  1. Same here and the Red Banana is wonderful.
  2. An exploding votive huh? Sounds like someone is full of sh--. I have to assume that you did your own testing before handing them out to other testers so you know how well they burn etc. and I bet none of them exploded on you ( I have NEVER heard of of a freaking votive exploding!! ) Could these co-workers be jealous? Also keep in mind that some people just plain can't stand to see someone do well. Keep your head up and continue to make your products. Ask the idiot to please explain what happened with the votive so that you can contact the supplier that sold you the ingredients to make sure the wicks weren't firecrackers in disguise. I'm sure she will sound like the moron that she is. Call one of your friends that you trust and work with that can help spread the word as to what a joke it is,( because it is!!) If you are pleased with how your candles burn then pass out a few freebies to peeps that will spread the word as to how good they are and include a sheet on how to properly burn candles. ( I put one in each and every basket I sell) I have always used family and friends for testers and the only problem I have had is with my sis. She had a blow out on a pillar and when I asked how long it had burned she said " well I lit it this morning around 8:00 am and it just happened ( at 9:30 PM !!) talk about a power burn:shocked2: Sorry this is long but I'm pissed off for you:mad:
  3. OH yeah:yay: I don't even drink but it sounds like it might get them in a buying kinda mood.
  4. I have noticed that if you add a small amount of EO/FO and can still smell the shea then leave it for a few days and then go back and take a sniff, usually the shea odor will be gone. Seems to take a while to incorporate the EO/FO. I also concur on the Agbange Karite shea, it's the best and all unrefined shea is NOT created equal. I have had some from various suppliers that was too foul to use in a butter.
  5. I really couldn't tell too much difference between Candlewics and Glorybees palm waxes.
  6. I googled it and came up with a few hits. www.glorybeefoods.com They are a bit more expensive but they are on the west coast.
  7. Hey, that sounds like some good stuff!! Yeah Trish, that one line alone would make it a big seller:grin2: Candlescents, the water here really is gross. We have surface water that smells like iron and makes your clothes a rust color and then we have deeper water that is sulphur and smells like rotten eggs and makes clothes and bathroom walls coated with a black film and then there are the rivers that smells like someone let a big stinky ( from the rotting vegetation and seaweed) and the "city" water smells like bleach from all the chemicals they have to add. You have to go to the middle of the state to get good natural spring water that flows up out of the ground and is ICE COLD but people swim in it so you wouldn't want to drink it:shocked2: Now I'm going to have to try that fo just to see if it makes people shut up.
  8. I have one at home I'll send you. I can't remember where I got it from but it's a great lotion.
  9. I have a 1oz sample of the French Vanilla Amber, it smells very nice but I want to try it in a lotion. I have no idea how it smells in wax. Yes the Spruce Christmas Tree smells like a tree but I haven't put it in wax either.
  10. Sorry I have never heard of it but when I saw the name of the thread all I could think of was how bad the water is here:confused: so the fo would have to be faking it:cool2: to smell good.
  11. I have to agree, thiis is an awesome vanilla.
  12. You can get some really great baskets at your local thrift stores for really cheap.
  13. The easiest way I found to cut the 4627 is just to use a sharp knife and cut through the plastic and all ( the colder the wax, the easier to cut ) But no matter how you do it you'll probably end up with that vaseline feeling wax all over the place. ( at least I do:D )
  14. What size container and wick are you using? Although if it burned straight down then I have to agree with everyone about the air caverns but it is possible to get a nice burn with this wax.
  15. I use a large sheet of floral styrofoam, place the mold at the angle I want, and gently push down. Make sure you push it far enough down so that it holds okay once you fill it with wax. Sometimes I warm the bottom of the mold first with the heat gun to make it easier. I have sheets for all the different shape molds I have so when I want to do layers I can do a lot at one time. It holds up great even with pouring wax at 200 and easy to store.
  16. Here is a combo that for some reason my sis loves in her shea. Equal parts lavender, lemon or orange and peppermint with just a hint of tea tree oil. I make this as a foot balm for her and would NOT recommend it for the face because of the peppermint and citrus. I have noticed that with eo's it doesn't take nearly as much scent to mask that yuk smell of shea so start out light and you would be surprized at the combos that actually smell good.
  17. I had a new case of 4786 and when I started chopping up a slab out poured the water. Shocked me. By the time I was on the last slab I didn't notice anymore water.
  18. How true How true!! I have this huge sign over my presto pots reminding me to close them!! But still, even after having left them open and wondering gee, sounds like water running somewhere, I still love my spigots and would never go back to not having them.
  19. Can you tell that we can't wait to see it cut? Looks Beautiful.
  20. As long as I use a snug tight fitting votive holder I can usually get away with an LX-12 for most all fo's. ( I mix 50/50 the palm 2 & 3 from Candlewic so there may be some differences in the wax) At first it looks like a small pillar burning but it will catch up and completely melt.
  21. There was just a co-op on this. Maybe someone will have some extra 4 count votive boxes to sell you.
  22. If I put the proper labels with all the needed info and added "free gift not for sale" if it would be legal to include them in the candle baskets I sell? I do share my soaps, lotions, etc. with family and friends but when they ask me if they can buy some I have to go through the whole spiel about cost of license, separate building etc. and that it's not legal for me to sell them anything but my candle type products. I have read and read and can't find anything that covers the legality of making the B&B free gifts. I really can't afford a lawyer so Does anyone out there know???
