Thanks. Its scented with Solas White Tea and Ginger. I knew I forgot to put something up there. :rolleyes2 It still is pretty strong smelling even though I didn't use much. Would adding the FO to the oils before the lye make a difference? Thanks again. Pat

Well, I know I shouldn't have done it, but I can't help myself. I cut my first batch of CP. Other than a few little air holes, it doesn't look soo bad...

Thanks Carebear. To me that one FO is really really strong. And since it was the very first CP I didn't want to use alot. I did check here to see if it would be a good one for CP, but since I have zero experiance with that I didn't want to use alot and find out it sticks like mad. Pat

It wouldn't be so bad, but my BF doesn't like the scent I used. And its really strong right now. I used .7 ounce of white tea and ginger from solas in a 2.5 lb batch. But thanks for the good news! Pat

I am sorry about the sizing. I tried to upload it from photobucket and it wouldn't let me, then I resized it and still wouldn't let me. What a hassle. I will see if I can get a bigger one. Thanks. Pat

My very first CP has crocodile skin on top! It took forever to get to gel, and now its really warm and has a really rough skin. I took the top off and left the towel under and around the sides, but its ugly. Ugly I can do already. Well, I guess I just have to get more oils and lye and keep trying. Pat

Eugenia, There is no way that I couldn't peek! And it finally reached gel! Its almost all the way to the corners now. The recipe was just 2.5 lbs Cocoa butter 1.4 Coconut 11.1 Lard 11.4 Olive Oil 16 Hardness 42 Cleansing 19 Condition 52 Bubbly 19 Creamy 23 Iodine 53 INS 161 Hopefully it will turn out! Pat

That is one gorgeous candle! Love the mold with the beveled top edge. All the candles you have posted are wonderful!

Robin, I would post a pic of it in the mold, but I don't have a digital and it wouldn't be right to take one pic on a 36 shot roll. But as soon as I can cut it, I will scan it and post that. Would that be ok?? I am going to leave it all alone now and its covered and no one around to mess with it. Hopefully by tomorrow I will know if I have soap. Thanks for the help! Eugenia, Thanks for coming to my rescue again. My very first CP is in the mold and covered as I sit here. Thanks for letting me know how long. I have it covered with a really thick towel, and a cutting board over the top of the box I am using for a mold. I did peek, and didn't see any signs of gel though. The lye and oils were really cool too. They did seem warmer when I was blending them together. Again, thanks for the help. I never would have attempted this without the help of all here. Pat

My fourth attempt at soap. Didn't like the Lemon sugar by itself, so I chunked it up (really big chunks!) and did the pearberry over. Thanks for looking!

Following Robin's tutorial, I have a really silly question. Once the soap has been poured into the mold, you cover it and its supposed to gel. But the silly question is, how long do you keep it covered for? In the tutorial, she uncovered it because it was overheating, but, how long is long enough, and how long is too long? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Pat

Eugenia, This will be the fourth batch I have made. The first three are all cut and they all smell nice, but for me, they do seem a bit drying. My BF works too much with his hands so its hard for him to tell me one way or the other. Hopefully this last one will be a nice one. Thanks again. Pat

Eugenia, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer this silly question. I have already started the batch, and the only difference was the amount of time it took to get to trace. But that could have been from the oils I used. Hopefully soon today I will have soap! Thanks again. Pat

Eugenia, when using the lesser amount, will it change the way the oils behave if I do this in a crockpot?

I have spent the past couple of days going thru the old posts on here, and have noticed some posts that said to use the SAP value for cherry kernel oil instead of the coconut, IF the coconut oil was around 30%. I guess the question is does the .24 really change the lye concentration that much? Or have I not read this right? Either way, I guess I am curious before I start to make another batch. Thanks, Pat

This is really similar to the second one I made. I used 25% Coconut 25% Lard 25% Olive 5% Castor 20% Soybean Soap Qualities: Hardness 37 Cleansing 17 Condition 58 Bubbly lath. 22 Creamy lath. 25 Its not really hard yet, but its been sitting since sunday afternoon. By hard, I mean like store bought. Its firm, and I did it in the crockpot.

Thanks AJ! And its funny, they have multiplied to three batches now! I seem to have caught the bug. Now if I can only work up the nerve to try CP. I have used up almost all the coconut oil, bought more olive oil, and have been searching for others. I did get some grapeseed, and sweet almond and have been playing on the soapcalc. I have it bad.:embarasse

Well, it did lather really well when I washed it all out! Like I told my BF, I think I just made soap!!! He thinks I am crazy. :embarasse He is right though
