  1. First thing to do would be to look in the recipe section and choose one of the basic soap recipes, such as Quiet Girl's. Then add approx a tsp to a tbs of Oatmeal ppo to the oils and stickblend well before adding lye mixture. Same with the honey. I love Goat's milk, oatmeal and honey soap. You should spend some time researching milk soap before you attempt it though. The search function will help greatly with the task. Have fun soaping!
  2. I second the thanks, Scented. The Scientific Soapmaking looks interesting and I very much enjoyed the DOS experiment. You rock!
  3. I just bought some pretty cobalt bottles from the Chemistry Store. I've made 2oz bottles of dry oil spray that look very nice. I like the colored bottles, as the spray can't be colored. I got my order very quickly, so fast that I was surprised to see it:)
  4. I haven't bought herbs from the myself, only oils and butters, but Camden Grey's main business is eo's and they carry lots of herbs. They're in Miami, so shipping along the East Coast and South isn't too bad. I've always been pleased with what I've bought from them.
  5. I wasn't the one who asked, but thank you for the link. I was just today thinking that I'd do melts instead of candles for gifts this year, so I'd need warmers to complete the gifts. This will make my gift giving so much better!
  6. Yum. I'm thinking crab legs and shrimp for supper with lotsa melted butter. Or herbed butter with just about anything. Oh, honey butter and cinnamon butter. Can you tell that I like butter?
  7. Your soaps are the prettiest I've ever seen.
  8. This site has a body/linen spray base. I don't make either, but I was over there picking up some other goodies and thought of you.
  9. I have used Mill Creek's body wash base. It stays nice and thick, is creamy and luscious. It's what I used till I started making CPHP.
  10. Robin, you are just a fountain of information! Who woulda thunk something like so relevant would be waiting? Even though I'd never thought about aspirin and soap, that was neat. I learned something sciencie today!
  11. I began making CPHP last summer and have never looked back. I won't use anything else for my DD or DH, either. We travel with our own soap, too! I thought I was weird that way. Good to know that among soapers I'm not too strange! I have no desire to use commercial detergent products on my self or my family. Real soap rocks.
  12. The mold you used for your overpours is so cute for that soap. I bet it smells and feels great.
  13. Here's what the thesaurus said about passion. I'm with ya'll on how the word isn't used for anything but sex these days. What a shame. ps Your soaps sound nice:)
  14. Nice save, Grandma! So it seems the soaping bug has bitten another one!:highfive: Happy soapin'!
  15. :DI just had to laugh out loud at this picture! Kids really are creative, aren't they? Thanks for sharing.
  16. OMG, that's so horrible! I vote for CareBear as the winner, hands down. I haven't been visited so terribly by the soap gremlins, as of yet. My worst experience was the time I forgot to put the fo into my beautifully colored and marbled soap. I was able to free my soap from the mold and mix in the fo, but bye bye pretty soap. It was cphp, too, so it's a miracle I could incorporate the fo at that point. Knock, knock, who's there? It's the soap gremlins!*faint* Great idea for a thread, btw.
  17. Platex gloves and vinyl exam gloves for the medical fields aren't the same thing. We have them in out dental office for the boss, who doesn't like the nitrile. Our office is latex free, as so many folks have latex allergies these days. Check out Walmart or home depot in the painting section for latex gloves. They don't have as much stretch as nitrile, and they usually cost a lot less Now all you've gotta do is get soaping!
  18. I, too, use nitrile gloves with no problems. I've also used the vinyl ones with no problems. The company is most likely covering their bases legally. Too bad we have to do that, based on crazy law suits. Sassy Soaper
  19. I've used Camden Grey for several oils and butters. They did a good job for me!
  20. I bet it would hang if you attached a ribbon at each side of the top with it hanging length wise and tied it onto the rear view mirror. I think there are a lot of folks out there that would want one of those if they were on the market.
  21. OMG, that's just stunning! I've been away from candles for some time. I didn't even know this stuff existed! Now I've got something else to buy! Thanks for sharing.
  22. IMO, the biggest difference between HP and M&P is that HP/CP has no detergents, while M&P does. Also, HP/CP offers more creative play in devising the recipe for the soap (I can spend hours on SoapCalc!), as well as the fragrance, color and additives with which you may personalize M&P. I have used coconut oil for all of my HP and it rocks in the lather department:thumbsup: I usually get it at WalMart, it's with the regular cooking oils. You can also get a small bottle of castor oil in the pharmacy dept, but it's expensive compared to buying it in larger amounts. I get mine from Camden Gray. You may find that ordering from an online store and paying shipping still works out to be less money than buying locally and paying for gas and taxes. HTH
  23. Ditto! Grumpy, you are so #%#@ing talented.
  24. Camden Grey in Miami has both as well. I get most of my oils/butters from them.
