  1. Whoo Hoo! I can't wait to see the pics!! :highfive:
  2. I'm currently holding sign ups for the "Newly Addicated to Soap Class".. I offer several different tutorials... such as: 1) How to get the hubby to wash the dishes so you can use the counter space 2) How to get the kids to pick up their toys so you don't trip while moving molds 3) How to get the hubby to watch cartoons with the children so that you don't get nervous and spill my soap mixtures I'm thinking of charging $19.99 per person. That should cover a good bit of supplies for me to have more classes Any takers??
  3. Speaking of morphing.... I just made a batch yesterday and poured in an entire little bottle of M&P blue. I have a beautiful light pink batch with a purple streak down the center. I'm thinking it may end up neon orange but the time it's done changing colors!!
  4. Carol.. I'm so proud of you!!!! Those are awesome!! Oh.. and if you need a tester.. you have my addy
  5. I found my first bottle of it at the pharmacy up the street. I paid almost $10 for the 4oz container. My second bottles came from a health food store in Ohio - 40 min drive each way and paid $3.99 for each 4oz container. THEN - I got to thinking about the bottle and looked at the manufactuer. (Now Foods) I went to their website (www.nowfoods.com) and looked for a dealer located near me. Turns out you can order it in bigger bunches. Either the stores can order them in for you, or you can have it delivered straight to you. Turns out they also have Shea Butter in 5lb pails, and of course most of the oils, etc. Check 'em out and see what you think.
  6. I can't wait to see how things turned out. Don't forget to post pics!
  7. Question - please don't laugh, I honestly don't know. I have some colors from Hobby Lobby that I bought for my M&P soaps. Can this liquid color be used in CP soaping too? I am going to make a second batch tonight and would love to color it but don't have anything else, so I thought'd I ask. TIA
  8. Thanks guys! I'm so very proud of them!! I made the scalloped edges with an old biscuit cutter - believe it or not. I didn't like the edges with the air holes, so I thought I would make them decorative. And yes, I'm ready for my next batch... Gonna go see what oils I have hanging around in the kitchen. I'd love to do a goats milk one.. but I can't quite figure that one out. Not sure when to put in the milk etc. Will have to work on that one.
  9. I realize it isn't much to sneeze at... BUT.. It is my first cp soap!! I poured it a bit to thick so it was full of holes at the edges so I cut it down to look pretty. I'm so proud
  10. Diggin! I'm off to a CC race this morning, but as soon as I get back, I'm gonna unroll that sucker and see how it looks! :D
  11. I would of paid big bucks to watch that go down in person!
  12. Lol! Good thing I work from home huh? I can see it now.. Web design 1/2 time.. Soaper 1/2 time!! I sprayed the inside of the can with Pam. I do not intend to keep the can (I have three daughters that eat us out of house and home) so I can get some more cans if it works well, I'm going to use a can opener to bust open the bottom of the can with it. So.. question.. the gel thing.. that is supposed to happen right?? If not, humor me.
  13. Hey Carol. Yep, just learned the lesson of overflow, it was huge when I went back into the kitchen. I scooped some out and put it in the other mold. Not sure if that was the thing to do or not. Next time I won't let it get so thick, I'm pretty darn sure there are bubbles in there!! Yeah, the pan has to go, I didn't realize it was a no-no. Will have to change it out as soon as I get this posted. It is the recipe I posted the other day, I tried a little green coloring, but it disappeared compeltely. Must not of put enough in. No big though, my first attempt. It is scented Vanilla/Apple. Thought I'd try something off the wall for my first one Question, I have a bit of liquid (oil) coming out of the bottom of the can. Is that ok?
  14. Hi all. (I've posted this at soapdish too.) I think I just finished my first real soap!! I'm concerned that I might of mixed it to long and poured to late. It's pretty creamy. I have used a pringles can, since I didn't have enough material to line my wood mold. Do you mind looking at the pic to tell me if this looks right or not? I took the pic 5 mins after pouring it. I would appreciate some feedback. TIA!!
  15. Hey Guppy.. evidently we dont' live to far from each other.. I live in Dry Ridge - about 40 mins south of Cincy!! I just saw this post tonight and couldn't send you a PM (I'm still to new) so I thought I'd throw you a line this way. Also, next time you go to JJ - let me know! I wanna go!! FM
  16. Hey there Beth. If Kymber isn't interested, I sure am!
  17. Beautiful! The first pic didn't come up - but the second pic did. I love the first soap in the second pic! Very nice job!
  18. Thanks Eugenia. I appreciate you reworking it for me. Is there a list somewhere that will tell me what the different numbers mean? (Sorry if this is a redundant request.)
  19. Ok.. you're making me feel really confident if you are wanting to try my first concoction!
  20. Thanks Carol! I'm so excited to try it. Wonder why my numbers came out different? Perhaps I was reading the wrong area on my program. I tried to go to www.soapmaker.com (guessing that is what you used??) and the site is down. Hmmm... Ginger
  21. Hey everyone. I'm finally ready for my first batch. Gonna make it tomorrow (if this recipe looks ok.) I don't have much on hand by way of ingredients, but I put in what I had in the soapcalc and this is what it came up with: Hardness: 32 Cleansing: 17 Conditioning: 63 Lather: 17 creamy lath: 15 Iodine: 83 INS: 132 I am still learning what those numbers mean (I guess what I really need is a scale so I know what needs to be where), so don't laugh if it is completely off. I seriously need to do some shopping, but this is what I have (that I put in the calculator.) Coconut (76 deg, solid) 25% Crisco 25% Olive 25% Safflower Oil 25% Yes, I know it lacks imagination, but like I said, it's my first batch and I really need to understand why if the numbers are not good. Thanks in advance for the help - and not laughing Ginger FM
  22. On a bunch of those - espically the ones where you design it yourself, if you'll flip the design over, you can select their print and delete it. I had cards made for my web design business and removed their little diddy on the back.
  23. I'd color the palm tree and put a little sand around the bottom of the name.
