  1. sounds good...the stark white base is kinda killing me...Gotta get going on some additives here. thanks elfcat for the info. My best selling scent here is Almond and maybe with a hint of cocoa powder It will look scrumptious ...Well gonna get on that tomorrow and then...I'll post some pics in the gallery. thanks all for you help and advise !!!
  2. http://www.kraftoutlet.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=163 I think this will work and the price i believe if one sheet is .19 , I can get three bands from that, makes it round 7 cents a label , and plus shipping brings it to .10 a label....Gonna also go to my office depot and see if they have something comparable first. Thanks for the tip on smearing ink with news print...Still think it would look cool vistprint does have product labels that will match busi cards but the cost is about .50 per...not sure I can justify that ...
  3. Judy, i do have plenty of TJ grocery bags ...Ill give it a try too...I have to see if I can get a decent stamp made as well. Wonder if vistaprint can do it to match busi cards...Oh so many ideas here..
  4. thanks for the responses...elfcat do u use it in M&P? what sorta color are you getting using cinnamon or cocoa powder?
  5. i agree luminousboutique ...or i cut into strips like bands and tape closed then get a stamp made specially for the soap...hmmm interesting ...i think that would be cheaper that inkjet printing.
  6. has anyone tried adding cocoa powder to m& p soap to color it or something that adds a more earthy color to the white bases. Also is cinnamon safe to add to m& p soap?? Thanks
  7. thanks verberkesch, But I am looking for paper to make bands for soap labels. I can find many sites for brown kraft labels but I am have trouble locating the paper. Oooh just had an idea...maybe wrap soap in old news paper then label with craft label ...label holds paper onto the soap and newspaper is freeish...i do have some round craft labels so I'll give a try and see how it turns out. If it looks goo I'll post a pic later
  8. Has anyone seen paper like this at a store like office depot ? I am looking for craft paper that I can use with my printer for soap labels. http://www.amazon.com/Brown-Bag-Paper-KRAFT-70lb/dp/B001CZN45K
  9. mychellec, me too i use the freezer ziplock bag but my arms get sore holding it so long. then I have to keep slammin it down every couple ounces too... It takes two hands to squeeze the bag so the cup is a great help..
  10. oh interesting nursenancy, not sure if my face scrub will suck into that thing but it looks like it is worth a try..my malibu holds bout 7 oz of product so not sure what 60 cc is but I will look it up.
  11. I read some where that it was difficult to keep a hold of the malibu tubes to fill... I just put mine in a plastic cup or coffee mug, and it holds the tube while I fill it...I can fit two tubes in at at time. Now if I could only find a better way to get the product in the tube without having to slam it down a millions times to get my face scrub packed in there.
  12. Strapping tape over the label may work. I actually have to use strapping or packaging tape over my weatherproof labels because the scrub oils smears the inkjet ink.
  13. luminous , do you not sell candles either? Here are obi imports link http://www.obiwholesale.com/catalogsample/candle-warmers-c-1490.html?page=1&sort=2a ...they are the same as JD wholesale...I am waiting on my wholesale application at obi to be approved then I can compare pricing.
  14. couple questions...I am in the process of getting insurance for my soap candle busi...what do you mean you insurance wont allow you to sell warmers. Also has anyone tried the obi imports plug ins , wondering on scent throw with these. My thought here is that an electric warmer would be the best for scent throw...I have never tried one though
  15. I have chosen the Nature's Garden natural cocoa butter soap base after sampling many other natural bases from other suppliers that seem to be to harsh for my skin. I have Ng's goats milk, yogurt as well and are all wonderful. no burning feeling after use and nice creamy lather. Good luck. Waiitng to hear your results
  16. I use shredded soap in my body scrub recipe. I add the shreds to hot oils then blend all in the blender...My soap for my body scrub is made a bit softer (40 on soap calc )so it will blend well. You may want to heat it with a pinch of water to moisten before you add it to you scrub ingredients. Do a small batch to test first. You are making scrub cubes and the soap is what kinda molds the cube so it needs to be a bit moist or I don't think it will stick together with the other ingredients. I do use a natural m&p soap for sugar cubes cause you need it to mold...I have not tried using my cphp for this. If I did I would use it fresh out of the oven so it would be pliable already then add oils to it let it cool a bit then add sugar. i am not sure if this would even work...Just throwing ideas out there.
  17. Maybe you could call them and see if they can get you a smaller one? I have had one of my supplies mention if I needed a different size they would get it...It's worth a try How squeezable is pvc?? I was thinking for a facial scrub but it is thick and would need to be soft squeezable
  18. Do tell , I have never seen an amber malibu. Where?
  19. I make soy candles and only use one size 8 oz mason jar, so only one wick is needed for me. I was using wide mouth jars that drove me crazy wicking so i changed the size and my customer are very happy for the smaller candles so they can buy more scents at a time My customers also said that they dont want a candle with two wicks...Good thing I worked that out.
  20. I personally use green chia tea ,two tea bags in 3lbs of soap as an exfoliant and it is very exfoliating. pumice powder is the softest exfoliant in my opinion but I believe it is used the most in gardeners soap. . I have never uses luffa but I think it is more expensive.
  21. why thank you, the nine tile pic is almost finished now, Ill post a new pic of it when it is done in a new post so you can see how it turned out ...the finish looks neater and it will be mounted as well. Yes my kitty's are sweet thank you.
  22. It is a long process ...Not sure if I am willing to share it at this point as I am selling these...but I may do a tutorial for purchase if you are interested....Sorry bout that but this process I use is something I came up with after a million trial and error processes I used through online research.. But this process I came up with seems to be the only way for me that I can get good results every time. .
  23. I wonder if maybe that is transferring a photo to something. you have to make sure the photo is printed with toner not an inkjet printer to do this. You would decopage your surface then the front of the pic and ad here it to the surface(could be wood, tile) face down then let it set overnight then rub gently with water to remove the back paper and the photo should be left on the surface that you have glued/decopaged it to. then seal it with a waterproof sealer... kinda a rustic look when its done but is cool. I also do another type with decopage ...this is not finished yet but is almost there pic below
  24. luminousBoutique...I have since decided that very thing. I found a nice liquid soap recipe and I am going to make it tomorrow. I did look at the tutorial on this site and it is all coming back to me now so I feel confident. I have a recipe with castor, sunflower and coconut oil in it, hope it turns out nice at least for a body wash or a hand soap...
  25. Yes I have made liquid soap before but I thought why not give this a go... I too have also tried the bar method and gotten glop so I was wondering if this recipe would be like that ...it seemed like a small recipe so i gave it a try, but so far my results are not good.
