  1. don't know about clogged drain - I just did 1 lb in pour pitcher. My drain with bottom removed and turned upside down left probably 6" or so for air to flow around. I heated wax to 190 added fo and poured like Jakalex did. Have they cooled long enough? Other than that - don't know.
  2. isbennis - look real close and see if there is liquid - melted wax under crust. Mine burned like that for couple hours and after looking it was melted under thin crust - it finally caught up though after 3-4 hours. This was in a 10oz tumbler
  3. Beautiful Marisa - I found the same to be true about the bottom in my tumbler - it has a thick bottom. I cooled mine on a dish drain turned upside down so the air flow should have been good around them. The ones I made in 10oz apoth crystalized all the way to bottom though. What size wick did you use in your pillar. I used a 12 in mine but it got real thin on one side after about 4 hrs burn, but it might be that where I was burning it was a little unlevel. It was on one of those things above the sink and it was pretty well loaded with stuff so I think it sways to inside. Will burn elsewhere when I light it again. Will post pictures after it has burned more
  4. Hey Candlebuddy - I didn't know that either. I haven't been in a BBW in probably 2 years. I make all that "junk" now so why buy! Thanks for info on the different cherry blossoms! If I find the Japanese one will post where.
  5. Flight of Fancy my tumbler has been burning for about 3-4 hours and the crust has disappeared, good melt pool and burning real clean on sides. Edited- I think if we go with the wick size candlescience says we probably won't go wrong, especially on their fo since they have tested those. jmt
  6. Looking for good dupe of the BBW japanese cherry blossom
  7. My tumbler - 10 oz though I wonder is much actual difference in 10 or 11 oz - seems to be burning fine. In honeysuckle jasmine with a 14. If I look close it seems like there is a small crust on top but under crust is melted wax. It has been burning for probably approx 2 hr. I am still thinking I should order the 11's if I am going to double wick the apoth. Seems like customers like the 2 wicks and I sorta do because you don't have to have as large a flame when you use 2 versus the 1, even though it is more trouble.
  8. OK some results - sorry no pictures. My 5 oz apoth I wicked with a 12 and made in cranberry marmalade with 1 oz fo - Burned great, not even a smidgen of soot on jar! I am now burning my 10 apoth that I double wicked with 12's - You might could single wick with a 14. The flame is a little larger than I like. If you double wick the 11 might be fine. My 10 oz tumbler I wicked with 14 seems to be burning fine - made in honeysuckle jasmine. My pillar I wicked with 12 and made in moon lake musk smell so good unlit and looks so pretty just can't burn it yet. Will soon though - actually waiting for a room to burn in - I have 2 extra bedrooms but don't usually test in those. Just great room which is kitchen, dining, and living rooms combined. My bedroom which is now home of honeysuckle jasmine and bathrooms for smaller sizes. BYW - my 10oz tumbler has a thick base and the crystalizing did not start until about a 1/2" of so from the bottom. Everything else starts at bottom. All cooled on high rack. Made 1 votive in moon lake musk and used the 9 csn and it burned great with that wick
  9. According to candlescience web site and info they say their palm was special made so not to destroy the rainforest or something similar. That is probably why it might cost a little more - but I will say from my testing candlescience palm - that is the only palm I will buy. Wonderful test results with only 1 oz per lb and I am used to using on the normal 1.25 oz pp. with paraffin. It is mighty temping to go palm all the way.
  10. Just a thought - is your pillar wax just straight wax with no additives. I play around with adding additives to my pariffin wax which is IGI 4786 for containers but my pillar wax igi 4625 I don't play with much except to add steric if I do rustics. Like I said - just a thought:)
  11. My gosh - have you checked out the new scents at candles and supplies. Over 300. I know they have got some bad pr in past but the times I have ordered from them I have not had a problem and the fo's have been good. Going to try the eucalyptus and probably more - my addition kicked in:D
  12. Thanks Debscent - I will try some of it.
  13. Those are very pretty and I love raspberry - it mixes good with patchouli also. The 2" pillars are very elegant but I am scared of em!!!!
  14. Well - I said I was in search of the real eucalyptus and so I ordered some from ICS - I' m still waiting not good. THe pink sugar, cranberry chutney, and creme brulee smell real good oob, hope they will in wax. If I can escape this "funk" I am in today I will try to pour some tomorrow.
  15. Robin - I'll hijack your thread for a minute and tell Wick n Wax that Cierra has a wonderful lavender and chamomille(spelled wrong?) maybe she will check back. But this week-end all I want to do is make palm wax up in pillars and containers. Lovin this palm:yay:
  16. No - I am not adding any additives to this wax. Just color and fo. btw I have a 5oz apoth burning (in what we call the great room so it's a pretty large room) in the cranberry marmalade and I had to leave for about an hour and when I came back and opened the door it smelled wonderful. NO! I didn't leave it burning alone, Pepper was there!! and also DH:D
  17. Palm Wax and the Environment When we first started working with palm wax a few years ago we were really impressed. It's grown on trees and picked rather that sown in a field and harvested, requiring much less energy and labor. And the palm kernel has one of the highest oil contents of any plant, so a lot of wax can be grown in a small amount of space. Its exceptional sustainability combined with clean burn, great scent throw, low price, non-GM, and beautiful appearance got us really, really excited about palm. Unfortunately we soon read reports of vast areas of rainforest being clear-cut to build palm plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia. Southeast Asia is home to some of the most bio-diverse ecosystems in the world. losing these forests destroys the livelihood of native people and compromises the already sensitive orangutan, rhinoceros, and Sumatran tiger populations. The health of the natural environment is of the upmost concern to us at CandleScience, and no matter how great the product, this wasn't acceptable to us, and we knew it wasn't acceptable to our customers either. So we took on the job of finding sustainable palm wax, and we are happy to announce we were successful. After many many months of research, phone calls, meetings, and a trip all the way to Jakarta, we have partnered with a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. This organization was founded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and heads of government and industry involved in palm cultivation. The RSPO was founded to develop and define best practices for sustainable palm cultivation, and then help member organizations to implement and verify the procedures. We are very proud to offer this product to our customers as a sustainable, non-genetically modified alternative to other waxes. If you are buying palm elsewhere, please contact your supplier and confirm that the wax you are using is not contributing to deforestation of these important habitats. The above is what candlescience said about their wax. hth
  18. This is my first time with palm wax and loving it btw, From the info on candlescience web site this is their specially made palm. When it comes to palm wax I am a newbie!
  19. NO WET SPOTS!!!!!:bliss:I don't know that you can get this paticular kind anywhere else. If I undersood the info they gave on this it sounded like this is their specially made wax. Maybe someone that knows more about palm can answer this. I am just a newbie at this but loving every minute of making this palm wax.
  20. If you got it from candlescience I used only 1 oz - that is what they recommended for both the container and pillar wax. hth
  21. Kristi I double wicked my 10 oz with 2 12's. I did single wick a 5 oz apoth with 1 12 and it is burning now, made in cranberry marmalade which smells very good . It seems to be burning good right now after about 45 minutes. Will burn the 10oz later today or tomorrow and see how it does. hth
  22. Jami & Snow I just love it. Snow I decided to try the 12 in my pillar - 3". Jakalex said she used the 14 but on next she was going to try the 12 for power burners and that is me I did get some pictures posted, not the greatest, couldn't get rid of glare and just really didn't have best background and then wasn't sure how to use photo bucket. But in person I think they are beautiful. I am definitely hooked on this palm. Will test burn little later - Got to show them off at a couple places first:wink2:
  23. I wouldn't call them a wickless tart because a tart is wickless anyway as far as I know. Probably should change name from tart also because of yankmee. I call mine melts, or melties. Just check threads and you will see what different names they are called. They look sorta like muffins so call them muffie melts:D
  24. Kristi - Your asking about wicking the apoth jar. Just made this wax in 10oz apoth jar but I decided to double wick with 2 of the csh or whatever the wick is that candlescience has for this wax. Afraid to try just 1. Will post how it burns. I did single wick a 10oz tumbler though with a 14.
