  1. Your soap makes me wanna go and wash my hair RIGHT NOW!! That's some beeeeatiful soap.
  2. Thanks for sharing LaVida. Those pictures are great! Another addition to the list of things I've gotta try! j Also, thanks for including the name of the book...I read all the way thru and then back up looking for that, and you had it in the first post! I've been up way too long. Lisa
  3. That a nice vintage looking soap. I can see it in a Victorian guest bath, or maybe shabby chic...I think it would appeal to everyone. It made me smile:thumbsup: Lisa
  4. Well, I sure am glad to get the info on the Epson Durabrite inks! I'm using an Epson, so I've gotta go check the inks. Just returned from checking, and my printer won't use those inks. I'm gonna do a test and see how this printer's labels will stand up to H2O. Thanks for bringing this up. I was looking at a color laser, but if I could go with a much less expensive inkjet for durabrite inks, ($99 for the cheapest!) I'll go that way. Lisa
  5. I'm glad to hear that your eye is gonna be okay. It was too close for comfort, though. I don't have any eye protection here to use, so I've done my first two batches without. I'm gonna get a pair of safety glasses tomorrow! Thank you for sharing your story, and once again, I'm glad you're gonna be okay. Lisa
  6. Thanks for the link, ladysj...now I have to chew over all that info and decide which method to try. I really like the idea of making stuff myself, obviously:D Lisa
  7. LaVida, those are scrumptious looking! You are so creative. Bet those sell like hot cakes!LOL Lisa
  8. Stunning is a good word to describe that layered soap. You are so very creative. The butterflies are really cute, too. Lisa
  9. Girlie, that ain't ruined! It's soap!! How cool is that? I'm newly addicted to the sport of soaping. Yeah, that's right, I said sport. If golf is a sport, soaping should be too! Can you see it in the Olympics? Your soap looks nice and creamy. Nice mold. Lisa
  10. Wow, LaVida, those little guys are super cute. I'm always referring to my DD as my little monkey, so I know she would love these. I'm gonna have to get some of these molds. Thanks for sharing your work, and btw, those layered soaps are beautiful as well. Lisa
  11. Bumping in hopes of learning more!!! I've never known anyone to make their own laundry soap, so I'd really like to know how the coconut bar is used. Is it a stain stick, like the lard bar, or can/should it be used for general laundry soap, maybe shredded before adding to the machine? Thanks in advance for answering what is probably a seriously dumb question. I don't enjoy sounding like a dolt, but this really picqued my interest!! I've only made two batches of HP and am madly in love with soaping. I want to make it all!!! CP is next, I'm gonna build a mold this weekend. Lisa
  12. I like Millcreek's soy lotion base. It leaves your skin silky and absorbs easily. The price is good as well. Lisa
  13. The only reason I use only body safe FO's at this point is that $$ is an issue and I do make b&b products to match, for gifts. Candle, soap, lotion, body spray all in the same scent. My friends and family like matching sets, as do I. Lisa
  14. Hi homespun, I think they just put that warning on for their legal dept due to liability issues. I've been using a Presto Pot for a least a year with no problems. Much better than the double boiler method. I love my presto pot. Just watch the temperature, don't set it too high and don't leave it alone for more than a few minutes with wax in an power on. Lisa
  15. I hope ya'll don't think I'm too ridiculously stupid, but would you use this as a stain stick only, or could it be used as a general laundry soap? How would you measure/add to the machine if used as laundry soap? Lisa
  16. Your candles are lovely. I bet they smell fantastic. I hope your party goes well and you have orders thru the roof!! Lisa
  17. I was introduced to soy candles in just that manner, and did (gasp) dip my fingers into soy candles for a while. Never had any problems or reactions to the FO. I can't say when I stopped dipping, I just did at some point, and wouldn't ever tell anyone that dipping is a good idea, just too dangerous, you don't know what some people will do. That being said, I do use the dregs of my pour pot to rub into my hands and arms after pouring. I use all body safe FO's and there is nobody there to see me. Soy wax is an awesome moisturizer. Someone is gonna come up with a soy wax warmer for spas/nail techs and it's gonna be a big hit, mark my words. I think it's actually a good idea from a legal point of view to add a disclaimer to warning labels "not intended for use as hand lotion". Liability is always an issue in any business these days. Lisa
  18. Michelle, it sounds like you've been having lots of fun! I bet those are some happy kids! Good luck at the fair!! Lisa
  19. What a lovely DH you have!!! I've only just begun soaping, but I already want a slab mold, so thank you for the measurements. Lisa
  20. I haven't added color to my candles since the first batch or two. It's so much easier and they look great natural. As long as they smell great, people don't mind or even notice. I've had no comments regarding color. at any rate. HTH Lisa
  21. My friend's son was sitting here yesterday while I was showing her this board and your awesome soaps and he said "I would love some of those". One of these days I'm gonna have to try them. They look amazing. Lisa
  22. Those bars are lovely. I like the teas added, a very nice touch. Lisa
  23. Are you sure those aren't food?!? I must be sugar obsessed, but I could eat those! Great job. Lisa
  24. MaryAnn, that is one cute pooch. I'm sure he'll love his very own soap. I just made my first ever soap unscented for my dogs (and my DH) who have sensitive skin. I absolutely HATE trying to wash them with shampoo - the bottle is a pain in the patootie. I really like the stamps, too! Lisa
