  1. So adding the butter doesn't cut down on the bubbling? I thought it would. I'd love to add a tiny bit of shea to mine and see what happens.
  2. My DREAM come true would be to have a little B&B shop somwhere in the downtown area of a cute little suburb. In my dreams I have it al designed rustic looking with tiny splashes of trendy bright colors. I'm going to school for Theraputic Massage right now so I'd have my own practice there too. Kind of like a B&B shop and wellness center for the Body-Mind-Spirit. And of course all my massage threapy clients would have to walk through my store. teehee.... and see & smell all my wonderful B&B products each time. I'd love to hear about your stores.. see pictures or whatever. Anyone?
  3. Thank Thank Thank YOU! I am so glad I found this forum!
  4. Why can't I find plastic 12 oz jars? Everyone sells 4,8 & 16 oz jars. I think 8oz is too small for my sugar scrubs and 16 is too HUGE! I need clear 12/13 oz jars. Can anyone help?? I've been searchng the net for days now with no luck.
  5. I can see researching other people poducts but copying!? What are you going to do? Are you going to confront her? I'm new in this and i've studied other people products whom I admire, but I like to be original.. not that I haven't gotten ideas from others businesses but I always personalize it with my own very special touches. I'd be really upset if this ever happens to me since I'm putting so much work into defining my product line.
  6. I'm placing an order soon, it looks fantastic. I'm thinking of using it in my Sugar scrubs and marketing it as just a whipped Soap. I hope someone who has used it responds here.. I'll be watching!
  7. I guess I found my new supplier! No shipping! HOORAY! Have most of you had success with them? I've already read some good comments about them in the short time I've been here.
  8. I'm think ing of trying my first CP. I want to use Soy oil and shea butter are my "must have ingredients" I love this easy recipe posted in this forum http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28100 and I'd like to use this recipe but what can I substitute for the soy? I don't want to leave out something that's going to change the soap too much. Can anyone help?
  9. Is it any cheaper if I'm ONLY doing B&B.. no candles? SOrry, I'm not a cheapskate, just BROKE!
  10. I'm planning on trying M&P and was looking at the price of molds. These sounds like an easy way to do it. Am I heading in the right direction? I found these at target. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_11/602-0205781-7231046?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0002MH2KM
  11. What is the best ingredient in your opinion to add to a M&P soap to use as an exfoliator? I've never made soaps before but am going to place a NG order today and give it a try. Thanks!
  12. Is this kind of expensive? Is that really $416 per year for the insurance? I thought it would be much cheaper. Is that really what insurance costs in this business?
  13. I don't have my recipe up here in my office (don't wanna wake up the baby and go fumbling for it:tiptoe: ) I think I found it somewhere through The Chemistry store Website. Something like baking soda, glyceryn liquid, & laurel somethin? It sounds like they are moldable for a while before they harden and you can put them in a soap loaf mold and actually slice them. At least that's what it sounds like to me. I hope thats how it works cuz it sounds pretty cool!
  14. I had no idea there were so many here in Illinois.. some just a half hour away from me! Thanks so much for this!
  15. I'm about to give it a try. Anyone have any experience with these or any words of wisdom? I've never even tried one or purchased them anywhere myself. Hard to believe something solid can give you a full bath of bubbles! Are these popular right now? Are people buying them?
  16. Yesterday I got a NG shipment of Fresh Brewed Coffee and their French Vanilla! I mixed them 50/50. I just burned them in my oil diffuser to get a sneak peak of the scent and it was fab! I thought the Fresh brewed coffee on it's own was the real thing!
  17. I'm new to this and I was stressing about where to get insurance.. this sounds just perfect! Thanks so much for posting this, it wold have taken me a long time to find it on my own!!!
  18. I made this tonight with a full pound of shea substituted for the other butters. I tinted it a light peachy color and scented with Melon Jasmine. Before I put the corn starch in... it was definitely too greasy feeling. The corn starch made it more silky and less greasy. LOVE IT!
  19. Nevermind I found it in a previous thread! I mustve missed it!
  20. I just want the clear so I can add colorant to it for making parfaits. I've searched the web and just can't find it. Anyone know?
  21. the lotion based scrub is a premade base and I intend to use a preservative just haven' found the right one yet.
  22. I'm just starting out and have been very happy with them. They have a great "Back to Basics" lotion base that is inexpensive and great quality. Customer service is awesome too. Love them! Oh and their refined shea is fantastic. Never grainy and perfect consistancy every time!
  23. Hi! I am totally new at this and expect to have my business rolled out by then end of winter. Right now I'm still in the testing stages. I'd love some advice from you pros! I've made a wonderful almond oil/shea based sugar scrub and in addition a whipped lotion with shea sugar scrub (kind of like a souffle scrub) They are both great, the oil based one being much more moisturizing maybe too much so for some people. Not greasy though. The Cream based souffle scrub is less oil but as exfoiliating as the other if not more. It's also a tad bit less expensive to make. I am torn if I need to pick just one of the scrubs to add to my line or if there is a way I can differentiate the two somehow and keep them both in my line. I also though of making one of them a peppermint foot scrub? But I am all out of ideas. Any advice?
