We have been making candles for a while now and specialize in pillars (mosaic and very rustic). The more rustic the better! Changing the world; one candle at a time

Not to keen about the pretty candle these days. They remind me of the thrown out, large company BS I have come to hate. Junk! The world has so much beauty that it sometimes seems to be in the wrong hands...

  1. What are the 'averages' of parrafin to soy in a pillar blend? And what is the deal with all the different wick sizes. I mean really, there are just too many. With my OCD it can be a real nightmare:-)
  2. My understanding is, yes it costs $300 bucks, and yes it will be copyrighted, but the litigation to control your copyright will cost thousands after someone infringes upon it. The piece of mind is only there if you can afford to 'go after' someone who copy's your stuff. It's the nature of the beast in this business; one idea lends to a thousand replicas.
  3. Candle Science in NC. Try using R&L carriers, they can be cheap depending on weight. The more weight you ship the cheaper they are compared to UPS or FED EX.
  4. :highfive: Happy Easter! I have a simple question. I poured ecosoy container blend; 1 at 138F. and one at 142F. The hotter one looked a little better though. They both tended to 'pull away' from the bottom area of the glass. Why is this??? I do this in my garage and live in the mountains of NC; could the temp. be a factor? Help please:-)
  5. I've only seen it once, but it is some sort of machine that pulverizes the wax then forms it into beads. :tiptoe:
  6. Thanks so much for those answers, I will definitely take my time and plan very well:shocked2:
  7. Question. I have never seen primed spools, are they out there? This is sucka great site for info. You guys are doing a wonderful job -- keep it up:-)
  8. Thanks for those answers, they were very informative. Although I was wondering how much money is a lot? A couple thousand or 10's of thousands? You guys have great response time on this board, i really enjoy it.
  9. This is a question about web sales. What can be expected in the first few months of a well planned, well executed web site? What kind of inventory is suggested before opening up (web page)?
  10. I have 2 questions. First, how important is priming the wick (can you get away without doing it if you pour hot [190+])? Second, is there a faster way to do this for large orders? :tiptoe:
  11. The reason that soy is harmful to cancer is because soy feeds estrogen based cancers. Soy is good for other things. You put chemicals into the wax to make it stronger, smell better and look better. Why not the concern for those chemicals. You are more likely to get damage from burning chemicals than soy wax. Now, if you really want to break it down then the reason that colon cancer has increased is from radiation from microwaves. Think about it, a microwave is at stomach level concentrating radiation there..... Anyways, soy does not cause cancer. It only feeds estrogen based cancer. If a consumer is worried about feeding their estrogen based cancer through their soy candle then they should probably get another kind. And if I have any say, I think that they should get rid of their microwave:D .
  12. Most buy them just as we do -- they just dilute them.
  13. Haven't tried any of thier scents yet but I'm sure it's just like any place else; some are good -- some are bad. They do offer great prices, especially when you're buying 5+ pounds.
