  1. candleman I LOVE those.. they may be worth the price for what I have in mind, Thanx a MILLION!
  2. What about Sandalwood? It is pretty similiar? Maybe more people would like that one. NG has a Sandalwood with Patchouli in it I believe. hmmmmm just thinkin.
  3. I have so many fruity scents in my line I was trying to add an earth scent. So I did an experiment and made a big batch of Body Butter (I was confident it was gonna be good) of NG's Patchouli with a little sweet orange EO in it. Boo hoo! My testers hated it. In fact they never even heard of patchouli in the first place. These were girls in their later 20's and early 30's. I'm in my mid thirties and I remember it as retro hippie type scent when I was in my teens. I don't think it's the greatest scent but I thought it was pretty interesting with the orange it it. (just a little) I also gave one to my mom who said it's okay.. but she's my mom and I can't trust her answers on stuff like this. So many of you are saying that patchouli is such a big seller for you. Should I try a different supplier ofthe FO or should I just assume that I tested it on the wrong people?
  4. I want to have serve yourself salts with scoops to set up at home parties.. Do you think there is any reason why these wouldn't work? I like the clear so they can see the pretty colors. I'm not sre if they're big enough though, it's hard to tell how much salt I can get in each one. Can't go see them since they are only sold online. Opinions?http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-9984050-1587301?_encoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BDHRO8
  5. Just dug up this thread because I was wondering the same thing about what non bath products I could sell once I get my website going. I live a couple hours from you Jenny and everyone here knows what a sugar scrub is! LOL!!! More people from my area (Naperville) are coming your way I promise since the new attractions that have been built, instead of going to the Dells! I saw your products at a gift shop but I wish I would have stopped in your store. We go to that area a few times a year so I might mosey in sometime.. so don't think I'm a stalker. LOL! There are some great ideas here wow! What I decided for my online store is... -Relaxation CD's -Fun books about bathing rituals & stuff- there's alot of them out there. -I also like the idea of fun pictures/prints for the bathroom -Oil burners -Anything relaxation related!
  6. Yep Sara I know they do but I had no luck that way and had an urgent question I was able to get several responses right away here by PM Sorry
  7. This spoiled child has to get some work done that's all! I already have a couple people PMing me.
  8. Because there are people here who work for the owner. I know because I just did a search on here for DIY phone number here after not being able to find a number and I found last years whole drama surrounding customer service and the non-exsistant phone number.. It's just that I need an answer on something today so I thought I'd try posting here as well as sending them another email.
  9. I have nothing yet (just starting) but I plan to have a contemporary style with just a touch of rustic. Sounds like it doesn't make sense but for instance my name wiil be 'river vally bath co.' and the colors will be orange, teal, sage green with an autumn look with an oak leaf logo (the rustic part) but with still classic and clean looking with fun unexpected spalshes bright colors, whimsy and humor.
  10. contact me by email or PM? I have a question that needs a quick answer.
  11. Ohh that is wonderful! Love that color! I would buy those up in a sec! Is it the Lush Karma Dupe? Are you allowed to call it Karma when selling it? Just wondering.
  12. Eugenia is right. I started with the ovals like a big dummy! Bad bad ovals.
  13. That's it Michelle.. OMG you are the most awesome super duper woman EVERRR! You wanna know why? Not only did yo find the elusive frosting MP but Oak Court is about.... ummmm.... a 20 minute drive from MY HOUSE!!!! Thanks again! Oh and I never thought of trying to just whip it up myself.. I'll try that too. Thanks everyone!
  14. I like The Candlemakers Store Thick Soy lotion. It is VERY thick and I whip it up with a little shea butter. I call it my Soy & Shea Body Butter. Great price.. decent shipping.. great customer service.
  15. I have a book here that I just purchased this weekend. It has a section on making Mp Soaps. It describes all the typical types of MP bases, all of which I see on all the distributers sites. But it also mentions a whipped MP that can be used as a topping to MP soap for decorative use. They also refer to it as 'frosting MP' I've been all over the web and have never heard of such a thing. It sounds very though and I'd love to get my hands on some of that to try if such thing even exsists. Anyone else ever heard of it?
  16. MLS-Michelle. Thank you so much. I was surprised to read your response today because I was thinking the along those same lines and feeling kind of bad. I was starting to think maybe this forum isn't for people like me just getting started, looking for support, insight, advice and even a little mentoring. Your eye, nose and throat Dr. thing gave me the best laugh of my day. I've tried to just think "well, these people have been in the business for a while, then some newbie like me comes along thinking it's all easier than it really is, and maybe the veterans feel a little disrespected in their profession by that." Well guess what? I DID come onto this a year ago thinking it should be a piece of cake. But it's not. I realized that after much research and tons of time invested in this so far. I always make sure to let the veterans know how much I respect their knowledge and I would never come here expecting "free handouts" of information. As a "pay it forward" I try to answer threads if I have answers for people here even though I'm new because I want to be a part of a supportive forum. In the future as I learn more I'm sure I'll have more knowledge to share. BTW, I went to Walgreens tonight and checked out all the diaper rash ointments. Thay all say "pharmicist tested" blah blah.. I need to keep my business a little more simple than that (which is why I am pre-made base girl) so I'm not going to make that product. Also .. everyone.. AWESOME advice about the 'earthy scents.' I think your exactly right. I can't wait to try out some patchouli or & stuff like that. Thanks. Jazz, No offense taken sis. I am hoping to start selling in the spring after more testing but it may take even longer, who knows. I'm still cruching numbers so that I can actually make a profit that is worth all the time I'll spend. And Jazz ....I can imagine that people probably DO come to this forum and say.. "Hey, tell me how to do everything so I don't have to do any of the footwork myself" That must be hard to take. Thanks again everyone!
  17. Candy.. I am using bases. I said I've been making the products for two months but I have been researching and talking to suppliers about additives and the like....for an entire year to see if this was something I could actually do without having to do it from scratch. I have been in contact with all my suppliers and have discussed their preservation systems. I have also discussed with them what I am adding to the products (which I keep very simple) safety issues and how that might effect the product..etc... Everything is good and I am working with reputable suppliers like KB, BCN, NG, and TCS. I am not making anything from scratch except the fizzies, melties and bubblebars. Soy candle wicks and candle safety?? I have contacted Jenny/Kristine's Shower and have tried her candles out. Love them! I have not filled out her wholesale form yet but I intend to. I would love to carry her candles. I am not making them myself. Wholesale all the way. Right Jazz, I have not researched the diaper rash balm yet. It is simply something that I want to try and I got the answers I was looking for. From that I have to decide is this somethig I want to research more or just forget about it and focus on everything else. I was just tossing t out there. Thanks for all your responses!
  18. Thank you so much! This is very important and helpful info. Wow, you can really get yourself into trouble in this business if you aren't careful. I think that is the biggest surprise I've come to in this new venture of mine.
  19. Sawyer, your right... no scent in the natural products. Thanks! I was just getting carried away as I was typing.. I'm such a foho. Sock.. Well I have been making B&B products for about two months! I've been investigating and researching though for about a year before I actually started making anything. I am having a blast! Insurance? No not yet. I am not selling anything yet though.. I will be getting insurance though very soon before I sell even an ounce of anything to anyone.
  20. Some supplier should make a squezzy malibu with a larger opening specifically made for scrubs. There is obviously a market for it! I guess I'll stick to straight jars for now. I couldn't get the product out when I tested.
