  1. I had my fiance read this thread, but yes I think it is somewhat of a guy thing. Thanks for all your input and opinions.
  2. LOL. I don't think I could give up on many FO's, there are so many great ones. My fiance says I'm an ingrediphobe. I have to read all of the labels, but only because I am allergic to a lot of items. Edited to add: I think I worded my poll wrong. I really just was wondering if anyone actually read ingredient labels to see what was in there products or was it just me.
  3. Maybe I wordded my post a little different than I meant. I don't mean an "all natural" product. Some of the ingredients used being natural and would be of more benefit to your skin. You have the preservatives and fragrance oils and items such as these that aren't always natural. I meant that I would rather make a product that when you turn it over you can at least understand what you are putting on your skin and make sure you aren't allergic to them, then to have a bunch of ingredients you can't understand. If that makes more sense.
  4. Okay I hope this is the right place to put this question, it pertains to bath and body. My fiance and I are having a debate regarding natural or not natural products. I prefer to make my products using natural ingredients, oils, and butters, he says that nobody reads the ingredients so why does it matter. He says that everybody goes to the store and only reads the front and picks which one looks the best and/or is the best price, in which I very much disagree. I would rather spend a little more to know I was getting the best product. Does anyone have any input on this subject? Thanks.
  5. Thanks. I think I have found a few suppliers a little bit closer.
  6. I currently buy all of my products from suppliers on the East Coast and the shipping is quite high to California. I just recieved a new catalog from GloryBee Foods a few weeks ago and was wondering if anyone has gotten a wholesale account with them and if so what type of discount is it, if you don't mind me asking. I know there prices are pretty reasonable, but with wholesale I'm wondering how much better the prices would be.
  7. This may be of some help, I know it is to me. I requested a catalog from Glory Bee Foods (natural food and craft supplies supplier). In the catalog, it doesn't list say bath scrub and a description, but it does have all of the oils, butters, additives and such with what their properties are. Example: Lemon Essential Oil - Antimicrobial, antiseptic, astringent, bactericidal, diuretic, insecticidal. Rice Bran Oil - Experller pressed. High in fatty acids and unsaponifiables. With antioxidizing properties and sunscreen properties. Use in all products for softening and moisturizing. Good for sensitive, mature or delicate skin where additional moisturizing is desired. Its a good book to have along side when writing descriptions of your products.
  8. I make both cp and m&p, so I'm not biased either way. I just don't agree with someone bashing on the way people make there products just because they don't make there products that way. To me handmade and handcrafted always meant the same thing, but in the reference you are using I can agree with one being handcrafted and one being handmade.
  9. My two cents... If you make it without a base you are making it handmade from scratch, if you are making it with a base it is still handmade just not from scratch. Same with the cake mix, if you make it from scratch, then handmade, with a box, still handmade just not from scratch. That's just the way I see it.
  10. I agree, they are just trying to make there product seem like its better. I don't agree with this type of marketing, but if thats what they choose to do to make themselves feel better, thats all on them.
  11. I like the idea of an animated cow if you were going for a cute design. I'm not sure what products you have, but say you had candles... You can have a picture of a cow trying to lasso one of your candles.
  12. Sara, I started scrapbooking years ago, I bought and bought supplies and now have no where to put them and I even took classes and went to those home parties. The funny thing is I only have about 3 pages complete out of my piles of stuff.
  13. Thank you Prairieannie. I wasn't sure of how hard it would be, I will get a trial version and test it out first before making any big purchase. Thanks.
  14. As of now, I just do all of my labels and designs with Microsoft Word, but there is only so much that can be done with that. What graphic design software is the best for making your own labels, editing photos to put on a website (adding white background, cut/paste items from pics, etc.) and for overall graphics? Thanks, Crystal
  15. I would also like to see a size for the bars to know how big they are. Question.. On the home page it says that when rubbed between the hands it melts on contact, does the whole bar melt or is it like a lotion the comes off a little at a time? Just curious. I think the site looks really cute, great job!
  16. okay, i wasn't sure. I will look into others or making my own. thank you.
  17. I came across this site and they have a cute soap display rack and kraft soap boxes with those little windows. Just thought I'd share with ya'll... I have been looking for some of these display boxes, is this an alright price or is it too much? It holds 48 bars and is $45.95 http://www.forcraftssake.mainsecure.net/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=34&zenid=7916bc4919e284aeb95f8ffb6878308c
  18. I currently switched to a paid website, but when I had a free website I used officelive.microsoft.com. It allows you to have your own domain name and was really easy to use and to access.
  19. What direction are you taking with your products, style, and can you give a little more background about them or your business? It would help so that we know sort of what you are looking for.
  20. I got some of the golden shea in the co-op also, but I wanted to try it without any oils just a fragrance oil and that didn't seem to work for me. It ended up turning more into a solid lotion than the whipped I had hoped for. I think with this shea that you need other oils to keep it lotion like. I may be wrong but this is what happened to me.
  21. Usually I add an essential oil to my whipped shea, has anyone just made plain whipped shea with just a fragrance oil and if so, how did it turn out? Was it too greasy or did it have the same consistency? Thanks.
  22. Thank you all, I will go with the scented. I want the smell with it so that I don't need to add other FO's to it.
  23. What is the difference between scented and unscented monoi de tahiti oil? I see the soapersupplies has the two options and I'm not sure which one to get. Suggestions please... THank you.
