  1. I am looking for a supplier for white lights...like those that you put on your christmas tree...but only a 20 light strand. A friend of mine is making these great looking wine bottles with the stained glass appearance of grape vines on the outside and she puts a strand of these lights in it and illuminates it. I thought someone out there may do something similar and could tell me where to find these lights wholesale. Thanks for any help!
  2. When my daughter was about 11-12 years old and in that age where EVERYTHING I did was stupid....I ordered a soy candle kit online and thought we could make Christmas gifts together...I also thought of course it would be a mom and daughter moment...I became quickly addicted even though we made really crappy candles. I devoted every hour I could into researching and then testing....testing and more testing. I can't even tell you how many hours went into testing. I am so darn particular that I spent rediculous amounts of time testing...but this has given me baselines to start testing with a new product or container. I started making the almost natural progression into making body products and this became an addiciton as well. I eventually started giving good candles to friends...then selling at work........I worked in a 12000 employee hospital as an RN. I had quite a good business just selling there and had alot of word of mouth business. Then....I chose to go to grad school to become a Nurse Pracitioner. In my third semester, I stopped making candles and lotions as I did not have time. A friend and I were walking in the hospital to go to lunch and about 4 people stopped me and asked when I was going to make candles again. She said..."You should open a candle shop!". Graduated from grad school, became a Family Nurse Practitioner....and opened a candle shop! Crazy I know. I work both jobs and love it!!! Business has been a challenge for sure. I am in the second year and May it will be three years. I cannot imagine my life without it but may be faced with the reality of closing if the economy does not improve. Did that answer all the questions? Alot of rambling!
  3. We sold everything we could make in the store! I am going in this morning to a very bare store. Reed diffusers, small candles, any body product and a candle gift box sold like crazy. I gave up yesterday and decided to stop trying to fill in the void. We have been very blessed this year in a crappy economy.
  4. Absolutely! I sell some tart warmers at 12.00 each and the soy melts are 3.50 each....same thing. I don't know what size your warmers are but if they are the standard size...I think it is very reasonable.
  5. Adam is the best. My thoughts on this are....he is young...he is a very hard working young man and deserves a chance. He not only has been a wonderful host...he loaded my entire site for me. He also adjusted a few tiny things that were bugging me and all within 24 hours!! Try That with your current host. Hell I had to wait a week for a response before. He also just sent me a Christmas card. He is very professional and grateful for the business. I highly suggest using Graceful Hosting.
  6. At what point do you spritz?? I have used alcohol to "clean up the ash" but never to prevent it. I ALWAYS have ash...dammit
  7. I suppose I don't know what I am asking for. As I have never made it...I see other peeps with the cupcakes and frosting and since the cream soap is whipped and put in buckets to "rot"... I thought I could use this for frosting...no?? sorry....I need to be more ed-u-macaded.......
  8. Does anyone sell whipped soap? I want some to make some "icing" for some bath cupcakes. I think they would sell in the the store. I really just do not want to attempt making any at the this time in the season....as I have never made any. I just want about 2 pounds or so.....should I post this in the classified ads? pm me please!
  9. what about colorant? Can you do the same thing? I always make up my batches of lotion per scent and pour it immediately. It would be nice to master batch it. I like pouring the lotion when it is still a little warm because it is easy like that but I could try the big bag theory too. I only color two of my lotions but wondered if it can be added....cold.
  10. Misletoe was my biggest seller last Christmas and I have people asking for it already. Carmelized Pralines or is it Pecans??...anyway it is very strong Creme Brulee Frank and Myrhh There are more....
  11. My craft show has been cancelled... as my grandmother is in the hospital. I appreciate any and all thoughts for her recovery.. Thanks and I do hope everyone kicks butt and sells everything and is in a panic for the next show!!!
  12. I like the background. I only had time to glance through but the one thing that caught my eye was the duck soap named Monkey Farts. I think it should be renamed...it doesn't "go together". I am diggin that pretty salt bar!
  13. It is cool to google your name it comes up...kinda makes you feel like you have done something.... I like your website start. It has a nice, clean feel. Good luck!
  14. I have soaped the Lavender, fruit slices, basil and herb, frankinscense and myrrh (sp?)...these are some I can think of at the moment. The lavender holds pretty good but not past....say....6 months or so. I can say no to the coconut as it disappeared immediately and smelled like moth balls. Oh yeah...Peppermint and Eucalyptus is great in a scrubby soap, Peach faded but damn it is so yummy. Sweet Pea hangs in there. I think that is all this time...really.
  15. I have a retail store and have just added a local jewelry maker to add her items in the store. She makes really pretty jewelry and so far it has sold very well. There are some pottery items, also from a local artist too. I actually the jewelry in my windows as I have three large windows and of course cannot put any of MY products there as they melt or turn rancid...anyway...it gets the attention of shoppers and if they happen to buy a candle too....even better!! I am actually looking for someone to put handbags in the store on consignment. Right now, I feel like the more variety...the better! I don't want to make anything else but welcome other peoples craft.
  16. I have remelted multi colored pillars....initially the wax was kinda gray....green...whatever and made some really pretty ones ofter just adding a couple more drops of some color to the wax. The last one I did like this...turned out so cool!! I had comments on how cool it looked and of course I could not duplicate it to save my life!
  17. thanks! I will try all the suggestions
  18. I have a wholesale account the is requesting a lotion to be a beige..ish tan color. I HAD some vanilla coloring form the chemistry store but it was not enough to get it as dark as she wanted. I have all the primary colors and some variants for coloring lotions....does anyone have any suggestions in making the lotion that color without me having to place an order?? I have no brown color. Thanks for any help!
  19. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! I will look into the SS boxes. I think I have a mold that could be utilized but I need to check the measurments.
  20. I was attending my grandmothers 90th birthday  and was catching up with a distant cousin. I told him about the shop and he says " You know I own 5 hotels...you should put your soaps in the B&B's". I could have fallen off the chair. So anyway, 2 of these 5 are indeed Inn's or B&B and high end. Of course I am thinking smaller soaps and body products. Should the soaps be wrapped completely? boxed? I was thinking the Oatmeal and Honey soap for neutrality. I really don't know what to present to them. My creativity has gone _____________. Should I offer private label? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Elizabeth
  21. Thanks! I dare say I am not good at cutting a straight and perfectly the same bar of soap anyway but I think it adds to the "handcrafted" part. However, I had not really thought out the possiblity of it being a really hard one to cut! I always cut after making them in the store. I have made up some logs and may try taking both! Thanks for the comments and feedback! Would love to hear more!
