  1. I give them a little squeeze with some needle nose plyers on the neck of the tab, careful not to bend the base too much. I use hot glue to put mine in.
  2. You might try this link for some ideas. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10042&highlight=soap+haves
  3. Those are beautiful soaps, I think you are no longer swirling impaired. I just love those mica swirls.
  4. In my 464I used 6% because it is a strong FO, that throws well at 6% in my 415. I have noticed the same thing, after it burns for a while, the scent seems to go away. Thought it was just me, but asked DH the other day if he could smell the candle I had lit in the living room, and he said what candle? If it had been the 415, you could have smelled it in the kitchen and the living room. This is one of my strongest scents, and normally does well at 6%, but not in the 464. Glad it wasn't just me noticing that.
  5. Oooh oooh, i want to see that liner, would love to have a liner like that for my log. I have about 3 sheets of that no melt mylar here that I could bring if need be. You are so sweet to share your recipe. I absolutely loved the Oakmoss that you did in the swap with the copper penny swirl in it.
  6. Beautiful cut pics Brenda.....that gold mica really sets it off.
  7. Woohoo VE is gonna make soap! Don't forget Bunny, if there is anything I can bring, butters, oils, stick blender, anything, if I have it and you need it, I will bring it. Containers, ziplock bags, whatever. I just don't want to bring something that 2 or 3 others are bringing, since there will be 3 of us traveling in the car, with luggage and an ice chest.
  8. It won't eliminate it, but it does help some.
  9. It helps smooth out the tops, helps scent throw, and what Cara said. Use it sparingly between 2-5%. You will have to test to see which percentage works for you. If you go with beeswax and decide on your percentage, you will probably want to go down 1% in the winter months.
  10. I have to disagree with you Julie. She can't do 10 things at once......she can do at least 12 things at once, LOL!
  11. Very nice looking, nice touch with the lime slices.
  12. Very nice Carol, congrats on your swirl!
  13. Yeah, they are a little bulky, but I really love mine. I like my log molds too, but I can't get as good a swirls in them, as the log molds.
  14. I am with you Julie, I wish I could contribute something to these demos. I have asked Bunny several times about bringing something and she has never told me, so I guess she has it covered. I have a bunch of mango butter, containers, palm kernal oil, etc. if I need to bring it, it isn't a problem. This is all going to be so much fun. Making CP soap in a hotel room, LOL! Can't wait to see all of this. Gotta bring my notebook and pen so I can take some good notes.
  15. Very cute idea Val....bet it smells wonderful!
  16. First I would like to say that jar is a PITA to wick for me. It actually should be able to get by with smaller wicks than the 52's. Like Geek mentioned, make sure they are trimmed to the right height. If they are trimmed too short, it will not burn right, from the start. I could never get those jars to wick right, the largest wick couldn't cut it and the smallest HTP wicks I found were too much for it. A lot of it has to do with the neck of the jar. I found the widemouth masons much easier to wick because they do not have the chimney that the square mouth jars have. I found I could wick those the same as my keepsake jars. Good luck with your testing and keep us posted.
  17. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but all of my other wicks are paraffin coated and the Ecos I have are soy coated. My understanding is that they were especially made for soy waxes.
  18. I poured 2 candles with this wax, 3 or 4 nights ago and have left them sitting. Candle #1 was 464, with 8 drops of red and 6% FO (Serendipity from CC), heated to about 180 and poured at about 133 into an unheated jar. Candle #2 has the same ingredients, but was poured using the tempering method suggested. Morning after..... Candle #1 frosting on the bottom and a little on the sides, has gotten a little worse as it has sat the last couple of days. Heat gunned the top, wasn't too bad, but not as smooth as I was expecting. Candle #2 no frosting at all, not even after sitting for the last 3 days or so. But after heatgunning, the top developed a rough, almost grainy look to it. Cold throw is great, have not tested hot throw, but expect it to be just as good as the straight 415. Not as impressed with this wax as I thought I would be, but I am going to play around with it some more, since I ordered a couple of bags to play with. I like the idea of pouring hot, but don't like the frosting. I like the non-frosted candle, but the tempering seems like a lot of work. I also got some USA to try out and so may try mixing my own concoction and see what I can come up with. But I would say, that with the FO load, anywhere from 6-9% you should do well with.
  19. ROFLMAO! That is what *I* need to be wearing, only mine needs to cover my whole body, LOL!
  20. Wooohoo, that is awesome looking soap! You have outdone yourself this time Julie. Just love those colors together. Gonna have to buy me some more of those oxides.
  21. Beautiful Julie?.... and my fav. colors too, red and black. What did you use for your coloring on this one?
  22. KFTS here is the link to the gift exchange, please do sign up, the more people, the more fun it will be. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26584
  23. I think they are just beautiful, love the round soaps and keep meaning to try them out. I am thinking after the conference. Have you tried using mylar for a liner in your mold? I have heard some say that a little time in the freezer will help releasing it from the mold too. Love the swirl you did on that round one.
