  1. hi lorrie!

VERY pretty soap. That blue color is gorgeous.

i just read the "what's in your pot?" thread and that scent combo on the blue and white one sounds delish. are they all EOs??

    ei

    Yes, they are all EO's

Scented it is a blend of Lavender, Patchouli and Cedarwood.

  2. Well today I made these

This is a blend of Lavender, Patchouli and Cedarwood. I love the way this smells. It definetly is my favorite.

tomorrow I am going to make Oatmeal, Milk and Honey soap and Pumpkin soaps. I also am working on a Sweet Cranberry soap but it will be the first time that I am making it so I am not sure how it will turn out.

  3. as Lorrie said you want to use dry herbs, because any water in the botanicals can spoil your oil.

I make lavender infused oil every year.. my process is pretty simple. I use grapeseed oil, simply because there are alot of products that are "leave on" that I think its nice in. I dont use it in soap... waste!!

So, I pick my lavender and hand it out to dry, it takes about a week, sometimes more depending on how dry it is outside. Dont dry it in direct sunlight. I use both lavender leaves, and the flowers. The stems dont have much to them but the leaves have plenty of scent in them. With mint I would just chop it into manageable size and use the whole plant.

I bring my oil to a warm temp, not hot.. we dont want to "cook" it, we just want it to be warm enough to help release some of those oils from the botanicals. I rub the lavender between my hands, then put it all in the pot with the oil. You could use a crock on low for this, too. I let it go for about 4 hours. Never let your oil overheat though, keep an eye on it... you dont want to FRY the botanicals, lol.

After about 4 hours I let it cool, pour them into heavy 1 gallon bottles, and then set them in a box, in a dry cool area of my house (for me this is the master closet, it sits by an AC duct and stays 60-70* all the time, even in the summer) I let it sit for two weeks. After two weeks, I strain (using cheesecloth, sometimes you have to strain multiple times) and let it sit again for a week. After the week, I send it off to sagescript to be tested. If I'm going to be using it in leave on products, I just want to be sure its not full of botchulism or something! haha.

I make 3-4 gallons every year... but I've only ever done lavender.

Thanks! I haven't done any infusing all I knew was dried was better because using fresh can cause mold. Thanks!

  4. I have gotten holds on payments that have come from people who have changed their addresses or emails. It can take up to 48 hours (I believe) for them to release the funds.

The first time I had it happen was when a good customer paid for their bill. It was about $800 worth of stuff. Paypal held the funds for 2 days. Then I found out that the customer changed their email and that is why they were holding the funds to make sure that it was a legitimate transaction.

And I never got an email about the hold. I found out when I logged into my account.

  5. I did start a new box (the same brand and scent) of dryer sheets, I stopped about a week ago, just to see if it made a difference. I thought that maybe they might have changed something in the formula or maybe it was just aggrevating the situation.

I was pretty good for about 2 days, didn't have to take benedryl or anything and the bumps weren't bugging me, but early this morning they kicked up again. I'm still trying to eliminate things, but I would think if it was the soaps, that every night I would be itching worse right after the bath from using them. I could break down and use Lever for a night, I guess. Yuck!

    Thanks guys.

Did you use the dryer sheets on your bedding? Try washing them and not using the dryer sheets. I know when I had a allergic reaction to laundry soap I didn't find out until it was like a month later. I went threw the whole house and rewashed everything that I could and it cleared up. My rash was worse in the morning because it was summer and it was hot and I didn't have AC and I would sweat at night.

I hope you find out what it causing it because it totally sucks when you have an itchy rash and can't figure out what is causing it.

  6. I use UPS and USPS priority flat rates whenever possible. Fed Ex isn't an option for me and DHL well... I won't use them to save my life. Because they tack on fees that they don't list when you are getting a price quote. I shipped a bunch of packages for a co-op a few years ago and the bill came in. It was $150 more than what was quoted to me. Needless to say I called them and refused to pay it because that is a lot of extra money that wasn't collected when the co-op cost was figured.

  7. They are gonna price themselves right out of business one day. 46 cents to send a letter?!!!:shocked2: Rediculous!!

Yup, this is why everyone uses email.

I don't actually get a lot of things shipped in via the post office but I ship out a ton of things via the post office because for a pack of wicks or a sample it still is cheaper to use flat rate boxes/envies to ship orders versus UPS.

  8. OK, does the same ring true for Monoi? I've got some that's about 2 years old now. It doesn't smell rank or look funny, and it has been stored at a constant temp--but I wanted to be sure before I put it into anything. Thanks in advance! :) ( & sorry for hijack!)

It has a self life of 1-2 years.
