get you there. http://watersgulch.com/howtocp.shtml
  20. Yeah, just recently went from the shapes to the clamshells. I like them much better, although the shapes are nice as well. I guess I'll just buy a set of the heart or various ice trays every once in a while for holidays and stuff.
  21. You'll find that those silicone ice cube tray molds will leave light colored spots and slight imperfections. The ones I've been using are almost done for, they are starting to loose their shape a bit. At least they are cheap.
  22. Cool, thanks. That's what I was thinking as well. Do these seem like they are a bit hard to close or is that something you get used to.
  23. I just got some of these today and have more on the way. I do really like them, but I have a question before I try them out. How high do you fill your melt clamshells? Do you go just to the top of the cavities or to the top of the clamshell container? Thanks in advance.
  24. Hmm... I may have to try that. Any tips on temp and time?
