  1. I've been seeing people post about insurance and was wondering if there were any way to get out of paying for insurance. This is my idea. I might have a lawyer draw up some kind of paperwork that says the party that is buying the candle waives the right to sue me if they do something stupid with my candles or something like that. How do you guys think that sounds? Would you still buy from me? I need some input here. Thanks.
  2. Hi all! I just had to share with you...Yesterday I was getting my hair done and I had given one of my candles to my hairdresser. She told me that my candles ROCK!! She said she'd never had a candle smell so great even after it had burned a while. Needless to say my head swelled! LOL Thanks for listening!
  3. Bitter Creek North sells a coffee color in liquid form and depending on how much you use it gives a great caramel color.
  4. Do you have to have insurance if you're just doing craft fairs?
  5. I broke down and bought one of these things too. The MP is ok but what bugs me is the crackle sound. It just annoys the hell out of me. LOL Also, I like the jar but mine is all black from the soot. I wouldn't waste my money on these things again!
  6. I would say that it needs to cure at least for a day before you test burn it.
  7. I wouldn't see why not. You'd have to ask them.
  8. The link is on the top right hand corner before you get into a thread. Goodluck. Thanks all for your replies.
  9. Let me tell you-candle making is difficult enough without trying to make your own custom blend. If I were you I'd stick with the blends that are already out there. Don't feel like it's cheating, it's there to make our jobs easier. What you really need to concentrate on is the wicks-some fo's are harder to wick than others. You need to get a starter kit of wicks. Get a few of them all and try different wicks in your candles and keep testing. When you've found what works you'll do great. I like IGI 4630 container wax. It's great to work with and so smooth and creamy looking after you get done pouring and the scent throw is real good hot and cold. I like Bitter Creek North for scents and Aztec Intl for scents too. Goodluck and if I can be of anymore help just let me know.
  10. You add vybar to them to get them to throw a good scent-that's what I did to mine and they smell great and have lasted a good while. You could propbably melt them in that thing but most people melt them on a tart melter and they use a tealight candle underneath to heat it. Goodluck!
  11. I would say that people who are going to yard sales are looking for a bargain and if your prices are above $5 a piece that's not a bargain to them. At least in my experience. Those kind of people are looking for $.25 items and stuff like that.
  12. I'm with you. Get some fall, winter, spring and summer scents and add a couple to that. I would only offer those scents at that time of the year along with a few extras because face it, people don't really want peppermint or pine in the summertime unless they really really like those scents. That is what I'm going to do. Fall-pumpkin spice, hot apple pie, mulled cider etc Winter-pine, peppermint, mulled cider etc Spring-MacIntosh apple, blackberry sage, honeysuckle etc Summer-Honeydew, peach, blueberry etc. Goodluck!!
  13. I like the jar also-with or without the lid. Personally when I buy a candle I could care less if it has a lid because I'm just going to take it off and not lid it ever again. Goodluck.
  14. Hmmm...It sounds like you've done your job and told her what was in it before she used it and tol dher to test it. It's not your fault she didn't test it. It also sounds like you're being more than generous about this whole ordeal. I would stick with just the credit because it cost you to ship it didn't it? If she's still unhappy well you can please some people some of the time, others you can't please anytime. Goodluck!
  15. Congrats! I'm so happy for you!!! Nayarx8-You shouldn't be afraid. Just think if you don't do a show-you won't sell anything! LOL You should go for it. I did my first show this year and only sold 3 candles and some tarts but I'm not discouraged. I sold alot of my flower arrangements though. I say go for it!!
  16. I love every single thing about those candles! Great job!!
  17. I agree with Jordan. I bought one on vacation and am actually burning it now and the glass is all black because of so much soot.
  18. I throw my hard wax against the floor. Not the best method but boy does it make you feel better when you're having a rotten day! LOL:D
