  2. I met a woman that i gave my business card to that asked me if i made sulfur soap , she uses it for a skin condition she has that causes her to have dark blotchy skin and claims it is all she can use that clears it up. but she can't find it anywhere but mom and pop type stores \...so i did some research and purchased some sulfur from a soap supplies website i make two types of soap M&P goatsmilk and hp olive oil soap Can i incorporate sulfur in one of these at I belive it is 10 % ?
  3. Has anyone ever made or used sulfur soap this is the info I found on it The idea of using sulfur as a treatment for skin problems is not a new one. Sulfur has been used to treat skin conditions for more than two centuries. Skin conditions that have responded to sulfur treatments include eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections and scabies. Just wondering if this is easy to make..
  4. Any one else and any opinions Please?
  5. I have a sprayer bottle mixed with bleach and water I wear a mask and those thin cloves for lotion making. I get them at dollar store. I use clean utensils etc. from the dishwasher but spray bleach them before hand and keep them sitting on a clean papertowel, I have my workroom in my basement and I used Craigs list to find Microwave $35.00 stove/oven $40.00 portable dishwasher $50.00 or close can't remember exactly. this rolls around ( hooks up to laundry tub) and has a nice top that I can use as a counter as well.
  6. Oh my I hav only used lotion bars and I believe it is the natural butters and oils that give off the odor Maybe if you use deodorized refined shea if there is such a thing ok just found shea ultra refined and deodorized with natural clays at WSP. also have you considered using a more creamer scent like vanilla, almond...that may hide the oil scents better as for the lemon scent... maybe if you move the bars not scented with lemon to another room and come back and smell them... That's the best I can do
  7. Are you selling or is it for personal use? Lotion has to go thu testing at a lab if you plan to sell it so that may be something to consider For Lotion making I use two glass bowls and a wire wisk and lotion bottles , I also keep a bottle of bleach cleaner handy when making lotion and gloves Cleanliness is very important when making lotion. I am not sure what you mean by melting scrubs but I make an emulsified scrub that I have never noticed melting in the 5 years that I have been making it. A scrub can be very simple ...oil and sugar... or complicated oils , sugar, emulsifier etc... Good scale
  8. I would suggest Jojoba oil straight You can wet your face with water and add a drop of jojoba oil and message it in,,that is all there is to it I make my husband a simple jojoba lotion. I am sure it is not stingy and he uses it after shaving every morning His lotion is jojoba oil, water, vegetable emulsifier and vegetable stearic. He has been using it for years now and I also use it on my legs in the summer after shaving...no stinging Jojoba Oil Jojoba oil is really a wax ester extracted from the ground or crushed seeds of the jojoba plant. The structure of the oil resembles the skin's natural oil, sebum. It is used both as an herbal supplement and in a variety of skin and body care products. It is used for rosacea because of its emollient properties, its non-irritating effects and because it reduces trans-epidermal water loss, thereby helping to keep your skin moist. http://www.livestrong.com/article/89763-essential-oils-rosacea/
  9. For my bath and body making I have a few sizes of pyrex measuring cups, glass bowls, spatula and good quality plastic measuring spoons and stainless steel ones. ( important if measuring fragrance ) some dollarstore stuff will not hold up with fracrance oils in my experience Pipettes for measuring drops of fo & eo's I also use ziplock freezer bags for getting my lotions and face scrubs into malibu bottles that I sit into a tumbler to hold it for me as i pipe it in I'll list what i use Glass bowls pyrex measuring cups good measuring spoons ziplocks spatula Nice one pipettes Blender,,,I use for emulsified scrubs Milk bath.... I mix in large zip lock . microwave containers for you new products Basically I use most of what I had in my house already and just had to buy ingredients Hope this is helpful You should maybe start with one at a time so as to not get overwhelmed.

  16. I have had a chance to talk to a soap and candle estore owner that has been doing business for 6 years and he uses one flat rate for all orders and says he went thru alot to get to this point and this is what works best for him. Thanks all for your help.
  17. Thanks, now for my next question When you pick shipping options to set up shipping in paypal , what does the customer see and how do you do all those figures or do you keep it simple and use one standard shipping price for them? for the moment... till I figure all this out, I have one standard rate and an option for store pick up for local customers
  18. Does anyone do this ...print shipping labels from paypal as mentioned on thier site or do you go thru usps/ups and calculate each one I just started integrating paypal to my site and am unclear about a few things. I did manage to set shipping at one rate and no shipping for local pick up customers. so wondering how printing shipping labels from paypal works if using usps flat rate boxes
  19. weighing products now...candle weighs 14 oz so i figure 1 lb per candle Soap let say 6 bars weighs 1lb 8.oz so that small flat rate box will work for that but wont fit a candle so I guess we hope customers order more than one candle cause it has to go in medium flat rate at 10.50 shipping cost ( this fits up to 12 of my candles.) so figuring by lbs is tough cause 1 lb soap small flat rate box $ 5.20 1 lb candle med flat rate box $ 10.50
  20. weighing products now...candle weighs 14 oz so i figure 1 lb per candle Soap let say 6 bars weighs 1lb 8.oz so that small flat rate box will work for that but wont fit a candle so I guess we hope customers order more than one candle cause it has to go in medium flat rate at 10.50 shipping cost ( this fits up to 12 of my candles.) so figuring by lbs is tough cause 1 lb soap small flat rate box $ 5.20 1 lb candle med flat rate box $ 10.50 Then we have coasters that weigh 2.5 lbs that fit sm flat rate $5.20 Am I over thinking this or missing something?
  21. I am with weebly and no shipping there unless u use paypal or google checkout so i assume i have to set up but i am still puzzled as to how to charge for shipping as far a poundage goes. you set up like this .01-5 lbs (you choose these lbs) the enter $ amount 6.00 or whatever 5-10lbs $7.00 ?? not really clear on how to do this cause packages may be smaller and weigh more and then a larger item may weigh less and shipping is more so ...It is really not a poundage thing cause each package is going to be packaged in different size boxes and different weights I went to a handmade soap and candle website and asked some questions on how they handle shipping and they told me they charge 6.95 shipping on all orders no matter what it is. how can this work when shipping can be 10-12 dollars for a medium flat rate box? NT...thanks soo much i did get all the scents in there for my candles...wohoo!!
  22. Naturally Tru Do I need to type it in like that... html? on the store sight where I am in editing site? well I got that scent issue done...thanks for the help NT. I did see a place to put in how much product weighs in the sec where you add button...I must have been overworked yesterday I'll see if all is working.
  23. I just went to your website ...very nice So you have customer buy items then send them another invoice to pay for shipping? Also I noticed your drop down menu for the 12 oz hurricane has more than 10 scents...I cant get that many in mine so i added two other drop down menus to the candles...How did you do this and do you have website payments standard thru paypal?
  24. So then customers have to pay twice and how do they send you payment for shipping? i just did a trial with the shipping and entered some numbers and went to sight to do a mock buy & cart had a box to key in zip code? but no shipping came up 0.00 I also added a store pick up option for my local customers...no such option showed up in cart
