  1. Welcome to the addictive world of CandleTech! Thanks for your input, I didn't know that WSP sold them.
  2. I'm sure you figured it out by now, but what I do is add burgundy liquid with a little purple. In my mind, cranberry isn't as red.
  3. Melts of course, carpet fresh and reed diffusers! Oh, and the ornies have been huge!!!!!
  4. I use several of their oils, I'm dissapointed to hear about the pink sugar, I love that one! I recently had the same problem with the lilac. It came in a different color and didn't smell as true as the other one. Bummed me out. I think once I am done with that one, I'm going to try Berts! The other oils I get from there I love, especially the Pineapple upside down cake, YUM!
  5. Those look great! I've been wondering about buying the jars from the dollar store, you can order larger amounts and they will ship to the store for free. That would save a bunch on shipping. Does anyone else do this?
  6. Hi Jesse, I have been playing with this wax for tarts and have had great results with it. I may even try dixie cup votives with it. good luck.
  7. What are the warnings that you put on you electric candles. I made a few for a craft show but can't find a guideline for warnings anywhere. Thanks for any info you can share. Erin
  8. Pour your candle without a wick. When it is set up, poke a hole and insert a wick, use your heat gun to melt the top wax around the wick and let set up. Test burn. If you don't have the right wick, pull that wick out, and start over. After you get the right wick, pour a candle with wick attached and burn the entire candle. Hope that helps. Good luck.
  9. For the clamshells, I have a folding corner shelf from Dollar General that I attached peg board to the back and painted black. Works like a charm and I don't have to lug my spinning rack.
  10. I think you would be better off to melt the candles in your oven on low heat and then re-pour. That has worked for me in the past very well. Scooping out the wax seems like alot of work and the finished product won't be as good. Good luck!
  11. Thanks for all of the kind words. HeavenScentU, I'm not sure what you are looking at that looks like pumpkins, but on the lit up table it was the lighted wine bottles and the lighted glass blocks.
  12. I was "shopping" for wax and found ECO 16 wicks here: http://candlescience.com/wick/eco-16/ Just thought I'd share.
  13. Great display, good job. It's nice you have someone to do them with, probably does make it more fun!
  14. I have stuck to just a couple scents, a vanilla, a cinnamon or apple, & Christmas splendor. Works for me.
  15. Ketsup & Mustard, LOL!!!! :laugh2: No, it's plastic jars of smelly jellies. That was good though.
  16. Here is my table at the show on Saturday. If you look in the background you can see another candle maker selling JJ candles (behind the roses), nice, huh? I can't complain, I made out ok, not big bucks but worth it! The biggest sellers were the ornies! Go figure. Thanks for looking.
  17. Hi Stella, I agree with the lavander vanilla. Have you ever thought of lavander and lemon? I have a friend that wanted me to blend those two for a reed diffuser and WOW it smells great! I never would have guessed that it would smell so good. I don't care for lavander by itself but with the lemon, OMG it is good! Give it a try. Oh, by the way, your candles look great!
  18. So, the ones from McDonalds, do they have the #5 on them. I have bought some from GFS that cracked horribly. Just wondering.
  19. The two shows I have done so far, there was a couple selling these candles & melts at both shows: http://www.obiwholesale.com/catalogsample/tc53003-p-4244.html $6.00 http://www.obiwholesale.com/catalogsample/tc54008-p-7417.html $3.00 http://www.obiwholesale.com/catalogsample/tc5604039-p-9391.html $1-2 I think It is hard to compete with those prices and a hand made candle. Luckily I only brought my larger size candles and not the smaller ones. The first time I met them, I asked them if they go to OBI and of course they said yes. I wished them good luck after a little further discussion and went back to my booth. What do you do?
  20. Would it be possible to use liquid dye as paints? Just a thought, I've never tried these yet.
  21. Brown is hard to come up with, thanks for sharing. I'll have to give that a try.
  22. That's very interesting, thanks for sharing. Do you think that when using a presto that any leftover wax in it when you turn it off and then on again after the wax hardens is being tempered? (hope that made sense) I have often wondered that. I have noticed that my wax is more behaved after I started using the presto than the double boiler.
