  1. Not sure what could have made that happened. Sound like to wax was left too long on the heat. Sometimes if the wax is over heated, it can sound burned or just have no smell at all. I'm not sure if this is what happened to you but I sell layers all the time and they all smell great. Well, that's what they say. Good luck.
  2. I know what you mean about testing. It's not a easy job to do. I hate this happened to you right at the holidays. I posted some pictures in another thread with one picture of my layer candles. My bestsellers are my layers whether it's two, three, four, or five layer candles. I'm not sure if you seem my pictures or not but you can get an idea of how this wax works with layers. I use "Joy Wax". Good luck. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37833
  3. Yes they're really straws but the straws can easy come off. I just have them there for show. The straws are on top of the wicks. I fooled my husband too. He thought I had us drinks ready after he got off work. He didn't know they were candles. But it's safe.
  4. Oh man, coke floats sounds good. Make sure you keep us posted when you're finished. Can't wait to see them.
  5. Just wanted to share my first experience with you guys. This is my first time make these. Hope you like them. They were still curing here. Without the straws With the straws I make layers close to all the time but I wanted to add this one too. Too of many candles for my Christmas candle party.
  6. For every wick I have tried, I've have had a slight mushroom thing going on. But in the zincs, I've have had less problems with this. It's actually not even a problem because the mushrooming isn't bad at all. With some of the other wicks mainly CD's I've had to worry about soot. So I thought I would take a slight mushroom over soot anyday.:undecided Now it also depends on your jars and your FO. Some FO's are heavy and some are light. So try and keep that in mind too. Good luck.
  7. For me, wicking wasn't too bad. Once I decided to stick with one series, I had no problems at all. Now you still have to test with any wax you use and I'm sure you know that. But I too have heard of so many people having problem with wicks. And it depends on your jars. I starting out using CD wicks but they didn't work too good for me. So now I use zinc and in all of my test they work great. Some I may need to wick up or down but for the most part, I'm normally right on. Hope this help.
  8. I pour once and my containers candles are GREAT. I'm always concern about that because that's all I make are containers candles most of the time and I don't have alot of time for wetspots.:undecided This wax work great for me.
  9. I use NG's Joy Wax and wouldn't have it another way. I love this wax. I have used other waxes when I first started making candles but have yet to find any that's better then Joy. Less wetspots and lots of throw. I just poured Gingerbread from NG using Joy and can't wait to test it. My whole house to selling like a big cookie.
  10. Dollar store here I come!:tiptoe: Well...................maybe not now since it's 10:00pm. But first thing in the morning for sure. So cute. I love them.
  11. I think your layers look great first time or not. Keep up the good work. That's the best thing about "playing around". You get to learn and play.
