Jill - your post reminded me - I forgot to put the lids in my smelly jellies just shipped this am. By lids I mean the lids that come with the jars for canning - at a lost to say what I'am trying to think of. Anywhoo I put the solid lid on and then the perfed lid and include the plastic disc in a zip lock bag and tell them what to do with an email. I also shrink wrap mine to be sure there is no leaking. hope this makes sense:D

Those are beautiful Jakalex - you know, I'am beginning to think:wink2: that maybe the hex jars or some kinda jar not smooth or straight might make the prettier candles. What do others think?

The UV Inhibitor I use says to use 1/8 tsp pp. I am not that accurate with measuring this though.

I heated to 190, added fo, stirred good - not long though - and then poured. You might want to be careful adding more fo. Don't know but it might make for a bad burn - smoking - and the oil might leak out. 1 oz is working great for me though in all I have tried.

Sorry Snow - My all throw great. Peach has never been a strong scent to me - maybe try something a little stronger.:undecided

Used 1 oz pp and the throw is great. The cranberry marmalade from cs is fantastic, I love it, that is container jar. Pillow is moon lake musk which I also love and the throw is fine on it. Maybe you have candlenose:D I have it real often. Usually the best way for me to smell is to leave room for a while and then go back in.hth

Carrie - think you should have ordered the 11's. I just updated my burn thread and for a power burner - like me - 12 is to big. I am going with 11's and explain to burn for at least 3 hr or it will tunnel. Better safe than sorry :smiley2:

Just update on 3" palm pillar - I will definitely go with an 11 wick. If you power burn it will get to close to the outside and leak. I guess you just have to tell people to be sure and burn for at least 3 hr or otherwise it will tunnel. If they burn for more than that at a time they should/will be fine.

K1105F - Opportunity Buy Apothecary Jar w/Flat Lid - H=3 1/8 in D=3 1/8 in. - Pressed Size: 5 oz. This looks like the jar to me - they are the same in H & D. Never seen anything like this at a grocery store though.

Yes, I know what you mean. I really love it too. My pillar burns real good with the 12 but if you power burn like I do most of the time, it will get to close to the edge. I am going to see what the 11 does when it come - hopefully by Tuesday. Thanks

If you find out Kelly I sure wanna know. I email them a year or so ago about them because I really like them - the way they seem staight up with a flat lid maybe. I think they said they were special made or something - didn't say I could buy them though.

Well - they seem to burn fine if you burn like the 3 hrs or so using the 12 wick. But I am a power burner and it seems if they burn longer the wick burns to hot and the melted wax is to close to the edge. There is just a very thin layer where the melted wax is and if you touch it will easily "break" I am thinking that maybe need to use the 11 - which I ordered last night. Will probably leave a larger shell but at least it won't get the melted wax to close to edge. Jakalex said she started with 14 but was going to try the 12. Don't know how she came out with it. Maybe she will read this and respond. Could post pictures but it just gets confusing with all the pictures! .

I was looking at Restockit.com and they had what could possibly be boxes for reed diffuser kits but their handling fee - don't understand that. Did you actually have to pay a fee like that?

Very pretty candlelady - I have some molds for the 3 wick pillars but only made 2 in paraffin. They are sorta hard to wick to me though.

For both my pillar and jar candles I heated wax in my version of double boiler which is actually an old presto pressure cooker with a steamer basket inside it - heated to 190 add color - well actually I added the color about 185 and at 190 added fo, stirred good and poured into unheated jars and mold. Cooled on a dish drain turned upside down so there was a good 6" or so for air to flow under it. No relief holes in container - not necessary - no repour either. On the pillar I did do relief holes and then I just filled them in good with little wax left over that I scraped like into a powder and filled up holes. No repour on this either. Both turned out fine and burning great. I only heated 1 lb at a time since I was experimenting! When I do larger batches I will use presto. hth Inless something changes my mind this is the easiest wax to work with, no wet spots, no little pin holes on pillars. Just perfect wax so far. Would love to just go with palm, though I think it will make finished product a little more costly. I read where I think it was Jakalex that said it seemed all fo work good with this palm. - If you didn't say something to that effect Jakalex forgive me. Have read so much hear lately get confused who said what

I had no problem - I did spray mine with a little release spray just in case it was needed. It slipped right out.

Jami - I did not heat my jars or mold. They were all at room temp which was pretty warm. I never heat jars, too much trouble.

Beautiful pillar and jar. Think I want to get some of the star also, got feather when I ordered. Tell me - What is your picture taking secret, or either how you edit them. Beautiful pictures also.

candlelady - would love to see picture of the 3 wick candles. What size and what wicks did you use?
