  1. Nice looking candles and I like that you dare to be different with many shapes. Summer doldrums will be over a in couple of months. Hope you were able to turn enough to make this one worthwhile.
  2. Haven't tried double wicking them yet, but may. I was wicking pretty large with singles in these jars with same wax and not happy with results. (too much smoke, etc) So, I cut some pure soy in with this wax at 50/50 and am still testing. (it sure has helped with the soot so far)
  3. Hi Candlemom26, Just saying hello and say hello to DH for me too. I was an owner/operator from 1991 - 2000, about ten years. (now disabled) Tell DH that when I start to miss trucking that I just put on a pair of dirty underwear, take all the money out of my wallet cept for about 2 dollars, and wait til I feel like I gotta pee real bad and I feel just like I'm back in my big rig. My CB handle was, "plumlazy". I'm quite sure that you have a full time job caring for those two little ones. I don't know how you do it and make candles, too. Anyway good luck in you candle making ventures and welcome to candletech. Best Regards
  4. Ten sizes with a sample pack of 5 per size. http://www.peakcandle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PCMS&Category_Code=WICKS
  5. LOL....thanks for the laugh, kind of needed one. (edit after looking) Ah man, laughing again, didn't think it was really on there.
  6. Welcome to the forums. There are others from NY. However, your price competition is from China...lol...beat the socks off of them with quality and you will likely do well.
  7. You don't have to install a faucet to use it. However, you should use a thermometer with it. Don't rely on the dial settings for your wax temperature. Wal-mart has them for about 22 bux. (prices may vary a bit in different regions) http://www.candletech.com/budgetmelter/index.htm
  8. Welcome to the forums. I just poured two pillars with Lilac scent about 45 mins. ago. (also 4625 and 3 drops of purple) My wife was in another room and just a few seconds after I opened the scent bottle (hadn't poured any at this point) I heard her say, "something smells goooood!"....lol...
  9. Looking good! Casual candle burner X could've tied one on, slept it off, got up and had a hair of the dog, then noticed that he/she forgot to blow the candle out last night and with no real harm done. At least to the candle...lol..
  10. I just hope that she can save them with Scented's remedy. It looks like some layers have the bubbles and some don't.
  11. Seems like I have read that fingernailing has to do with UA.
  12. In her email to you she says, "I am not emailing you for sympathy" that could be taken as a threat but I don't take it as such. (yet) Because: she then says, "I just thought you might appreciate knowing what happened, as I imagine it will happen again to other customers of yours." While it is possible, I wouldn't automatically assume that this is someone who is after money. I think that in this particular case I would try to work with this lady. When she says, "causing damage that cannot be rectified" maybe she is saying that since according to their terms - it cannot be set right, then they don't expect it to be set right. Up to this point she hasn't asked for anything except for your comments. I believe that if I were going to "put the ball back in their court" (which I think is a good idea, btw) I would do so with kindness and warm courtesy for now. If in fact she is fishing, that will come out soon enough. So, when I responded to her I might use phrases like "you had this experience" rather than "my candle blew up". Also I agree with Bella Luna, especially the last paragraph.
  13. You really are making some beautiful candles with your palm wax. I can tell that you are enjoying working with it. When we were kids here in the south, we used to find these little funnel like holes in the ground, they would often be around barns and farm buildings. The sides of this downward sloping conelike hole would be of a loose sand consistentcy. At the bottom of the hole just under the dirt, was where the doodlebug was hanging out waiting for an ant or whatever that stepped into his trap to slide to the bottom. We as kids would take a small twig or a stiff blade of grass and knock a bit of the sand to the bottom to see if we could get the doodlebug to move. If he did, we would try to get him to latch on to it with his little pinchers. We used to have some kind of little rhyme, like a chant or song that we would say whilst we were messing with this poor creature.(we didn't have nintendo...lol.) For the life of me I can't remember how it went.....well, there's a whole lot that I can't remember these days. Anyway, funny thing that such a beautiful candle would make an old guy remember his childhood. Well, at least halfway remember it... Absolutely Gorgeous work there, bubblegum doodlebug.
  14. I wouldn't be concerned about the ladys ruining the local soy candle trade. You could always name your company, "My Soy Candles Smell". At any rate, I would think that if you focus on developing a high quality product, given a bit of time your candles will sell quite well.
  15. LOL - I have a patent pending on "Essence of Baby Poop" j/k Very nice looking candles - what did you decide to wick them with?
  16. Experimenting: cutting pure soy into J223 - for the purpose of reducing smoke/soot.
  17. Me too, the purple ones! All are great work and I want to make some like those one day. Keep making them and keep posting them. I love the beautiful rustics.
  18. I like them all a lot, but especially the octagon ones. Great work and very nice photo as well.
  19. I love wood too. Well done Mr. Eugenia, that took some planning and some time I'm sure, hats off to you.
  20. Remember to figure in the cost of shipping that you had to pay out as well.
  21. My guess is that you will find that 19/32 drill bit and tap at either a NAPA auto parts store or Sears. Also 1/4" may be too small and easier to clog. The 1/2" may require a 1/2 drill instead of a 3/8 unless you use a 1/2" spade bit - which is made for wood. A spade bit may cut the presto pot material just fine - however a spade bit may want to knock around a good bit more and could gouge the metal. But then that JB weld mentioned in the linked article is some pretty good stuff if you decide to go that route.
  22. That top layer on the 3 wick rectangular one looks similar to limestone. I also like them because they are look different from the norm. I haven't seen many of the 3 wick rectangles...It's pretty cool..
