  1. I've been thinking alot abut the names of what my products & scents will be and I was wondering your opinions. There are two ways to go IMO.... 1. being very clear about the scent or the product so that customers don't have to guess. ie.. Lavendar & citrus is called just that. And a whipped lotion is simply called a whipped lotion. or 2. being very FUN and creative about it kind of like how Lush (are we allowed to say that word? ) ie... calling a lavendar scent something like "dreamtime" or a thick lotion called a "souffle" or something of the like. I'd like to be fun and creative about it but I'm wondering if more people are tempted to just walk away at a craft show thinking "I dunno what the heck that stuff is" or especially selling onlne that people won't be seeing or smelling the product and will be too scared to try it not sure what it is or smells like. hmmm. Even though I think I know what direction I'm going in, I'm very Interested in your opinions.
  2. You're right. That stinks. I'd be cutting all darn day long. Stooopid labels!
  3. Do you have an online source you can recommend? I've tried locally but I'm not having ay luck. All my printers have to send it out to someone else (of course they won't reveal their source:rolleyes2 ) and then I'm paying both companies for my labels and it's becomming too costly. Labels have been my biggest headache. Can anyone share a recommendation?
  4. I've been finding it pretty pricey to have professional labels done. I really don't want to print them myself, too much of a PITA. I don't mind designing them though. So I called Kinko's (the last place I expected to find a cheap deal) and if I send my design t othem in a .pdf file, they have can print full sheets for me for .50 each. I can fit around 4 or 5 labels on each sheet and then buy a paper cutter likr they use for scrapbooking and cut them out. That makes my labels .25 or less. I was looking at $1.00 each for professionally done. Has anyone tried doing it this way?
  5. Jenny, Your bags are sooo adorable! (I know I'm not much help):rolleyes2 IMO, some people (like me) will save really cute sturdy-type bags to use for other things, then it becomes a reminder around the house for repeat business.
  6. Great I will just email them. I agree that their customer service is fantastic. it must have just been a fluke then. I'm sure they'll take care of me! Thanks!
  7. I used this in a lotion base. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what? Every FO I've gotten from NG has been wonderful but this one although it sounded fantastic did not smell like vanilla or pear.. or anything for that matter, It just had a mild plasticy smell to it. I think next time I'll just but the French vanilla and the Fresh Pear and mix them.
  8. wow. Thats kinda wierd! I can't imagine the consistancy from the description. Are we talking like the jello squares you make for the kids that they can pick up with their fingers?
  9. Concentrates? Do you mean like what KB sells? Is that where you just add Deionized (whatever that is?) water? I thought I saw on thier website that you could add your own oils? That part is so confusing because like you all say.. if you add anythig of your own.. you've messed up the preservitive. I am taking this very serioulsy as I do not want to make and sell a product that I'm not 100% sure of it's safety. And no.. I did not consder the cost of testing or the cost of perfecting my recipe. I'm glad I brought up this question and found this forum!!
  10. TESTING? :faintingsmiley: Oh no. I forgot about that. That does not sound fun.
  11. Okay... I'm listening... I've heard that before here and I'm taking that seriuosly. It's just that I want to promote Soy lotions with Shea. I think it will go over big in my particular area. so I'm specific about those ingredients. I found a great base with those ingredients (so I wouldn't have to mess up the preservitive by messing with it) but I still wonder if I should do it from scratch to save money? I just can't figure out if it's worth it.
  12. As a retired webdesigner, I'll tell you that a great way to promote your site without spending much money is to promote it off the web.. locally. Sounds silly but it works. I've seen several small busnesses in my area do it. By having t-shirts printed, magnets for your car. local ads & flyers with your web address printed largely. I live in a large metro area though. I guess for someone out in the country it wouldn't do as much for you to do it this way. But otherwise it's a great way to build up your web business with local customers.
  13. I'm asking this as a newbie in the process of deciding who my suppliers will be.. my cost.. prices.. etc. (OVERWHELMING!) In your opinion is it worth it to keep cost down to make my lotions from scratch??? (I'm a pretty good cook so I think I could do it eventually with practice) or just buy my bases and maybe tweak them a bit by adding a bit of my own oils (with the suppliers input and expertise of course) I've been crunching numbers obsessively for two weeks now. EVEN in my sleep! When we start talking grams I can not figure out the cost per item fo the life of me! I just don't know what to do. So from scratch? or bases?.... give it to me straight ladies.. I totally respect your opinions! THANKS!
  14. HI! I'm actually in South Naperville and I live pretty close to the owners after talking to Kerry. Who is Kitty and what is the lunch thing??? Sorry I am such a CLUELESS Newbie! I'm going to check out Oak court too.. Thank you so much!
  15. Sounds awesome! I haven't tried it yet, but I'm about to place an order. What are you adding to it? I hear it's selling pretty well. My concern is that it would have to be priced higher than it's counter-part shower gel. salt/sgar scrub? I'd like to add some shea to it but I keep hearing that butter ruins the bubbling. Can anyone tell me your experiences with this stuff?
  16. http://www3.oag.com/Cities/Detail?city=3683596&cat=28&item=40578177 Hmmm. All I could find is this gift shop in NC that sells something called Annabelle Bath I googeled "annabelle bath" and that's all I could find. I like sluething!
  17. I hope this isn't a dumb question but I'm new so please forgive! Do we have to change the name of the FO's that are the same as companies like Victorias Secret? Some of the wholesalers say "type" after them. Do we have to say that on our labels or do we have to pick another (original) name for the FO? Thanks!
  18. I love the look of those parfaits! What are they? Lotion and aloe vera? they look fantastic in the pump bottles!
  19. I just go crazy for NG's Yuzu (Japanese Grapefruit) I just can't get enough of it!
