1. Ok, thanks....what if i dont use F.O...do I still have to wipe with alcohol? :undecided
2. Ok, Thanks..I sprayed 3 times before, but haven't sprayed after.
3. Ok, i have done many many searches on here, but water slide decals & palm pillars kept saying no match found, when I know i have read it on here somewhere... Has anyone had problems with the water slide decals peeling off? I made my first one for my mom for mothers day, but i'm scared its going to peel off. Looks ok now, but will the roughness of the mailman mess it up? How "stay put" are they? Kay
4. If you get a plug which has a little metal pin in it that you stick through the wick hole which in turn keeps it centered. Thats the trick..lol
5. I've spent so much money, I dont know if I could ever make a profit..lol Proabably enough to buy more supplies..
6. http://www.waterslide-decals.com/candle_decals.html try that!!!!!!!
7. I had no problem either & I didn't use anything. Now, I had problems with Nu Scents palm wax releasing, even with release powder. Make sure you received pillar wax & not container wax. That has happened to me before. Also i have learned that is you try & take it out of the mold when the mold is still warm to the touch..it slides out easier...try that. Be careful not to pull the wick out. I use plugs & glass tea light holder so i have to stand there & shake my candles out, but they usually slide right out after a few shakes.
8. You know its funny...I was at a friends house & she had bought a candle from Wal-Mart. It was burning so badly! Kinda like what I just saw on this post. My friend said she loves that candle & will be getting more. I told her I would be back & came back with one of my testers (hoping it was a good one) I started burning it came back acouple hours later to see it & she was amazed. She had no clue...I told her thats how a candle is SUPPOSE to burn. Now she wants me to make all her candles...FYI..I dont sell to the public yet, so kinda scared, but most of my candles that I make are forever candles anyways, but I do make my own tealights & votives for them. Kinda made my head swell alittle (someone actually loved my candles)
9. These have the glass tea light cup embedded. My next attempt will be to try them with votives. Thanks for looking! Let me know how the votives turn out..i want to try them too.
10. Are those waterslide decals or embedded pics? I'm going to try some waterslide decals tomorrow....wish me luck
11. I'm so sorry!!! This has happened to me before too. A couple times. You just get going to fast & forget. I have gotten to where i sit there & watch the mold for about 5 minutes to see if its gonna leak. I have learned though if you place a paper towel under & around the bottom of the mold if a leak starts, It soaks up some wax & cools sealing your leak. You waste alittle wax, but beats having to re pour your mold again...This is if you catch it in time..lol Just get up & brush it off..lol
12. Here's the link to purchase the plugs... http://www.creativegemsmolds.com/store/index.php?cat_id=7&PHPSESSID=7e5488126e9b3af73adf06006e7cbc28 I can take pics of how I do it if needed..step by step ????
13. Here are some I've made..easier then wicking. Purchase a plug insert & insert in the bottom of a metal mold (where wick would go) place a glass tea light over the plug & pour your wax. Its that wasy. Heat your molds as normal & pour between 190 & 200.
14. I just saw that wax & was wondering how it looked. Thanks for showing! They look awesome!!
15. Thanks, I have gotten so many tips off here too, so sharing what i have figured out would only be fair....
16. http://www.candle4less.com/12-Clear-Glass-Tea-Light-Candle-Holders.pr.1671.htm I found this site with a pretty ok price. I ordered mine from www.cudge.com, but for some reason their site isn't coming up. I paid $27.00 for a 72 count of tea light cups. Here its $35.00 for 72 count. NEVER MIND! I was looking at the wrong site...its .net, not .com..Here it is.. http://www.cudge.net/tea_light_holders.html
17. I tried just using the plugs without the glass tea light...I had a hard time getting the plugs out of my concaved candle once they were done (without cracking my pillar) Plus I didn't like how small the hole was for the tea light, it was getting to hot for the palm....it was cracking my pillars around the tea light. Getting the tea lights out after you burn one, was very tricky! I just decided to place a glass tea light cup in on top of the plug & see what happens. Sure enough its the right size & the glass tea light is already in your candle when you take it out of the mold. Perfect...But if you make a larger plug (deeper) let me know. I would love to try like a votive size plug.
18. I had this problem a couple weeks ago. (Candles wouldn't come out of the mold). Come to find out I got a bad batch of palm wax..I had added release powder & all & had to end up melting the wax almost completely in the oven to get them to come out. I add 2 tbsp of release powder now to about 2 lbs of palm & they "Usually" slide right out..but I have to turn the mold over when the molds are still warm to the touch. If I wait to long they don't come out. Its a timing thing....lol Every once in awhilke I have trouble, but I just stand in the middle of my kitchen shaking this mold like i'm making a mixed drink in a shaker...:laugh2:Looking really weird! I've almost dropped acouple.
19. sorry i'm just now getting back to replying..busy gal here..moving in 2 months & there is alot of painting to be done...lol Yes that is a tea light in the center. Its called everlasting or some (including me) may call it forever candles. I purchased a plug from....creative gem molds http://www.creativegemsmolds.com/store/view_product.php?product=T-L3S6AW7 I place the plug in bottom of my metal mold, place a Glass tea light holder on top of that. Pour my wax & wait. The plug keeps it from leaking out of the wick hole most of the time. Sometimes I get little leak, but nothing major. Sometimes i use a hot glue gun & just put a dab of glue over the hole from the outside. That usually works. When the candle comes out just take out the plug & your glass tea light is embedded into your candle ready for a tea light to be inserted. I got this trick off of here...acouple ppl have told me about this invention. Good luck.
20. i'm on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!! I have popped out 5 in 2 days...i think they are turning out pretty good. Tell me what you think. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r50/AngieB_photo/Picture058.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r50/AngieB_photo/Picture056.jpg
21. Hi & welcome to Soy..lol..i am just starting with the ecosoya 135 too. I think the ecosoya adv. is the one that says if you want to give up alittle F.O. to have a better looking candle (no frosting) go with adv. My Ecosoya 135 frosted on me yesterday, but smelled great! i have learned just by doing acouple candles dye & dyeless yesterday, I think i like the dyeles better..so dont have to worry about ftosting. I like the smell of a candle more then the look. I think the ivory color anyways. Ecosoya Adv does resist frosting, but you do loose your Scent throw..So I hear! I have not tried it yet. HTH..& Good luck!
22. Thank you..i'm getting a bunch of LX series wicks to tst out..I'm not having good luck with HTP's......
23. I have just started testing containers. Here is what i am using.. wax - Ecosoya 135 wick - HTP 1212 (suggested by CandleScience) container - 11oz tureen 4 inch diameter across top dye - none Scent - mom's apple pie (.5oz) Now here is my problem.... It is mushrooming & flickering alot, large flame Great MP Is the wick to large..Candlescience also suggested Lx series also..i believe the LX 26 Can anyone help me?
24. 8 students were killed. mainly 11th graders...a couple 12th graders. Here's what happened...We had been getting warnings all day..i think about 3 starting at 10:30am. At 11 am it came across the tv saying schools were going to release at 1pm because there was a break in the weather from the radar. At about 12:45 the storms went from moving from 40 MPH to about 70 MPH. They decided to keep the kids in school til that last part came through. No one knew this as far as family. So everyone was waiting on their kids at bus stops & driving to the schools, etc. (like me). Some kids at the high school were driving home too. Or attempting to drive home. At 1:15 the winds went from 30 MPH to 100 MPH & the freight train came barling through. Fox news had a student on that survived the storm at the high school. He said they were being rushed into the halls which is where they do their drills. Windows in the classrooms were crashing & the ceiling was caving in...all of a sudden the walls around them came crashing down & on top of them. The 8 students that died were in Hallway 3 which sustained most of the damage. Some students were in their cars & were flipped around, but survived. 2 other ppl in Alabama were killed due to the storm as well. I think Fox news said 9 more in GA died from the storm. It was said to be An F-3 tornado. I'm glad we didn't buy the first house we looked at here when we moved here..its no where to be found now. We got real lucky! Thanks for all your prayers.Enterprise really needs it now.
