  1. Hi there. Can you guys tell me how I can get a list of craft shows and fairs that are around my area? I'm new to this and have no idea where to begin. Thanks all! Funky Monkey
  2. I think the phrasing we're looking for is... "If you dont have something nice to say... say nothing at all" .. no need to post nasty comments sheesh, we're all adults. I do however have to ask about the "WHAT??" comment on asking God where you should be. I totally agree she should ask. If she is a Christian - that should be her first direction. Clearly the initial comment came from a Christian - and it is our job as Christians to try to help point someone in the same direction. Now.. with that said.. please don't flame me for the religious remark. I'm a Christian and I'm proud of it, you won't change my mind.
  3. I just wanted to add a "Thank you" for posting this question and a super big "Thank you" to those of you who took the time to answer it. I am new to all of this and the information listed here has been immensly helpful to me. I am not near ready to open a store, but it is great to have this information in the back of my head. I'm trying to plan for the now and the future and it's only with the helpful posts like this that I am able to do that. Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. Us newbies can gleam a ton of important information from you. :highfive: Ginger FUNKY MONKEY
  4. Thanks Carlena. I appreciate the answer. This was my frist thought this morning when I woke up. I guess that means I am officially "ate up" now with soaping...
  5. Hi guys. I have a question. When you transport your B&B stuff to craft shows, how do you keep your soap scents from mingleing and transforming each other? The jars and stuff are closed, I get that, but cigar wrapped soaps, how do that happen? Thanks! FUNKY MONKEY
  6. This was a very helpful post! Thank you so much for taking the time. Us "new" soapers can really benefit by seeing the step by steps!! Again - thanks. I'm going to enjoy making soap! Ginger FUNKY MONKEY
  7. Thank you very much ladies!! I appreciate the help. I'm off to purchase some lye!
  8. I'm really new to the forum - and soap making. I'm not sure how to access and search the archives, but I'll try it! Thanks.
  9. Ok... I've spent all morning making calls - about 70 in fact, trying to find lye. It is apparent to me that I'm not going to be able to get it local. The small store down the street says that lye is a component in making meth (oh my) and they can't carry it anymore. SO! the internet is going to be my only option. Anyone have an suggestions/recommendations on where I can purchase it online?
  10. We dont have Do It Best stores here.. but I think Ace Hardware just MIGHT carry it. I'm going to call in the morning. Thanks for the reply. I also looked in the classifieds, but there haven't been any post in the last 30 days? I say I'm going to give up, but that's just frustration talking. I'm really excited about this soaping and can't wait to get the kids in school (next week) so that I can cover my tables with materials during the day. I'm afraid to get to much out while they are home (8,6 and 4 in age.) Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I will check out the local (30 mins north) home improvement stores for the supplies. Thanks! FM
  11. I cannot.. for the life of me.. find lye locally. I've tried Wal-mart, aren't they supposed to carry EVERYTHING? They said they haven't carried it in years. I also cannot find citrus acid. I'm wondering if this is something I shouldn't be doing since I can't find the materials. I live in Northern Kentucky - anybody got any ideas? Going to try Meijer (grocery store) and Hobby Lobby tomorrow.
  12. Hi there. I'm new so I can't PM just yet... but here is the information I was going to send to you anyway I use Dreamweaver. It is awesome - it is not only a WYSIWYG (What you see if what you get) it also has the ability to split to code (if you know code or if someone is helping you that knows code.) It is pretty awesome. I am a professional website designer and own my own company, and it is what I use to create my client sites. There are some tutorial books out there, but it really is easy to just jump right in and start designing. I would be willing to give you some pointers and help if you need it (Free of course! Hope this information helps. BTW, Dreamweaver is made by Macromedia and you can get a copy of it off eBay pretty cheaply. THanks! Funky Monkey
  13. "If you want the info, PM me and I can get you the link to their site." Hey Sundries... I tried to PM you.. but apparently I cannot do that yet ?? Would you mind emailing the information? Thanks!! Ginger FUNKY MONKEY
  14. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try the lye tomorrow - wish me luck!
  15. Just beautiful! I can't wait to see what they look like cut! I'd love to smell them too!
  16. I am SO naturally blonde.. just posted this request.. went to the main page and SAW THE ACRONYM POST! Forgive me.. I've been elbow deep in soap and I think the scent combo's have messed with my brain function!
  17. I'm new to the soap making arena. Would someone be interested in putting together a list of common acronyms used on this forum? I think it would be very helpful to me and other newbies Thanks a ton! Funky Monkey
  18. Hi there. I know this is an older post - but I have a comment about it. I am a professional website designer, and new soaper. I live in a small country town where some of the local businesses that are on the web have chosen free websites. The problem with free websites is that there is not a direct link to get to your information - (ex: say your company was named "Happy World" - a free site would be: www.fuse.happyworld.com - not very pleasant for the consumer trying to find you. You can get a good designer to get you a professional site up for about $200 - and a recurring $60 or so a year. This is not an advertisement for my company, my suggestion would be to check your local schools for kids that are really talented in the web design department. You'd be suprised what they can do!
  19. Thanks guys! I am really interested in trying the lye - but cannot find it in my area (Northern Kentucky.) I am still looking - hopefully I'll find some soon. I don't really want to order online - for some reason it seems easier for me to buy it locally and if it doesn't work, that's ok. If I pay for shipping and it doesn't work - then that is a different story! Yeah - I know, that doesn't make much sense! Anyway, do you guys know if regular food coloring will work in soap making? Thanks! Ginger aka Funky Monkey
  20. Tell me what you think. They are all mp - I haven't tried the cp yet. I think I may have to much color in the massage ones. The purples are scented vanilla and were meant to be a swirl. The second is a olive soap with loofa sponges, clear olive - unscented and then unscented chunk soap (this was a ton of fun to make!) The front ones (massage ones) are all vanilla except the transparent green one which is scented apple. Anyway, let me know what you think. I'm still wondering if they will harden up - does m&p soap harden? Thanks! Funky Monkey http://www.justicewebdesign.com/soap.html (Sorry for the link - not sure how to do this yet from this forum)
