  1. Don't give up - Your breakthrough will come! - and you will be one of the top candlers in all of Europe with so many sales you'll have to hire some help. :smiley2:
  2. If I were living in *Southern Arkansas* - *where countrycandles lives*, I would consider canjuncandle, in La. or Alabaster, in Al. or one of the many suppliers in Texas. Here is a list of suppliers by state: some suppliers are not on this list but many are: http://www.candleandsoapstuff.com/Suppliers_by_State.html PS. I like Candle Science, also, not only are they one of the closest to me (Columbia), they have: good prices - good products - great service and very fast affordable shipping. :smiley2:
  3. Lot's of info on this page slyfoxy. I have found much of the info to be helpful. :smiley2: http://www.candletech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=26
  4. First of all it would depend on where you live - if you live close enough to pick up from a supplier or if you will need to have it shipped to you. Generally speaking the further it has to be shipped the more the shiiping costs will factor in to your overall cost of the wax. Without knowing what general area you live in, it's very difficult for anyone to help with an answer to your question.
  5. A life sized gator coffee table - wow - that's gotta be way cool
  6. That is a very cool candle - beautiful and looks perfect in your home. :smiley2: How wide across is it at the top. It looks pretty big.
  7. I suspect this to be a smaller company - mom and pop type - but they do carry/list palm wax and they are on east coast = Georgia. I don't know about their shiping either but you can email them and maybe find out more. http://www.keeferskandlesandsupplies.com/Products/wax.htm
  8. Here's one in Pennsylvania - don't know if they ship overseas. http://www.candlewic.com/candle-wax/default.asp
  9. one eco 14 should handle the 16 ounce....if not, remind me not to buy either the ezsoy :smiley2: or whatever fo it is. j/k.....wicking can really be a pain sometimes...keep at it...you'll get it. With the 4 inch diameter 24 ounce you might want to try triple wicking. At any rate, best of luck to you. The process can be very tedious but worth it in the end.
  10. Depending on where you are from, shipping costs are to be considered (although a wick kit isn't heavy so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference) but if you live on the west side of the country you could try Peak's or if you live on the east side of the country: candlescience.com is a good company, unfortunately they are currently, *temorarily out of stock* on the LX wick kit. I have orderd from both suppliers and both are excellent to work with and both have good prices..IMO. Hope this helps.
  11. What a great story and many, many congrats to you for winning with your top of the line candles. You might want to take your son out for a steak dinner. :smiley2:
  12. Never made a tart, (yet) but was eyeballing one of those mini-muffin pans at wally world a few weeks ago, seems like it would work pretty well and might be very cost effective.
  13. Never have ordered from them but thanks for sharing the link. I like the fireplace votive holder near the bottom of the product page. :smiley2:
  14. Wow, that is pretty cool and with a surprise yellow stripe as well. Wonder what produced it? Whatever caused it, it looks good.:smiley2:
  15. Like it too. Very good - my eyes are fuzzy and I can still read it. :smiley2: It also has a touch of class.
  16. Super looking candles. Both are absolutely top notch. Love the snowflake look on the mottled one.
  17. Looks very good - love the marbled look and yours is great. - Cracked one in half with a wick pin...lol...that sounds like something I'd do.
  18. Maybe as fuel costs continue to rise, people may stay at home more and burn more candles.(increasing the demand for candles) I don't sell my candles but for those of you who do, maybe the demand will increase enough to help balance the cost increase somewhat. Just a thought.
  19. I just want to thank you top for posting these burn pic's and sharing some of your knowledge and experience. I have come back to these pics many times and tried to think about what I see. When I first started test burning my pillars (which was about what, a couple of weeks ago...lol..) I kept uping my wick sizes in an effort to get rid of mushrooms. (even though I have read on some suppliers websites to wick down, I didn't really understand why) I would try wicking down and would very often still get the mushroom. However, the more I look and think about what is happening with wicks and flames, I think that I may be getting more of an understanding of what is really happening. It would seem that the bigger the wick, the more wax it pulls into it. I think that mushrooming must in some form be unburned whatever - be it fo - oils, dyes etc. that the flame may not be hot enough to consume so it becomes a deposit on the wick. At any rate I had some larger LX's that were mushrooming in some of my pillars and after seeing your pics, I tried an LX 21 in one of my recent pillars and it's not m/rooming on 3 - 4 hour burns. There must be a fine line or a least a line where the flame is hot enough to consume all that the wick is drawing up from the candle, yet the wick is not so large that it's drawing too much up from the candle. So, it not only needs to be the correct size wick but also the correct type wick for the wax, in order to hit that balance where the candle burns correctly. Maybe a better way to put into words is that you've got me thinking about the draw, so I'm beginning to think in terms of the rate the wick draws from the candle as well as the heat of the flame. Anyway, thanks again for this thread and helping me see what can be done and for giving some real good visuals for learning more about candle making. :smiley2: Rambled again didn't I.....Oh well...
  20. Those candles look reeeal good, fuzzy pics or not. Really like the square one.
  21. Way to go waxing moon, (luv the name btw) I think they are all great - I'm partial to the pillar on the left with the racing stripe and the jar (purple - rear center) with the cross marks all over it. Very nice work, keep it up.
  22. Ya'll done good. I love to see hard/smart work pay off.
  23. Ah..very good...thanks...let's make some more candles
  24. I'm pretty sure that they are made of wax also.
