  1. Thanks for refreshing my memory about Wicksunlimited. It certainly was very imformative to us when we first started out. It should be recommended reading and will post a message for all our new candle makers. Thanks!
  2. For those of you ordering the EZ wick centering tool...the white plastic "cross"....they work great, but be warned that if you double wick, you will have to drill 2 additional holes for the two wicks. The ones we got from BCN came with only one hole. Just giving y'all a heads up.
  3. It's funny that your Home Depot didn't carry the 3/8" spigot and pipe? That's a common size. I found the parts I needed in the aisle where the toilet repair parts are found....not in the regular plumbing aisle. I realize this message might be a moot point.....just giving you a heads up. Hope I've helped?
  4. Check this out SilverMoon http://www.febreze.com/en_US/febreze/scent_stories.do
  5. Been there, still am at times...however we switched from Avery labels and went with Online Labels....their ad appears to the right of this page sometimes. All I can say is their labels line up much better than any Avery product, and much cheaper. Way cheaper! JMHO
  6. We use CSP-1 for our votives, pour at 150, and never need a repour. We love it. Just adding my 2 cents worth....
  7. Firstly...if you are using an oil diffuser...you are to put only 7-10 drops of oil and mix it with water....the FO will be dispersed into the air by the evaporation of the water from being heated from the tealight. Using straight oil could cause a fire....DPG is used as a diluter for incense sticks or diffusere reeds.
  8. Take whatever amount of wax you need....eg. 16 oz...multiply that by your FO load, and that will give you your total needed. 16oz 16 x 6% =.96 10oz 10 x 6% = .6 8oz 8 x 6% = .48 16oz 16 x 9% =1.44 10oz 10 x 9% =.9 8oz 8 x 9% =.72 okee dokee?
  9. We just remelt it and make votives or tarts for ourselves. Lots of odd colors when mixed together. When we are making votives for customers and we have any left over, we pour the excess into votive cups, and sell them as a "grab bag" item...surprise scents and colors....sell them cheap and they go fast...
  10. Thanks again for all your help people. Yes I found the drill bit, from a hobby shop, and I've managed to fit it all up, so far it's working fine. Kay.....the candlecauldron web site explains using the Lowe's spigot, which I can no longer get from my local Lowe's, and we have seven in the area!!! But thanks anyways.... Happy t-day to everyone.
  11. You're right Georgia....customers no longer require an actual Paypal account to use it, as per their terms and conditions which were revised earlier this year. We use Paypal on our site, which generates about 45% of our sales as well as using it for our collectibles company, and most of our online customers are not paypal account holders. Just adding my 2 cents worth.
  12. Thanks everyone....appreciate the help. Would you believe noone at Home Depot could tell me? Yikes.
  13. I need to make another presto pot for our increasing container pours. However, I went to Lowe's to find a spigot like I've used to make my other ones...but not to be found! I looked at the directions posted here for making a pot by using a tap and dye set....however the instructions are vague as to what size tap I should use for the 19/32" hole that is drilled for the spigot. Anyone have any ideas on the tap size, I'd really appreciate some help here before I have to resort to another method. TIA
  14. Our website generates about 45% of our sales, not including our collectibles company...for us, it is definatley worth the work in keeping it up to date, and it helps us get our name out there. We've done fundraisers 3 states over from us strictly from someone seeing our site. Good luck!
  15. Great site Grumpy Girl......good luck with it...
  16. Hey Malaki....we are in PA also. You can file online with E-tides....and they just changed the filing system too. If you will be filing sales tax less than $300 (I believe) a year, you only have to file semi annualy. I can check out the actual amount for you though. Message me if you need more help. Where in PA are you?
  17. We put the NET wieght of the candle....eg: 16oz. for a 16oz. candle....not the total wieght including the jar which would be the GROSS wieght. Hope this helps.
  18. I think I have an easier solution, and alot less work for you! If (for example) you want 6% of FO, and you are making 4 candles at 6.6 oz. each....just take 6.6 X 6% =.396 per candle...multiply that by 4 and you get 1.58 for all 4 candles. This will work so long as you are making 4 candles of the same FO of course, and you will need to change the % to suit your own needs...but the math is much simpler...IMHO.
  19. We use Photoshop and Front Page Express as well. Paint Shop Pro is good also....roughly $130 compared to the $1200 for Photoshop, but I use Photoshop for my photography manipulations as well. Just my opinion.
  20. We use Eco-soy Advanced as a base of our proprietary blend, but get nice smooth tops...still frosts to a point, but use frosted containers...so little frosting is actually seen by the customer. IMHO...just throwing my 2 cents in....we love working with soy.
  21. Try Staples...they have a wide range of scales there also. Postal scales usually, and they measure in both grams and ounces, and usually in increments of .01
  22. Container wax is too soft for tarts or votives. You need to use a PB blend like Eco-soys' or CSP-1 from Candlewic. Both are excellent. IMHO
