  1. May I suggest you check out this site? http://www.wicksunlimited.com There is a ton of useful information there. Hope this helps.
  2. While I agree that it does take awhile for web sales to pick up, I must add that the best way to make sure search engines will pick up your site is to make sure you have plenty of keywords in your META tag line which should be the first thing after your <HEAD> and before the <BODY> tag of your page. IF you have designed the site yourself you will know where to do this, if you have someone else design it for you, make sure you mention this to them.
  3. There is a book called "Joy of Soy" available from your local craft stores. It doesn't have a lot of info but does have project ideas and some basic instruction. May or may not be what you're looking for.....just thought I'd toss my 2 cents in.
  4. We've been using them for a few years now, especially for our collectibles company...Cammie's Collectibles. Never had a problem with them, and always great prices on items we have in our online store. Cammie's Collectibles http://www.cammiescollectibles.com Creekside Candles & Collectibles http://www.creeksidecandlesonline.com
  5. We use them all the time...usually order 1/2 pallets...never had a problem at all. Call them and ask for Paula....she'll treat ya right.
  6. 200 votives for an upcoming wedding, plus 6 cases of 16oz. containers for one of our reps.
  7. I know my reply doesn't answer you question directly, but it should be noted that even in the FREE Paypal account, customers no longer have to sign up for a pay pal account in order to pay with credit cards.
  8. First off, we have never been on the receiving end of these whackos either, and we do quite well.......however, if ANYONE ever went on another board and tried anything to ruin my business...the first call I'd make would be to my lawyer to see about suing these ppl for defamation of character. As long as you stick to your guns regarding policies and such...you'll have no problem. You can usually tell when someone is looking for a freebie...the right thing for the customer to do would allow YOU to make ammends first...not be demanding and outright rude from the get-go. Of course, if this was only a perfect world............................
  9. Go to you local Azda (sp?) store if you have any local ones. Azda in the UK is owned and operated by Wal-Mart.
  10. Well, we live in PA, and C&S charges us reasonably well, but understandably because they are in PA too. When we order from Ohio or any other state for that matter, shipping charges are always high..IMHO. I realize the product cost may only be $66....but it also depends on what delivery service is selected. IMHO shipping charges are an outrageous amount wherever you live.
  11. Sorry....my boo boo...I misread the 3.125% as being actual ounces and not as a %. Sorry....too early in the morning for me.....where's my java???
  12. Why not design your own using Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop??
  13. After further checking with my 3 local Hallmark stores, I did find that the regular price for Yank** tarts is indeed $1.79, and that the $1.40 I previously quoted was a sale price. My apologies to other members for any confusion. However, my point still remains that we price our products to reflect the economy of our area. I lived in Canada for 42 years, (having moved to PA to marry my wife whom is 20 years my junior), however, because of exchange rates there etc. it is not uncommon to see Yank** tarts sell there for $2.25 or more. JMHO.
  14. Just a note.....we all price our products to hopefully make a profit. We also judge what other similar products in our area costs as well. BRUCE mentioned Yank** tarts sell for $1.79 in his area...well in my area they are only $1.40 at a local Hallmark store.....we sell ours for 2/$1.25. At $.67.5 cents per we are still making a profit. Wax at $1.10/lb /16 = .068 When I factor in FO and packaging ($.02 per bag), my cost doesn't come anywhere near $.33 per. As far as another member posted regarding sales tax license and business license being accounted for....our sales tax license here in PA is free.....our business license is $35. We made that back in the first order we ever sold. Not trying to rub anybody here the wrong way...just adding my $.02 cents worth. My whole point here is, we all live in different areas of the country, and our pricing usually reflects that. I lived in Canada for 42 years...trust me...pricing is very important, but we must remember the economy of the area we live in as well.
  15. TRy CSP-1 from Candlewic for both our votives and tarts. RRD-29's are the wick we choose to use. CSP-1's firmness is especially great with our tarts as we can use as much as 10% FO load...the throw is fantastic.
  16. Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop are the ones we use the most for our web design graphics....and our photo manipulations.
  17. As the tax exemption form clearly states, tax exemption is not valid for sales. Only if you purchase raw materials for resale purposes would you be tax exempt............which means...buy a case of jars and sell the same case to another customer.......call me an idiot but after being in business for about 30 years and having a minor degree in accounting, I think I'm reading this right.???? http://www.revenue.state.pa.us/revenue/lib/revenue/rev-1220.pdf
  18. The Joy of Soy Candles is a book available at Michaels. It explains how to make several soy candle projects. There are quite a few others as well....just search at Amazon for them.
  19. We use CSP-1 for our votives. Never have to top off. We always pour until it overflows the mold itself. Finishes real nice too. Just my $.02 cents worth.
  20. TopofMurrayHill posted a great site link about wicks. IMHO it should be recommended reading for all newbie AND seasoned candle makers alike. Tons of info about wicks and their properties. Thanks Top! Wicks Unlimited http://www.wicksunlimited.com
  21. TopofMurrayHill posted in another area of this board about a great site on wicks. Tons of information for both newbies and seasoned candle makers alike. Should be considered recommended reading IMHO. Wicksunlimited http://www.wicksunlimited.com
