  2. Hi, Each year I layer my Christmas Splendor Red and Green. I used a deep burgandy last time I poured twigs and berries but think this time I will go with a deeper red for twigs and berries. I can't offer much help on Mistletoe - I am still waiting to pour it-but the blue sounds kind of nice. Post some pictures once you decide - we would love to see them! HTH!
  3. I use wick stickers that come 25 on a sheet from wixnwax.com, I have used the kind that comes on the roll from other places but as soon as I pour my wax in my jars all my wicks float to the top. I will never try them again!!! HTH Kimmi
  4. I have been making candles for several years now and I am very paranoid about making sure I do everything correctly to protect myself and my customers. (I still feel I have plenty to learn about the business.) With that said... today I was checking out a new craft show and trying to decide if it might be profitable for us to consider having a booth next year. I visited a very large candle maker's booth - according to their information they have been in business for many years. None of their candles had any caution labels and none of their candles listed how many ounces each candle contained. This was not just one candle - I was smelling several of their scents and I even purchased one to determine the quality. Is this a common practice? I was under the impression that by law you must list the ounces in each candle. Did I dream this? Any insight you could give would be great! Thanks in advance. Kimmi
  5. Have you tried to use FO? I have used just a little FO on my counters when I get dye on them. Put a little on a paper towel and rub. HTH! Kimmi:D
  6. I absolutely love BCN!!! I do not use their wax but I love their fragrances and other products! I have always received excellent customer service and great tech support!!! Give them a chance...you will not be disappointed! Kimmi
  7. Hi, My husband asked me to order a different glass jar for some gifts he would like to make for his employees. I ordered the - 8oz Flat Lid Apothecary Jar w/Lid the measurements are 3 & 1/4" Dia. x 2 &1/2" High w/o Lid (from BCN). I just got them in and we are set to start making them tomorrow. This was a last minute change from my regular jars and I didn't plan well enough to make sure the diameter is the same. I use a parrafin/soy blend wax from WNW - WNW130. Sorry for the short notice...any help would really be appreciated. Thank you, Kimmi:D
  8. Thank you everyone!!! I will let you know what works!!! Kimmi
  9. Hello! Does anyone know how to get a few drops or smudges of liquid color out of clothing...I was pouring some sample scents the other day and didn't take the time to put on my apron!!!! Just so happens to be one of my favorite pairs of pants!! And wouldn't you know they are khaki!! Any help you could lend would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!! Kimmi
  10. Thank you all for all of your help. Now I have some place to start. Turns out we will be making a trip near my wax distributor so I will get to save all that shipping!!!!! Thanks again for your input...I can't wait to try them. Kimmi

  12. We are wanting to try our hand at making some wax dipped pinecones for gifts this Christmas. But before I can get started I need to determine how much wax I will need. I would like to use the Cargill C3 soy wax. Can anyone help me determine how to calculate how much wax I will need? Thank you. Kimmi
  13. I too have used Lonestar dyes and have been pleased. I also use a lot of their products with 100% satisfaction so please don't take this the wrong way... However, i recently purchased a red liquid dye from Lonestar and the color is not a christmas red...more of a pink...i added black to it and it didn't help...i did post a question on this board regarding making the red darker or more of a cinnamon red and I was given the hint of putting a little bit of liquid brown dye in with the red to make it a deeper red. My advise would be to tell the representative you speak with that you are looking for a Christmas red and get their input...their reps know their products very well. I wish I would have done this instead of just ordering the red. HTH:cheesy2: Kimmi
  14. I am pouring Christmas splendor and bird of paradise! Hope you all have a great weekend!!! Kimmi

  17. Do you sell them in groups or just individually? Kimmi
  18. Hello Everyone, I make paraffin/soy container candles and have for sometime now. My problem is my husband needs a nice gift for 60+ employees. He would like to give them a candle. Because of the number of employees I need the cost to be as low as possible, so a regular sized candle is not a feasible option. I have made some of the 4-5 ounce glass flower pot candles with the plastic lids but they are not my favorite. The plastic lids really turn me off. Where would you suggest I start...maybe a candle in a coffee mug? I am open to any ideas. Thank you in advance. Kimmi:D
  19. Great to hear of your success! I am certain your house smells great! Enjoy your candlelit evening!!! Kimmi
  20. Black...agree with a previous post...I used different colors depending on the individual candle...but black looks better and is easier to read Kimmi

  22. Tess, I just wanted to let you know I poured candy cane on Friday morning and a friend stopped by to help and learn a little of what candle pouring is about. Well, she had a party last night at her house and we decided to test burn one of the candy cane candles (although we didn't give it enough time to cure). THe candle is AWESOME!!! Everyone that went in there commented on it! She said she could still smell the candle today at noon! Definately a keeper scent...I forgot just how much I love it! HTH Kimmi
  23. Hi, I am making cinnamon sticks, pomegranate, cranberry relish and candy cane! Hopefully I will get to pouring paradise and sunwashed linen! HTH! Kimmi
  24. Hi everyone...I just poured Cinnamon sticks and I am not happy with the color. I used a combination wax 70% parrafin, 30% soy... I did everything the same as I have before except I used a new liquid color...brand new bottle! I used black to darken it up. I test poured in a small amount and the color looked like a lighter red ( I thought I could live with a light red). I was afraid to put too much color in for fear of clogging the wicks. Well, I poured and now it is a red-ish mauve...I have orders for some that I need to deliver as soon as they cure!! I thought about just giving them a small price cut on the candle...I don't want the candles to go to waste...they smell soooooo good. Any ideas would help. Thanks in advance. Kimmi
