  1. I haven't tried anything other that the EZ soy wax flakes. Afraid to try new things I guess, but maybe I should branch out, I may like something else more!!
  2. I usually heat the pot back up and wipe out the residue with paper towel. Then I wash it, didn't realize I could just leave it. I have always been worried that the fragrance/color would affect my next candle. I am so thankful for this site and all of you with your experience!!
  3. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on a good supplier for beeswax sheets? I want to try my hand at making rolled beeswax pillars and maybe even some votives, but not sure where to start looking :undecided . TIA for any help!! Jewel
  4. I am not good with the suggestions, but I did want to say good luck to you!! I still haven't figured out a name so I can totally relate. . . But I am no where near ready to start selling anyway. Anyway, good luck!! I am sure you will think of something wonderful.
  5. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun! Not sure if I will make it this year though since it is two weeks before my due date. I am not at a point where I can sell my candles, but I think it would be a wonderful experience!! Maybe next year!!
  6. All of these beautiful pillars I am seeing is making me want to branch out!! Until now I have only tried container candles, but I think I want to try more!!! Candle making is so addicting!!!
  7. Yeah, I am stuck in my basement. Wish we would have kept the old stove and put it down there, it would have been a big help. Thanks for the idea!! I didn't even think of that. I have a couple of testers I need to melt down so that would be perfect!!
  8. HI all, I have a Marlo Quinn candle (I know they are no longer in business), and it is in the scent Smokey Mountain Homebrew. I make soy candles pretty much for a hobby, and I wanted to duplicate the scent for my home because when the MQ candle is gone, its gone. Sorry I am rambling. I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations? TIA!!
  9. I was thinking about trying this wax. How did your candle ever end up turning out? Where did you get this wax from? I went to their website and it didn't really look like I could purchase from it. TIA for the help!!
  10. That would be great! I have Christmas presents to make and that presto pot is sure going to speed up the process!! Thanks so much both of you for the help!! I really appreciate it.
  11. the drill bit and tap size aren't a problem, my husband works for a power tool company. , but I just don't want the valves to be too big (is that possible?). . . thanks so much for your thoughts!! unfortunately we don't have a lowe's very close to us, so I would probably just spend just as much money in gas as I would if I bought the 3/8 from Ace. :undecided you should get a prize LOL
  12. Just had a quick question for those of you who use presto pots as your wax melter. I went to Home Depot to buy the parts suggested on this site, but they do not have the 3/8" stuff. So then I went to Ace Hardware and you can imagine, it was pretty expensive, but they had the right sizes. I was wondering if any of you use larger sizes than the 3/8" to make your spigot? IF so what size do you use?? Or should I just fork out the dough and get the 3/8"? Thanks for all the help!!!
  13. I use ezsoy. They said 1-1.5 oz per pound. So up to 9%. Thanks for the help ladies!! I never would have thought to contact BCN. Sometimes I don't know what end is up. LOL.
  14. What size wicks do you all use in the dixie cups then for the votives? tia!
  15. Where do you get the 50/50 blend? I am still fairly "new" to this forum, and don't know what all the abbreviations stand for. I love ez soy, but hate that I have to pour at such a low temp. Edited to add this: OOPs, I just read up a little higher and saw the other link to that post, and now I know what FH stands for!
  16. Hi all, I was wondering if you could tell me what the maximum fo load for soy is? I know I read it somewhere, but cannot remember where. :embarasse My candles just haven't been having the awesome throw that I am looking for, with any of the different fo I have been using. So I was wondering how much extra FO I can add, without making my candle dangerous. I have been doing 1oz per pound. TIA for the help!!
  17. I love the ezsoy from BCN. I have been using it for about three years now.
  18. Thank you for posting this!! Where online can I go for a lye calculator? Thanks again, I am hoping to get some stuff for Christmas so I can start working on this craft.
  19. I would have to say Mango Papaya. My husband loves it, but ugh, I cannot stand it!!
  20. I tried to layer a candle once, I think with caramel, buttercream, and cannot remember the other scent. Anyway when it burned down to the next layer is smelled like melted plastic! Any thoughts on why this may have happened?? Thanks!!
  21. OH and I did look at the soap crafter's guild one, and you actually have to be a soap crafter as well. I have dabled in MP soap making but at this time I only really make candles. . . Thank for the idea though.
  22. I should call my homeowner's place and see! Thanks for the idea!
  23. Do any of you know of an affordable place to get insurance through in WI? Until I can find something reasonable, I will have to put expanding to craft fairs and such on hold. TIA for the help!!
  24. I am new to all of this. I guess I didn't even know you need insurance!? Any ideas on where to look other than what is posted here?? I will have to do a lot more research than I thought on all of this!!!
